LOL

unreal, I will remember this thread when we are sat in midtable come January

I say this confidently as we have the best manager in the league, the best striker in the league, the best keeper in the league, some decent players who will get better and no doubt will be added to with more additions now and in Jan...

sure we will lose again like we did sat but I bet we win more

Then we agree. I am saying the same thing... just that I am not taking those reinforcements for granted.

I think we could win a few at home if the support stays solidly behind the team. Away we could struggle while waiting for the reinforcements to arrive. We desperately need some spine and we need it now.

Yes I agree defence is probably as good as last year

Midfield is probably worse with Surman McGoldrick gone but the attack probably better

I tend to agree with you on that point.

The midfield is TOO lightweight - and lacking in experience. They may look good in the practice but it's a tough league, and playing " pretty football " doesn't win games (evident last season).

I like James, Lallana and Scheiderlin (as individual players with skill) but games are won (and in this case ) lost in midfield. Gillett is better than all three in this role. Although Wotton isn't the world's best, he is tough enough to give it out and we need a couple more " hard " ball winners midfield, or it won't work.

Also Perry and Thomas are too much the same sort of defender.

Claus was good BECAUSE he played alongside Svensson, who was the toughie. Perry /and /or Thomas need to play alongside a " tough hard case " who can control the box and win the headers every time.

Ollie should go out on loan immediately, if we have this skilful Chelsea lad,

(Mellis) he should have priority until January.

We are 3 players away from having a competitive team to challenge in this league imo.A big no nonense central defender,a midfield maestro and a pacy striker.(needed this transfer window)Maybe we also need a pacy winger

We are then 3 players away from having a side potentially capable of dominating this league.A second pacy central defender, and 2 better wingers than we currently have 1 with real pace.We would also need a back up striker if Rasiak & Saga have left.

I have a feeling that certain players will be on the last chance saloon on Tues night and AP will certainly challenge the team for a big reaction to the Huddersfield fiasco.Wooton and Perry must be in this category and maybe Thomas & James

In the ideal world we will sign 2 strikers,2 centre backs and 2 midfielders this transfer window but I accept this is unlikely to happen.

What midfield position does this colchester guy play that we are linked to?

Central midfield.

Was looking up on him earlier and he wants out because Colchester cannot guarantee him a place in the team. Seems odd, as he was one of their better players last year.

The main reason there are so many faint hearts on here was that saturday was a reproduction of last seasons performances. Without Kelvin we would have been 2 down in no time and facing a Norwich type of score. We have no spine at all in our team and AP is obviously finding it hard to find players that will improve our side so late in the transfer window. So far we have seen 4 players brought in. Murty is probably going to do ok. Harding on Saturdays showing will struggle at times but so do quality defenders in the Premier League. Perry is now slower than last year and seems to be shrinking as we are playing sides filled with height and strength. Town also had some speed and we just are not equipped for that. Thomas is an accident waiting to happen. Apart from the penalty he is not positionally aware and for a man of his size can get brushed aside at times. A lot to do with timing as well as strength.

The midfield is the same as last season, woeful.Wotton could/can make a snail look jet propelled. He stands there shouting and waving his arms frantically but does nothing to help the team actually as far as playing goes. James can cross as we saw against Millwall and Northampton. However he does not have the speed to worry defences. Lallana should be playing for a powder puff girls side because he will just not put himself anywhere near a hard tackle. Unles it is a late tackle and then he gets booked. Schneiderlin looks as though he is the only player in midfield who can rgularly find one of our team when passing. For him though we have the same physical liability. Too weak by far to make his mark on a game at this level unless given time.

Rasiak will probably go very soon so we need a replacement. Please let that player have some pace and size. Lambert is not the fastest player on the planet so needs the ball passed/crossed to him in a way that he can then do something with the ball. Like smash it into the net or lay it off for someone else.

Fish will be back soon and what is the problem with Gillett? He may not be the best passer in the book but at least he is quicker than Wotton.

We are in desperate need of players that can bully other teams in the way we have been getting bullied in recent times. For me, that means 2 big no nonsence CB's and 2 big strong midfielders. Add another forward, striker/wingman, and we will have the basic qualities necessary for this league. In time we will surely get them but till we do we know we are going to struggle. Only hope that we have is that we now have a goalscoring striker and a manager that speaks sence. He has seen how poor we are and I trust he will repair the damage of the last few years but it will take time.

Like some I am hoping to see improvement as the season progresses but I don't expect it to be swift. Like most of our team.

we wont be in a relegation battle ffs..sure it will take us longer than a few games to get out of the bottom 3 but we will not be in a relegation battle...that i am sure, we have too many decent players not to be

You were sure Wotte would keep us up and you were dead wrong then. Forgive me if I don't trust your opinion this time. :smt015
