dickyhale Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 At saint marys do you think it would be an good idear to change a few things. Like the stand names. Have Stands named after ledgends to us. Matt Le tiss and Ted bates ect. Post what you think on this.
S4INT Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 I'd definitely change one stand to the Le Tiss stand... All at once might be a bit naff
dickyhale Posted 19 August, 2009 Author Posted 19 August, 2009 I'd definitely change one stand to the Le Tiss stand... All at once might be a bit naff Yes i would like to see a Le Tiss stand.
Thedelldays Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 I would change the name of the Kingsland to the Matthew Le Tissier stand
dickyhale Posted 19 August, 2009 Author Posted 19 August, 2009 I thought we'd have a le tiss stand and a ted bates stand, but for some reason we didn't. Seems strange to do it now, even though it's deserved and the fans would like it. Kingsland and Itchen won't be missed as names will they. There the more popolar stand i think it should be them. Keep the Northam and Chapel.
St Paul Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 Lawrie Mac Stand Matt Le Tiss Stand Terry Paine Stand Bobby Stokes Stand Ted Bates St Marys Stadium.
the_barmy_saints_army Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 we should really change the chapel to Ted Bates End
Toomer Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 I posted some time ago we could name the exit gates after the 76 side that won the cup.
Hatch Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 get them sponsored. Extra money for the club, and makes no difference to me what they are called.
Bad Wolf Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 Terry Paine stand Matt Le Tissier stand Ted Bates stand Mick Channon stand IMO
docker-p Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 No. The stands are named logicaly. Chapel end facing the Chapel area of the City, the Northam facing the Northam district etc etc. It makes sense. Naming everything that moves after old players is naff.
Alain Perrin Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 My suggestion Kingsland = Matt Le Tissier Chapel = Bobby Stokes Itchen = Ted Bates Northam = Rupert Lowe I'd **** myself laughing.....
dickyhale Posted 19 August, 2009 Author Posted 19 August, 2009 My suggestion Kingsland = Matt Le Tissier Chapel = Bobby Stokes Itchen = Ted Bates Northam = Rupert Lowe I'd **** myself laughing..... Burn the stand down?
dickyhale Posted 19 August, 2009 Author Posted 19 August, 2009 No. Your saying if they named the Northam Rupert lowe stand you wouldn't burn it down? Do you even know who he is?!
sotonjoe Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 Should definitely be a Leon Crouch stand after all he did for the club over the past couple of years.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 No. The stands are named logicaly. Chapel end facing the Chapel area of the City, the Northam facing the Northam district etc etc. It makes sense. Naming everything that moves after old players is naff. Yeah agree with this. We have hospitality suites named after players which is good, and enough. I think we should just leave it as it is.
sotonjoe Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 Yeah agree with this. We have hospitality suites named after players which is good, and enough. I think we should just leave it as it is. Yeh right, and ignore heroes like Leon and Lawrie. I don't know why they ever bothered!
Pilchards Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 I posted some time ago we could name the exit gates after the 76 side that won the cup. A better idea me thinks. What would Kelvin Davis think if the stands was named after ex players and that he stayed on with us till he was 40 before becomming our manager for the next 20 years. Any room for him? IMHO we will have another legend at our club within the next decade so lets honour them another way?
70's Mike Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 My suggestion Kingsland = Matt Le Tissier Chapel = Bobby Stokes Itchen = Ted Bates Northam = Rupert Lowe I'd **** myself laughing..... NC would change his seat to the lowe stand
RedAndWhite91 Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 Yeh right, and ignore heroes like Leon and Lawrie. I don't know why they ever bothered! Well we have suites named after Terry Paine, Mick Channon, Bobby Stokes and Matt Le Tissier. I think naming the gates after legends is a much better idea.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 We could name certain facilities after ex Chairman. Ladies could use the Askams, and men the Lowe's.............
eurosaint Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 My suggestion Kingsland = Matt Le Tissier Chapel = Bobby Stokes Itchen = Ted Bates Northam = Rupert LoweI'd **** myself laughing..... I think that naming a stand after him is going too far ! Perhaps one of the toilets could be named 'The Rupert Lowe Urinal' ? They could paint little pictures of his face where people point their willies and they could try to hit it every time ! I feel sure that this would become a popular matchday feature with the Northam faithful ????
