Just noticed there is a "new" series about to start on how the party island works, the ins and outs of a rep etc..

 

has this place not had its day..?

 

I went in 1998 and it was at the height of its powers (if you are into that sort of thing) and was very expensive back then..

 

surely it is not as good as it used to be..?

It was a bloody nightmare when i went on a 18-30.

The Reps were complete ****s.

I spent a fortune,halfway through the holiday hordes of nippers were phoning home asking for more money from their parents,the excursions were rip off but the youngsters fell for it.

The best bar was 'The Rock bar' at the end of the main street,at least they played some good tunes,needed a break from a particular Tori Amos track being played from the moment we got too the hotel pool until the bloody early hours.

 

God.i'm old.

did an 18-30s last summer in tenerife..

 

god have they toned down these things...I did a freestyle hols in 99 and it was manic...I guess all the bad press over the years has made them tone it down..

 

I really dread to think how much you would need for a week in Ibiza these days..

I am now 29 and think I have said goodbye (last summer) to these types of hols

What channel? Dance music is coming back now and I belive that IBiza will again be as big as it used to be, but in a different way.

but 10-13 years ago...Ibiza was the only place for this...the music was massive in the charts and/or the press...

 

the club scene over here was still happening...

I take an interest still and it is NOT as big as it was...

I did an 18-30 last year in tenerife with a load of Navy lads..(was a last min and went with it)

 

It was tame and a pointless affair..we did one excursion on the first night (bar crawl) and not again..but the lads I was with were pretty mental anyway.. we were asked to come along to the other excursions for free so we could do the reps jobs for them and liven up the place

Being overpriced keep a lot of the chavs away. Yes the drinks in clubs are stupidly expensive but I only really buy 1 or 2. Just drink before you go out. Once your on the dance floor to awesome tunes a drink is the last thing I worry about.

I went on an 18-30 holiday in 2002 and despite all the misgivings we had about the tours and excursions it was one of the best holidays I ever been on. The reps soon learnt that we weren't going to buy into the pay for a pub crawl deal when we could do it for free ourselves. A couple of nights we just followed them around paying €10 less for the privilege!

 

The clubs were brilliant and the bars very good, expecially ground zero (the rock/indie bar). Although as people have said it was very expensive back then. €30-40 for entrance to the club alon. I spent about £1300 over two weeks.

Just how expensive is it nowadays?

 

A group of friends and I are thinking of going next year and even though we can get an all inclusive hoilday there relatively cheap I would like to know how much spending money I should bring.

I'd love to go to Ibiza, but I wouldn't go with a package company. I did 2wenty's in Kavos in 2002 when I was 21 and while the reps were very good and attentive, they certainly sting you for money when you go out there. Not to mention the alcohol they give you.

 

I don't think I can hack heavy drinking much anymore, even at the ripe old age of 28. I can do maybe one night a week, but not seven. I'd want to go to Ibiza to relax, not to party. (Much)
