dubai_phil Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 It's all very well having an experienced player in there Phil, but he doesn't bring anything to the game. Literally, nothing. I think you are being unfair on nothings with that comment..... It's like I said, none of US would have him in, but then we'd never have had Jermaine Wright and all the others that we could never understand over the years..... Just went with what I think we'd see. My pick would be the same as I posted but SG instead of Wotton
thorpie the sinner Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Think this game is still too early for us in our rebuilding, but expect a much better performance than on Saturday. Have it down as 2-1 to Swindon. But then I'm aiming for the wooden spoon this season... Davis Murty/James Thomas Perry Harding James/Mellis MS Wotton Lallana Patterson Lambert Subs Bart Gillett Holmes/Mellis Gobern Rasiak Saga Lancashire Personally I would WAY prefer Gillet in CM but until we find another experienced midfielder I think he will stick with Wotton, unfortunately Do you have us finishing stone last then Phil lol????
dubai_phil Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Do you have us finishing stone last then Phil lol???? Nope :smt015 Gradual improvement, just below mid table in December and a push on in January when the gaps in the squad are finally filled up! Don't get me wrong, it's not negativity, and Swindon will be a different prospect from Huddersfield, but again they will be up for "a massive game" with a "big crowd". Just think we will take a few weeks yet to properly find our feet We had the quantity vs quality cr*p in the squad with you know who, just don't think we will be able to give away all our rubbish straight away, it's a lot easier for the coaching staff to coach and keep 26 players tactically, physically and metally fit than it is 36
dubai_phil Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Oh, it the wooden spoon is ME with the Prediction League mate. I think I got one result right all of last season! Bit disappointed to have picked up 6 points so far this season. Bit of a brain f*rt that!

Andy_Porter Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Would make a few changes to the midfield for today if I was Pardew, I think that was where the game was lost on Saturday. Davis James Perry Thomas Harding Millas Gillett Schneiderlin Gobern Lallana Lambert Hopefully Millas and Lallana can swap positions during the game and if it isn't working out it's pretty easy to bring on Paterson and go two upfront. Maybe consider Mills or Holmes instead of Gobern if fully fit.
eelpie Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 From the OS: 'Saints boss Alan Pardew looks set to make several changes to his side this evening as Saints go in search of their first win of the season… New signing Graeme Murty may travel, but is rated as doubtful with a dead leg picked up in Saturday's 3-1 defeat against Huddersfield Town. "I will probably introduce some fresh legs because we've got games thick and fast and it's a demanding start to the season, but we've got to start picking up points," Pardew said.' So perhaps Gillett is going to be recalled. I would fancy our chances more if he were to start.
Window Cleaner Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 It's all very well having an experienced player in there Phil, but he doesn't bring anything to the game. Literally, nothing. In fact probably less than nothing, you can carry a passenger provided they don't keep pulling the alarm chain, a midfielder who can't pass to his own men is a negative equity so to speak, he just ****es off everybody else around him and makes them nervous cos they just can't trust him. they have to seek alternative and more risky solutions rather than give him the ball or rely on him, sometimes it's better to play with 10 men than 11-1

Window Cleaner Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Why do they persist in calling AP 'the ex-West Ham boss' FFS? status symbol I guess
St.Thomas7 Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 ]http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10341~1757828,00.html In case anyone going tonight cares... ;-) FIFA 2010 in EA Sports Hub? Maybe thats why everyone is going to this one... always been a PES kinda guy to be honest...
VectisSaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Why do they persist in calling AP 'the ex-West Ham boss' FFS? Sounds better than the ex-Reading boss or the ex-Charlton boss I suppose. At least he is not the ex-Saints boss.
Danny Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 (edited) http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/video/88811/ Alan Pardew, the ex-West Ham boss speaks. Edited 18 August, 2009 by Danny
s0108787 Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 (edited) I think we could go 4-4-1-1 - Davis - James - Perry - Thomas - Harding Melis - Schneiderlin - Gillett - Holmes Lallana Lambert Subs: Bialkowski, Lancashire, Gobern, Wotton, Paterson, Rasiak To be fair, that team SHOULD be able to jizz all over a very poor Swindon team. That said, we'll probably loose 5-0!! I'm in for it as i'll be in the town end with the Swindon fans too... Edited 18 August, 2009 by s0108787
RedArmy Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Nothing less than a win, we need this point deduction off our back ASAP.
Thedelldays Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Nothing less than a win, we need this point deduction off our back ASAP. indeed IMO we need AT LEAST 4 point this week...at least.. Hopefully we will get 6
Thedelldays Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 assuming Murty is out...I would go with... Davies James----Thomas---perry---harding Thompson---Melis--Morgan---Holmes Saga----Lambert I know it is light in the middle but hey ho
VectisSaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 assuming Murty is out...I would go with... Davies James----Thomas---perry---harding Thompson---Melis--Morgan---Holmes Saga----Lambert I know it is light in the middle but hey ho Light, bloody hell I could waltz through that midfield
SamKimish Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Again, assuming Murty isn't fully fit, I'd go for ... Davis James - Perry - Thomas - Harding Thomson - Spiderman - Gillet - Holmes Lallana Lambert Then in the second half, bring on Melis for whoever is performing the worst in the midfield and Thomson off for Paterson (putting Pato up front with Lambert and Lallana on the right) That leaves the two poles spare and Lancastrated on the bench should one of the oldies get too knackered.
Pilchards Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Don't understand why we don't put saga & Gobern in midfield as they would run a whole 45 minutes to close down which then would leave the creators to spray the ball across the park.
saintjay77 Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 For my last post of the day........ Up the Saints!
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Don`t care what side AP picks just want us to win............... COYR
Pilchards Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 (edited) Been looking at Swindons recent performances and all our away games since the friendlies and it really does point to a Swindon victory, However after looking at the squads we come out 7 nil winners. Bizarre or wot? Edited 18 August, 2009 by Pilchards
Pilchards Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 For my last post of the day........ Up the Saints! Oh good, You're a ***t....... ;-)

