Baird of the land Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 Centre mid ball winner needed. Please hammond be half decent & be signed for saturday. You can't win games without winning the ball in the first place. Spine needs sorting or else we're in for a long hard season. Worried by the fact pardew refused to make subs till it was much too late. Really hoped he have some tactical nous. Still supporting him & will be till the end of the season. Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 Wouldn't blame Dean Hammond picking up the phone and pleading to stay at Colchester based on tonight's inept showing. AP keeps telling us there's much to do and he's too f**king right. Now, if you'd like to check your shopping list AP, assuming Hammond does sign, make sure you underline centre half, winger and pacy striker. saintsmike25 Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 Well I'm not gonna say I'm that surprised we only started to play in the last 10 minutes we're not attacking enough "safety first" all the time. Our home games hopefully might turn things round, at least we have a club to support, a couple of wins and then this doom and gloom will be lifted. CB Fry Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 (edited) Shut up you idiot. See? We nearly didn't have a club, and people are saying JPS or pardew out. What a large number of total, total w*nkers we have as fans here. What a load of bo llo c ks. We were never going out of existence and even if we were it doesn't mean we all have to dance jigs of gratitude for our wonderful players when we have been utterly played off the park by Swindon. The only w*ankers are those that think we have to say "well done chaps, you were brilliant" even when we've been utterly dicked out of sight. obelisk Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 There are players at Saints that have had their confidence shot to pieces by last season's debacle. If this sort of form continues they'll be too bloody frightened to play at all and maybe that's where we're at just now. It needs strong, confident players to come in and get a couple of wins from somewhere. If we get stranded 15 points from safety it'll be a long, long way back and more confidence drained. Difficult times.
corky morris Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 Very disappointed with the result. They had not scored all season as well. We have to give Pardew time. He inherited a crock of **** & we want instant results. Well it was never likely to happen. FWIW we dont just need a centre half we need some pace & width. It will be interesting to see how Pardew responds in the media.
graveworm Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 I've never known a team so short of confidence. We've carried the mentality & mind-set over from last season. We are literally toothless - no bite or edge whatsoever. Would have loved to have seen changes made 10-15 minutes earlier than Pardew made them too. All in all - very very disappointing. I would have thought if this team of arsewipes had any pride in themselves never mind as a team, they would not have been overpowered by SWINDON Holy ****

badgerx16 Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 In the last four seasons, the points total needed to avoid relegation from L1 has been 52, 51, 50, and 50, with the team next to bottom having won 12 games and drawn respectively 16, 15, 14, and 14. This would indicate that from the remaining 43 matches, we need to achieve a minimum of 59 points, which is likely to need at least 15 wins, with 14 draws, and only 14 defeats. Guess we are about to find out how good AP is.
forever a red and white Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 ******** we need a CB clearly and a midfield general, a Quashie like would be perfecrt, and winger may as well play no strikers if we can;t provide anything for them. Clearly Pardew doesn't know his best XI which is certainly acceptable considering the lack of time he had with the squad. Katalinic Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 I don't think any of us really fully appreciated what a mess AP inherited and it is going to take weeks and months to sort out. A rudderless squad devoid of confidence (and in some cases ability) coupled with other issues such as no scouting network will take a massive effort and time to sort out. It was an often used phrase during the darkest days but this club really was rotten from top to bottom and that includes the playing staff. Major surgery rquired both on and off the field. Out of the squad picked tonight I think at least 9 need to be shipped out and the same number brought in - barring an immediate open cheque book policy that isn't going to happen before the end of the transfer window so it looks like a transitional season, number one aim survival, number two aim, phase in better players and ship out the dross - build a platform for next season. sfc6mufc3 Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 So we come down to league one and still can't win some games - despite improving the squad in places and getting an experienced manager. Even without the -10 deduction we would still be near the bottom - it is clear we need to strenghten (and quick) before we slip down further i.e. div 2. Even Colchester without their manager and Hammond won tonight and it is very worrying that we should get thumped by Huddersfield and then lose to Swindon who hadn't scored before tonight. Lets see some money spent on a CB - I know we tried to get Jaidi but look elsewhere and get him before Saturday!!!!

egreog Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 What do people expect?...........1) Saints are notoriously slow starters. 2) A few weeks ago there was nearly no club at all. 3) Some influential players left during the close season when there were doubts about future existence. 4) AP recognises that its going to be a long haul out of the mess with the weak squad he has. 5) Its the 3rd game of the season and he probably now knows that he has 3 or 4 players not up to the standard required and will find replacements. Fans need patience.... the spine isn't there yet, which is why I suggested Oct/Nov before out of negative into plus points........and I still think its realistic! Also what is with the obsession with JPS i swear he was'nt that good when he was here, Im sure we can find better out their with expereince of the league. Personally I think Schnederlin is gonna be to weak for this league and definatly not the kinda player we should b playing away from home against teams like swindon and huddesfield. Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 Simply not good enough! We are supposed to have all these promising youngsters yet none of them seem to be delivering the goods. I can understand why they may have struggled last season as they were thrown in at the deep end, but they should easilly be capable of playing at this level. The older players in the side should certainly be able to hack it in L1, but I've seen little evidence of this. Get some people in who actually want to play for the club. Anyone who is not prepared to give 100% should be shown the door! Can anyone tell me what AP's problem is with Gillett? FFS, give the lad a chance! WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 When will the pain end!!!?? I now really fear that all this season will be is a relegation battle Hopefully the planned buys in January have now been moved forward to next week. Two new centre backs,Hammond and 2 wingers and 2 strikers all required.Other than Davis all of last seasons squad should be ditched from the first choice 11.Players like Lallana,Morgan, wotton,James,Lancashire and Thomas aswell as the 2 Poles if they don't want to be hear. The best any of them should be is on the bench. We need another younger right back for when Murty is injured aswell. I doubt we will get 6/7 more signings but I bet we see more than 1 more after Hammond.I hope he has actually signed tonight because after seeing how shi*e we are and with Colchester still top he might reassess his decision!!! I am so bloody angry. Will probably avoid the Brenford game now unless about 3 signings are made and wait until we actually start having a team to be proud of again.I'm certainly not that tonight!! Fitzhugh Fella Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 AP inherited a mess left by 5 years of mismanagement by Lowe. We can't expect him to sort that out in 4 weeks. Those extra 4 weeks wasted by Pinnacle's "never gonna happen" bid are now coming home to roost. Perhaps people's frustrations should be aimed at Pinnacle and the people that gave them oxygen rather than Pinnacle. Just a - no doubt unpopular - thought. Give Pardew a chance - he is far from being the biggest culprit here.

Well, come on, at least we've had about 12 years experience of being divisive and argumentative... And AP has only had a few weeks to get up to speed He will turn it round, we don't have to show patience, we just have to simply understand HOW bad things have really been It's only CM09 or House where the critically ill patient can be cured in 90 minutes
Saints foreva Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 On the coach now, waiting to go home and it seems one coach has had its window shattared. Now, what a terrible performance. Worst then i saw last season. We seemed obsessed with the high ball up to Lambert, it wasnt working. Lallana was awful, the same old crap from him. If we dont add two decent cbs, a winger, another striker and someone to replace that clown wotton, we will go straight into league 2.

brightspark Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 The result, considering that Swindon, now without Cox, are one of the favourites for relegation, confirms that we are in real trouble. If we can't beat Swindon, unless we sign some players quick, with the added problem of a -10 I would now say we are in danger of relegation. And with the names in the squad we have, we should be ashamed. None of them deserve higher quality football. Why is it that Saints players are always presumed to be of a higher quality than the league they are in? ITS SH*T!!!
