saint peach Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Apart from having the best name in football, he could also be a Saints player soon, according to the Non League Paper. The Kettering defender is apparently subject of interest from Notts County and us. And in the past has interested Palace, Sheffield United, Plymouth and Crewe. A St Mary's source told the NLP: "The new manager Alan Pardew is on the lookout for a big, no-nonsense centre-half from the Non-League game and, from what he's been told, the boy at Kettering fits the bill perfectly." Sounds good to me.
Colinjb Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 That is the greatest name in the history of creation. Never mind football.
St.Patrik Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Probbably the coolest name Ive heard in a long time : )
beavis17 Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 6 ft 6, get him in! played for the england c team as well
The Saturday Boy Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 http://www.ketteringtownfc.co.uk/player.php?player_id=14

Torres Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 "The new manager Alan Pardew is on the lookout for a big, no-nonsense centre-half from the Non-League game Why?
saint peach Posted 17 August, 2009 Author Posted 17 August, 2009 Why? Possibly because he is looking for players who are both physical and enthusiastic. We need commited players who want to be here. Sounds like he fits the bill.
Verbal Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Is he pacy? Because the best way to use his long throws is for him to take them and then scoot round and nod them into the net.

South Londoner Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 I saw him a number of times last season through Setanta's coverage of the Blue Square Prem. He's about the size of Wales and just as mobile.
beavis17 Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Why? George Boyd, Fitz Hall and Michael Kightly spring to mind
skintsaint Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 A giant of a man with one of the longest throw ins in the game. sweet
rallyboy Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 For a mo I thought it was a thread about Portsmouth and their new pay-as-he-plays loanee - Exodus Continues.
Torres Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 George Boyd, Fitz Hall and Michael Kightly spring to mind And the list of good players picked up from non-league goes on, but I wonder why the "source" would specify that Pardew was looking to sign someone form the non-league game. Seems to me that that bit may have been added to give this rumour greater credence.
St.Patrik Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 If he signs I will print his name on my new away shirt : )
the saint in winchester Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Damn you, Scudamore, I had the same thought when seeing the name! That lad off X-Factor? CHDAJFU?
SO16_Saint Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 George Boyd, Fitz Hall and Michael Kightly spring to mind Aaron McClean and Craig Mackail-Smith, too.
RonManager Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Andy Townsend, Graeme Roberts. Terry Paine - came to the Dell when we were a 3rd Division side.
madsent Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 George Boyd, Fitz Hall and Michael Kightly spring to mind Don't forget players like Geoff Horsfield, Barry Hayles and Efetebor Sodje. I'm still surprised no-one mentions Steve Finnan who is the only player to play in the Conference and all four professional divisions as well as winning the Champions League and representing Ireland at a World Cup.
RonManager Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 I'm still surprised no-one mentions Steve Finnan . Give us a break - you're only the third person to offer up suggestions on a thread that only started a couple of minutes ago! Oh by the way, did I mention Steve (Bath Salts) Finnon?
dubai_phil Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Oh well we're up against Notts County and Sven, Damn. Now if ONLY we had been up against Man City we'd have had a chance... And the other thought... See what happens when you scare ITK's off this site? Poor old tac-tics has had to resort to leaking to the press instead of us :-)
david in sweden Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 (edited) That is the greatest name in the history of creation. Never mind football. of course if it was creation ...he'd be called Genesis, I suppose..maybe he has a big brother, too ? ....but it's a fantastic name - isn't it ? I think we should sign him - just so as we have him on the squad list. OK - so he can't move as fast as Usain Bolt.. but at 6' 6" ...he'd make the goal 3 feet narrower when he stands on the goal line ...great tactic AP ! Edited 17 August, 2009 by david in sweden
david in sweden Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Are these players only found in non-league football? well everyone has to start somewhere, and there is a short list of famous players over the years, who actually started in non-league football.
david in sweden Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Andy Townsend, Graeme Roberts. Terry Paine - came to the Dell when we were a 3rd Division side. Wasn't it Kevin Phillips who had a spell in a non-league club years ago - before he signed big time ?

ladysaint Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 If he signs, the first one to come up with a song for him deserves a medal.

SaintRichmond Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 If he signs, the first one to come up with a song for him deserves a medal. Plus a special medal if you fit his name on the back of your shirt .........
RonManager Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 If he signs, the first one to come up with a song for him deserves a medal. The obvious one that comes to mind is ex -Bob Marley - "Exodus - movement of the Geohaghon" (I'm presuming his surname is pronounced 'Gagen')
Colinjb Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 If he signs, the first one to come up with a song for him deserves a medal. From one stand to the other...... GEO..... ..HAGHAN.... GEO..... ..HAGHAN....
madsent Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Notts County will get him IMHO I'm still trying to work out how Notts County are paying all their new recruits when they have the wage cap in L2 set at 60% of turnover. I've come to the conclusion that they're being clever and either the new owner has bought his season ticket for £5m or their new players are all playing for free but are being paid a large pro-rated signing on fee.

gjphilsaint Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Is he pacy? Because the best way to use his long throws is for him to take them and then scoot round and nod them into the net. No not at all fast , but yes has a decent throw on him.
RonManager Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Another one is - when his name is read out - 'Best name in football, He's got the best name in football, Best name in fooooootbaaaaall, he's got the best name in football Respect to the OP on this one.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 X-O-D-U-S, X-O-D-U-S, He is X - Exciting...and so on.

Armitage Shanks Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 Ge-hay-gan woah oh Ge-hay-gan woah oh He's over 6 ft 3. An Irish, Rasta, Brummie!! I wouldn't let Nineteen Canteen hear you singing that. He's the defender of minorities on here and an Irish, Rasta, Brummie is certainly a minority in these parts of the world.