Greenridge Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 This really is a must win game otherwise the depression will sink in with us 10 points adrift again... (DING) 'My dinner is ready byeeeee' That could just about get the award for the earliest shout in a season as a 'must win' lol.
Colinjb Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 That could just about get the award for the earliest shout in a season as a 'must win' lol. As far as i'm concerned while we are propping up the league they are all must win.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 And the team is: Davis Harding Thomas Lancashire james Mellis Spiderman wotton Lallana Lambert Paterson Perry can only play one game a week then, unless he has injury. Come on saints get some crosses in for lambo:D Subs???

Saint Charlie Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Rasiak, Perry and Murty out Paterson, Lancashire and Mellis in. Davis James Thomas Lancashire Harding Mellis Schneiderlin Wotton Lallana Lambert Paterson
Window Cleaner Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Rasiak, Perry and Murty out Paterson, Lancashire and Mellis in. Davis James Thomas Lancashire Harding Mellis Schneiderlin Wotton Lallana Lambert Paterson Good to see Pardew has finally seen the light about Perry although Lancashire replacing him is of little comfort.Maybe we won't concede from kids football set pieces today. Still no Gillett, mind you it's not really surprising he is clumsy and dire but then again so is Wotton, probably more so.
John B Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Rasiak, Perry and Murty out Paterson, Lancashire and Mellis in. Davis James Thomas Lancashire Harding Mellis Schneiderlin Wotton Lallana Lambert Paterson Three old pros out three youngsters in then
John B Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Good to see Pardew has finally seen the light about Perry although Lancashire replacing him is of little comfort.Maybe we won't concede from kids football set pieces today. Yes I thought he may have been replaced by Wotton
skintsaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Rasiak, Perry and Murty out Paterson, Lancashire and Mellis in. Out with the oldies...in with the youth.
The Godfather Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Out with the oldies...in with the youth. Perry struggles to play two games in a week and Murty's not fit. Good to see Paterson starting.
Deanovski Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Saints: Davis, James, Thomas, Lancashire, Harding, Schneiderlin, Wotton, Mellis, Lallana, Lambert, Lambert. Subs: Bialkowski, Perry, Gillett, Rasiak, Thomson, Gobern, Saganowski.
beatlesaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Perry struggles to play two games in a week and Murty's not fit. Good to see Paterson starting. Wish we would sign a centre half or two pretty quickly.......Swindon strikers must be rubbing their hands at the thought of facing Lancashire.
eelpie Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Wish we would sign a centre half or two pretty quickly.......Swindon strikers must be rubbing their hands at the thought of facing Lancashire. And without Gillett in the centre they can go straight through the middle.
saints triumph Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 With the LAMBERT brothers up front we will score for fun. Just hope we can keep a clean sheet, but I doubt it.
Saint_Si Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Saints: Davis, James, Thomas, Lancashire, Harding, Schneiderlin, Wotton, Mellis, Lallana, Lambert, Lambert. Subs: Bialkowski, Perry, Gillett, Rasiak, Thomson, Gobern, Saganowski. 2 Lamberts. Wishful thinking on their behalf! It'll be interesting to see how Mellis does. Come on Saints- we really need a win tonight!
Colinjb Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Two Lamberts - good plan! I never realised that Cloning technology was in the Leibherr Group's portfolio!
eurosaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Two Lamberts - good plan! Presume patterson is up front with him as Raz and Sag are on the bench ??
J Bizzle Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 And without Gillett in the centre they can go straight through the middle. He's ****, hence why he doesn't start..... Are you thick or something?
