Saint in Paradise Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Norwich have admitted that the man they want is already employed, Mr Cortese has said he wants a director of football and incoming transfer rumours have gone very quite. Managers with the standing of AP don't seem to like DOF's or any interference with transfers. Mr C has said that situations have changed since he first started. I get the distinct impression that AP is not quite so happy as when he first joined so if he is approached by Norwich will he stay or will he leave Saints ?.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Not in a million years. That is nearly the most ridiculous thing I've heard this year on this site, and with the lack of football education of many on this site that is really saying something.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Speculation just doesn't get much wilder (or less likely IMO) than this - well done .
lordswoodsaints Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Nothing surprises me in football anymore.
shurlock Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Norwich will be after Mark Robins, IMO. Good call. At Rotherham, right? Done a pretty decent job considering the points deductions. They also seem to have a soft-spot for ex-players.
Toadhall Saint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 LOL - talk about putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5.
red&white56 Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Even if he was approached he would say no (imo)

AP in todays Echo say's he'd love a Football Director to help ease the pressure on Pardew. So in a nutshell, Alan Pardew is very happy still, go buy the Echo.

westmidlandsaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Didn't Pardew supposedly say that he wouldn't have dropped down to League 1 for anyone else anyway???
ottery st mary Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Ferguson at Peterborogh. Or Erikkson or Capello or Mourinho Just to get in the spirit of the post.

SO16_Saint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Ferguson at Peterborogh. Or Erikkson or Capello or Mourinho Just to get in the spirit of the post. would be very VERY surprised if that's the case.
dubai_phil Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Lol OP so wrong on so many accounts. Where EXACTLY does it say DOF in ANY interview or official comment? Then FFS read the thread or watch the AP pre-Swindon interview. Do you SUGGEST that AP should have been the person watching Swindon at the weekend? Just WHO do you propose to actually interview the 3 or 4 scouts we obviously need, read the emails from agents offering players, answer the phone calls, make the phone calls, put out the cones. Norwich will want Guus Hiddink, not some poor Jack of all Trades like AP
Painswick Saint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Rumoured that Norwich want the S****horpe manager. I can't see AP leaving at the present time
DT Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 More chance of Delia employing bearded chef monkey Anthony Worrell Thompson.
ottery st mary Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 would be very VERY surprised if that's the case. You are more than right....Norwich have absolutely NO money and would struggle to pay any club comp on any contracted Manager....Sorry. Could end up being Butterfield and Crook already employed at The Canaries;)
Saint in Paradise Posted 18 August, 2009 Author Posted 18 August, 2009 Gottcha It was a question not a statement and I wanted to wake people up as I was bored Sure did that didn't I

Butterfield would be a good choice, but SSN has said that they are talking to their number 1 target, which does suggest that they ARE going external, somehow...!!

I think that AP is really "down" about the fact that SFC have only spemt money on ONE signing, whilst the weaknesses to be replaced are there for all to see ..... and the Team he has at present will NOT lift us up the Table We either cannot attract players .... OR, like it or not, maybe Funds are not what they first seemed I would like to think that AP is not the type of person to "jump ship" so soon after being appointed, but I am convinced that HIS plans are NOT going to schedule:cool:

Like us they need experience and some Money. Not forgetting luck. We should hear today..is my guess. I recomended JP and Wotte and told them The Dutch lark might be good for them but suggested Lowey as Director of football..I had to buy a few pints after that.. chocco boxo Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 They want Mark Bowen, Man City's no 2? Only link there is he is from one of the country's richest clubs!!!

sandwichsaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Spoke to some Norwich fans Saturday and there was talk of the usual ones mentioned here. Adkins Sc un thorpe ........ excellent manager... prob gone as far as he can with Scun Robbins Rotherham ..... ditto Tisdale Exeter Scott Brentford .... tipped for higher things, will complete this season at Brentford IMHO Tilson Southend ... excellent manager... would love to see what he could do at a 'bigger' club Stimpson Gillingham.... hated in his first two years there but has turned it round now... prob now managing at his natural level Lambert Colchester....... don't know much about him Adie Boothroyd.... c*ck but decent manager at this level... if appointed could 'do a Keane' and take Norwich from bottom to top in this league Loads of decent managers out there below Prem level ... Clough / Ferguson / Davis / Johnson / Warnock ......... how the hell did we end up with the krap we have had since WGS left?
Master Bates Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 SAINTS manager Alan Pardew has revealed he would welcome a sporting director at the club. As exclusively reported in the Daily Echo on Saturday, executive chairman Nicola Cortese announced he will appoint an experienced football figure to oversee the playing side of the club. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4550999.Pardew_in_favour_of_sporting_director/?ref=rss

Why are Nott's county signing these good players, and players like Kasper on 5 year deals? It's not because of their manager, no disrespect to him...it's because of Sven. Having a highly thought of DoF in these levels of football seems to work really well.

SaintRichmond Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 What makes you 'convinced' that his plans are not going to schedule? IMHO, I really think that AP fully expected to have brought in more players than he has at present ......... and his frustration at not having done that is obvious Of course, we do not know the reasons behind this, but even with a -9, we are still a Big enough Club to be able to attract Div 1 type players to us I would have thought ???

stevegrant Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Getting back to the point, Norwich have nicked Paul Lambert from Colchester.
Master Bates Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Any thoughts on a "High Profile" DOF ????? Gordon Strachan, hence why they say they'll bring someone in before the summer transfer window. All imho of course.
sandwichsaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Getting back to the point, Norwich have nicked Paul Lambert from Colchester. Good news for Gillingham who play away at 'managerless-Colchester' tonight then. A Gills mate saw Swindon on the opening day (Gills won 5-0) and apparently Swindon were rank, worse than most sides they played last season in Div 4. Really hope we win tonight, the big crowd should lift the players surely?

saint1977 Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Don't forget Boothroyd - ex-Norwich coach and still well regarded at Carrow Road. Shows you what I know - just seen Lambert posts. Perhaps that 7-1 win didn't do Colchester many favours. Would be a great time to raid them for Simon Hackney though.

ART Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Gordon Strachan, hence why they say they'll bring someone in before the summer transfer window. All imho of course. Oh wise one, think back to whom Gordon Strachan wrote was the best administrator in football that he had worked with. You can rest assured that that person will be applying for the post with Strachan's blessings!
SaintRichmond Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Getting back to the point, Norwich have nicked Paul Lambert from Colchester. Good move ....... later on this season Colchester 1 ... Norwich 7
