He plays for Kettering, you want him in the team on size alone? give me a centre back who can read the game over someone whose just "tall" there's a reason he hasn't been signed and is playing for Kettering.

There are some very size-obsessed people on this forum, it's true. Mind you, if we signed someone who was actually bigger than the pitch, that might be quite useful.

In what way ???

As Armitage Shanks said.....Irish, Rasta Brummie.....

I always thought that The Campbells were part Irish/Scottish, Brummies but Ali although white had a rasta type demeanour ( without dreads) and voice.....Probably totally wrong but just my memory of Ali.....I was/am a fanof UB40....He is not any good at football either.

I played against wade elliot when at college..

he was quite small and not that great...

good luck to him... I know he is a big saints fan and was gutted when he played for burnley and was boo'd (by some morons in the northam) when he came to SMS

Other good non-leaguers:

Martin Rowlands originally came from Farnborough Town, now at QPR via Brentford

Jermaine Beckford, I think he came from Wealdstone (incidently I think this is where Stuart Pearce started out)

Les Ferdinand knocked around at non-league level for a while before he made it pro

Maik Taylor, another ex-Farnborough Town player

DJ Campbell, even if some may argue he should be back at that level!

Nicky Bailey, looked useful for Charlton last season in an awful side

SOGs may remember Gary Birtles who was signed by the soon-to-be-Euro-Champions Forest from non-league Long Eaton United.

Living in Kettering myself I go to quite a few games and have seen Exodus myself on numerous occasions.

Trust me on this one folks, he really is nothing special. His long throws are obviously a big asset, but apart from that I'm finding it extremely hard to see why we are so interested in him. I think its also common belief in Kettering that the other CB (and captain) by the name of Dempster is a more competent and calmer CB on the ball.

People on here are howling for anybody with some height and I think its getting a bit desperate now.

And besides, since when has talent ever been a requirement for playing for us. ;)

the most successful person to rise from obscurity is Ian Wright (and I suppose Dion Dublin didn't do too badly going from Cambs Utd to Manc Utd). Went for trials at some professional clubs, but Palace signed him from a Sunday League club. Nice to see someone looking down the leagues rather than just importing foreign players.

There is plenty of ability down there it just needs taking a chance upon and nurturing. Our very own Wade Elliot is another great example of that. Bashley to the Premiership in 9 years.

Agreed. Genius. I want to sign him just to sing this song. Don't really care if he's any good.

Can never understand why known saints supporters would get boo'd, ok darren anderton i do understand, but wade elliott once turned down a move to portsmouth because of being a saints supporter, Sam Vokes wanted us to come in for him before he went to wolves, these blokes should be applauded for their history, they deserve the rewards they are now getting.

Above is common knowledge and was confirmed to me by a bournmouth player about Vokes and he had heard the elliott story from a few at the club

Indeed..playing on the Turf of SMS (albeit with another club) was a dream come true for elliot..only for some proper knuckle draggers to boo him and shout abuse..
