Many of MLT big moments. That is especially for 19 and John B

 

Saints v Forest at the Dell 3-0 and back to 3-3 in last 15 mins.First game was 1-1 at Forest....won at White Hart Lane 5-1

 

 

Great memories Ottery St Mary, but not to be too pedantic.. those 3 goals v. Forest came in the last 16 mins.(!) sorry I was there too, and the replay score was 5-0. Goals by David Burnside 2,George O'Brien 2 ..and Ken Wimshurst. (probably the BEST of many fine games he played for Saints).

just building a site for which I touting for ideas. Basically I'm looking for the best bits from Saints past. All ideas gratefully received.

Nice idea. How about season 1963-64.?

No (!), we didn't get promoted, and finished a distant 5th. behind Leeds and Sunderland, but we did score 100 league goals.

20 of them in the last 4 games, culminating with a 6-1 thrashing of Rotherham to finish on 100... of which 70 were at home.

We got our money's worth that season. One 7-2 win, 4 times we scored 6 goals in a game, and 5 twice.

Along the way.. we also managed to lose to Pompey TWICE, lost 4-5 at home to Preston, and 0-6 away at Swansea, but won 6-4 at home to Derby - with only 9 men in 2nd half. (no subs. in those days ).

 

Seasons goal tally; Martin Chivers and Terry Paine 21 EACH, George O'Brien (had a quiet season) and ONLY got 16, George Kirby 15, and John Sydenham 8. FOUR different players scored hat-tricks that season; Paine TWICE, O'Brien and Chivers once each and George Kirby scored 4 goals in the opening game v. Charlton.

 

For statistical sake, these (and other players).. also scored 2 goals in a game... on 13 other occasions,

........and 8 players played in 30 or more (of 42) league games. Surely worth some sort of a mention, eh, ?

Those were the days.!

The old memory going..silly old sod.:rolleyes: and a mickey mouse watch.....Not sure where I got the extra goal at White Hart Lane....Just reading Paineys book at the mo....Great memories.:)..Some would say silly old fool.....David in your case I will not agree with them :D

Just watched that Man Utd game again - you always remember the disallowed Keegan overhead kick 'goal', but how great to see that wonderful Armstrong finish for the winner. Vividly remember watching that from must behind the Milton Rd. goal. Blissful.

thats mine apart from Orient in 67 - not old enough.;)

 

It was 66 actually and was a nerve racking experience until Terry Paine scored.

 

WE were late in getting back to Waterloo but British Rail put on a Special Train for us

The start of the 2003 cup run - Tottenham at SMS,live on the BBC. 4-0 and people coming up to me for days after saying 'I saw your boys on the box - great that they stuffed Spurs'

 

Also live on the beeb - Liverpool on a friday night at the Dell in 83-84 the best (league) game of our best season - 2-0 with two spectacular Danny Wallace goals

I was standing in the corner where the players came out, (season ticket area) I still don't know how that goal was offside. Would have been onside under current rules I think.

Alan Knight's testimonial, just for the lock in!

 

Barry Horne's 40 yard equaliser in the 93rd minute against Bolton.

 

Bruce Grob against the Arsenal with cap in hand.

 

Le Tissier's goals! Esp. the Newcastle game when IB had left him on the bench for a month.

Saints training in 1934 - Excellent to watch.

 

 

A really great find Tim ......Rover.

...there must be more of this stuff around if only it can be located.

 

I enjoyed the Millenium Video when it was produced but unfortunately there

was very little film material available .......especially before *1970.

 

A DVD with all these old film would be a great addition to A Saints fans library.

1st Half of the League Cup final v Forest in 1979

 

0-0 at home to Spurs last game of the season in 1978

 

Another good memory for me was when we beat sunderland 4-0 or 4-1 at home in 1975/76. They were running away with the league at the time, and we absolutely murdered them and it was on Match of the Day.
