Weston Saint Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 We need to get back to winning ways in this difficult fixture starting on Wednesday. Chris Tremlett has been dropped with Cork coming back in. Team from: Carberry, Adams, Lumb, Vince, Dawson, Ervine, Mascarenhas, Burrows, Cork, Griffiths, Tahir, Tomlinson. I suspect it will be between Griffiths and Tomlinson. We need them both to give us good balance but with Pothas still injured the batting will likely be strengthened. I understand that Tahir is going to have a session with Shane Warne next week. Good to see Warney is keeping in touch.
chrisobee Posted 18 August, 2009 Share Posted 18 August, 2009 No surprise to see Tremlett dropped and at least Cork should strenthen the batting a little. I would imagine Griffiths will keep his place as he bowled well v Yorks. At least Notts will be missing Broad, Swann and Sidebottom which makes things slighty easier. Weston Saint Posted 19 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 19 August, 2009 Carberry taken to hospital with a suspected fractured left ring finger. If confirmed it will likely mean the end of the season for him! Shame as he is in such good form.
Weston Saint Posted 19 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 19 August, 2009 Now confirmed as a fracture. Lumb has cheered me up though with a century.

chrisobee Posted 19 August, 2009 Share Posted 19 August, 2009 Indeed just the sort of day we needed save of course for the injury to Carberry. Good news though is we probably will not need him to bat further in this match so it could be worse. Would be nice to get to around 500 and then the pressure is on Notts. At Headingley Lancs only scored 226-7 off 100 overs v Yorks, when I saw the score I was sure there must have been a delay of some sort due to the low score. bungle Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 http://www.rosebowlplc.com/news/carberry_broken_finger/ Carberry officially out for the season. Very disappointing news. Lumb up to opener, and another chance for Benham?
bungle Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 (edited) Start delayed due to rain. I assume Sidebottom will be back to bowl for Notts today, which might change things! Edit: Just started! Edited 20 August, 2009 by bungle

Lumb up to opener, and another chance for Benham? I think this shows how good Carberry has been though for sure we know that already ! chrisobee Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 Tahir already has 2-11 so it would seem obvious he is the key to us winning this. Weather forecast is for a few showers but I reckon as long as not too much time is lost we can get a much needed win from this.

Good as it is currently dry here as well but looks as if we could get a shower or two but I reckon it would take Notts 2 full days to even get on par so we can certainly afford to attack which will help Tahir above all, some Warney type field placing called for Dimi! Real shame though that it seems Notts have Sidebottom in the team now to bolster their batting
Leicestersaint Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 (edited) Tahir hardly seems to have had a bowl at all so far this morning - I hope he is OK. It seems strange that he has only bowled 8 overs so far. Edit - He is now on at last. Edited 21 August, 2009 by Leicestersaint

Very strange to wait 90 minutes, would have a least given him a few early overs but for sure ultimately we need him to bowl lots of overs!
Leicestersaint Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 This is proving very hard work with all their lower order making runs. I think they are around 340 for 8 at present - we really need to win this one if at all possible. I still think Dimi's use of the bowlers is unimaginative. chrisobee Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 All out for 407 right on close of play though they were 297-8 at one point. 4 for Tahir and Griffiths, 1 each for Cork and Ervine. Still a lead of 247, I would hope and expect we would enforce the follow on.
Leicestersaint Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 Notts are 70 for 2 and scoring very slowly! If we could take another couple in the next 10 overs we might yet win thisone.