RedAndWhite91 Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 I think that naming a stand after him is going too far ! Perhaps one of the toilets could be named 'The Rupert Lowe Urinal' ? I feel sure that this would become a popular matchday feature with the Northam faithful ???? Great idea :-D
Red And White Barmy Army Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 The Ollie Lancashire stand would be good IMHO
MrMojoRisin Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 What about naming the bike stand behind the Kingsland, "The Rupert Lowe BikeStand" and every dog thats walks by will **** all over it
Le Timmier Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 How about Kingsland = The "Don't Under" stand Itchen = The "Des Lynam Used to Present Grand" stand Chapel = The "Stand and Deliver, Your Money or Your Life" stand Northam = The "Don't Stand, Don't Stand, Don't Stand So Close to Me" stand ?
chocco boxo Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 If we carry on like this every attendance will be named after our ex Chairman...Another Lowe attendance.
John B Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 I never knew why the West Stand at the Dell was named after an Everton Goalie and the East after an Essex Cricketer;)
Weston Saint Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 What about Terry Paine 811 appearances, Mick Channon 602 appearances Nick Holmes 535 appearences or Ron Davies 153 goals in 277 appearances etc. etc. etc. Leave the stands as they are. Avoids leaving anyone out.
eelpie Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 I'd definitely change one stand to the Le Tiss stand... All at once might be a bit naff Wait till we've climbed up the leagues. It sounds too much like we're clinging to a past that we cannot emulate (imho).
krissyboy31 Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 What about Terry Paine 811 appearances, Mick Channon 602 appearances Nick Holmes 535 appearences or Ron Davies 153 goals in 277 appearances etc. etc. etc. Leave the stands as they are. Avoids leaving anyone out. Agreed. The executive suites are named after the legends and the stands are sensibly named already. The only valid reason I can see for renaming the stands is if we were to sell the naming rights for commercial reasons.
Dog Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 Itchen = Ted Bates stand Kingsland = Le Tissier stand Northam = Lambert End Chapel = Pahars Enclosure St Marys Stadium
dubai_phil Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 I think the TSW Forum Match Home Team should have the Referees Changing Room named after them
St Chalet Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 The New Lowe stand. In appreciation of delivering a Premiership stadium with a League One side.
WealdSaint Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 Name the toilet blocks after Rupert Lowe & Michael Wilde
westofshannonsaint Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 get them sponsored. Extra money for the club, and makes no difference to me what they are called. Sir, I think this is a good idea.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 No keep it as it is , just think how many Saintsweb members would have to change their usernames - I might have to become 'Mick Channon End Charlie' which would be silly .
RonManager Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 The RonManager dugout sounds, well, you know, Marvellous.
paulwantsapint Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 Sir Ted needs more recognition so what about the Father of our Club having the family centre renamed Lawrie Mac also needs some proper recognition
TijuanaTim Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 At saint marys do you think it would be an good idear to change a few things. Like the stand names. Have Stands named after ledgends to us. Matt Le tiss and Ted bates ect. Post what you think on this. No.
South City Si Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 There is loads more we could to rmember our legends and honour our past as a club but the stands current names should stay as it reperesnts the city and therefore the community. I like the gates Idea for 76, and more statues: CB Fry and Charles William Miller get my vote!
oxfordshire_saint Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 We should really rename one of them the "El Khalej tackle on Kieron Dyer" stand
Red And White Barmy Army Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 We should really rename one of them the "El Khalej tackle on Kieron Dyer" stand i remember that tackle as if it were yesterday!! lmao. good times!
dubai_phil Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 The RonManager dugout sounds, well, you know, Marvellous. Ah actually it is already known as the Legendary Dubai Saints dugout.. Will have to change my Avatar from John Burrige being beaten at karaoke to the photo from the night... If I can find it!
Bearsy Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 Naming everything that moves after old players is naff. The stands at St. Mary's don't move, they are inanimate. Particularly the Kingsland. HTH
Draino76 Posted 19 August, 2009 Posted 19 August, 2009 The Northam should be renamed 'The Super Draino76 Stand'.
