.comsaint Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 Here he is at Huddersfield doing exactly what he's paid to do - and that's score goals. I'm immensely impressed with this lad. He's scored in every game he's played in so far - and will score plenty more this season providing he gets the service of course. Along with Kelvin - they're the only 2 players to leave West Yorkshire on saturday with any credit ...
RedAndWhite91 Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 Did we sing - He stands just over 6 foot 3, Rickie, Rickie, He’ll take us to the Premier League, Rickie, Rickie, He gets the ball, he takes the ****, He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss, Ricky Lambert, Southamptons Goal machine I'd love it if we did.
Michelle Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 Huddersfield fans didn't seem to like him much today, did he used to play for them and left on bad terms or summat?

Yep, couple of rounds of it got going.
Window Cleaner Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 Lambert-29 goal a season asset Defence-80 goal a season liability Wouldn't get insurance from many companies with those stats.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 Yep, couple of rounds of it got going. Brilliant Happy with that, hopefully (if I can get tickets on Monday) get it going at Swindon too. That's my input to the Southampton fan base.

They tried signing him this summer, but his wages were too big or something like that and Hudds pulled out as they thought he'd have no sell on value due to his age.

Sounds like they're more used to goat trading in those distant nether regions

Window Cleaner Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 Pardew's face says it all during the game: And so it should, if you can't defend set pieces in this league you are f*cked. I have seen a lot of blame apportioned to the midfield but if every corner and free kick sets the alrm bells clanging it's not the midfield that's at fault, it's the f*cking short assed defence.
Junior Mullet Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 We aint been able to defend from set pieces for ages. I really hope AP can get this sorted. Signing Seize would help IMO. I also think Thomas should be replaced - he just isnt good enough.

PS: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4542968.JP_s__come_and_get_me__plea_to_Saints/ Looks like I missed out a hyphen then, re-sign, how does that look? The Echo is mainly bullsh*t with small adds to pay the bills. I'd believe the Mirror or the Star before the Echo

ooarrlatvian Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 They tried signing him this summer, but his wages were too big or something like that and Hudds pulled out as they thought he'd have no sell on value due to his age. That's pretty much it. Rovers were asking £1M, Udders Field said that he would be 30 by the end of his contract and worthless and were reportedly offering HALF that. As you can see he's worth every penny of what Saints paid for him. AND he hasn't scored any free kicks or long range rockets yet! BTW don't beat yourselves up about losing today. I've watched a great deal of L1 football and I honestly believe that Saints have played two of the best sides in this league so far. Millwall have Kenny Jackett- one of the best men ever to manage in the lower tiers. Huddersfield have LOADS of money having recently had a takeover and were outright favourites to get promotion last season, even before the takeover I believe. I was at SMS on Tuesday and saw enough in that performance to be convinced that Saints can get out of this league at the first attempt. A central defender would be top of my shopping list, preferrably someone like Izzy Iriekpen who unfortunately has just moved to Scotland and the SPL. I can't remember his name, but Crewe Alex had a great central defender when Rovers played them last season. Very mobile, tall and imposing. It should be back to winning ways on Tuesday at Swindle anyway. Cheers, Sladey.
Junction 9 Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 I just want a player called Butler to partner Lambert up front. I don't care if he's any good or not.
S-Clarke Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 Great stats for Lambo Played 3 - Scored 3. This is how he started last season according the the rovers fans, scored in everyone of their first 10 games i think? He certainly knows where the goal is - would love him to be supported by width though.

VectisSaint Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 Great stats for Lambo Played 3 - Scored 3. Won 1 Lost 2
Rational Rich Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 I just want a player called Butler to partner Lambert up front. I don't care if he's any good or not. Former Reading striker Martin Butler would do the job
ART Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 Thank you .comsaint for the match treats. Saw a definite Ron Davies leap in that first photo of Ricky but shrank with horror in seeing Alan Pardew looking too much like Jan in his final days when he knew there was little he could do. Just hope it won't come to that. Just hope that they get the Director of Sport appointment and choice of Board members right. Steve Coppell anyone?
ooarrlatvian Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 I've just uploaded this to youtube. It's much better quality than other videos of the same goal on youtube. One of the best goals I've ever seen, Lambert hits it on the drop, on the volley, from 35 yards out. Amazing! I hope he continues to score goals like this.
Cabrone Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 He looks a pretty determined guy - someone you want in the trenches with you, great signing. Just need to sort out the service and he'll tear this division up.
