Thedelldays Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 we have had a harder start than most and had had to settle etc etc blah blah.. now is time to start racking up the points... IMO we should gain NO LESS than 6 points from the swindon and Brentford games..any less would be a let down IMO

Thedelldays Posted 15 August, 2009 Author Posted 15 August, 2009 not some must win matches all ready well yes...aren't they all..?
Amesbury Saint Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 well yes...aren't they all..? yes, although some are happy for a draw
Thedelldays Posted 15 August, 2009 Author Posted 15 August, 2009 yes, although some are happy for a draw would you be happy for a draw against swindon and then a home game..?
NorthamSteve Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 I was going to say you're a bit early, but not anymore. Yes, losing to Hudderfield is no embarrassment, but Brentford and Swindon I would expect to be below us at the end of the season.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 Not winning the next two games would be very poor tbh. Not right to get worried yet, but too many defeats will see the squad lose self-belief.
saint_mears Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 The team is still being worked on and i cannot believe people are expecting instant wins with the team Pardew inherited. Its going to be several more games before things start to get better at least. Lets have some realism !!

I agree, coming to a place like Huddersfield could have done with being a few months later.... but now it's over...and the fixtures coming up are ''winnable''

Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 7 points for 4 games would be ok. Hoped for 9 though....... to slow with signings and team still short of 4 or 5 players.
Saint_Jonny Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 From listening to the radio today it sounds like we've been totally battered. It was advertised as an unlikely win given hudds' being one of the faves this year, but all the same the midfield and central defence sounds like its been woeful. Ball retention is non existent at the moment, this needs working on AP!!
saints_is_the_south Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 9 from the next 3 is needed now imo
Thedelldays Posted 15 August, 2009 Author Posted 15 August, 2009 7 points for 4 games would be ok. Hoped for 9 though....... to slow with signings and team still short of 4 or 5 players. remember..it is all about consolidation and taking our time..dont want to sign any old player you know..

Errr you must be new here - we are the Saints Web Forum - we want it and we want it now - no 'ifs', 'buts' or 'excuses' - got it, not in one games time, or two - now, instant success or your out...! Welcome to the real world...!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 remember..it is all about consolidation and taking our time..dont want to sign any old player you know.. Yep the happy clappers will arrive very soon.
Thedelldays Posted 15 August, 2009 Author Posted 15 August, 2009 Yep the happy clappers will arrive very soon. they will probably tell me i am mental for thinking we can beat swindon
saint_mears Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 mayeb we are You are over expecting to be honest and this season is all about finishing mid table.
Thedelldays Posted 15 August, 2009 Author Posted 15 August, 2009 You are over expecting to be honest and this season is all about finishing mid table. says who...? do you not think we are capable and have the players now to beat swindon..?
Paul Chuckle Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 There is no strength in depth at all, the subs bench just looks so weak and are not players who will change or influence a game. If anything when we bring a sub on it makes our team weaker than it already is I am sure there will be a few signings this week
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 they will probably tell me i am mental for thinking we can beat swindon The Swindon game is two months too soon. we missed all of the pre season and AP has only been in charge for a few days. give it time. be happy that we have a club.
Legod Third Coming Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 You are over expecting to be honest and this season is all about finishing mid table. Every season should be about one thing only - winning the next game. If you simply set out to win every game you will end up higher in the league than if you target 'survival' or 'mid-table' or 'safety'. This is all about mental attitude. I agree that mid-table would not be a disaster. We should aim for better.
brightspark Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 9 from the next 3 is needed now imo I feel that way too. Although, I think 10 from the next 12 may better put across my exact feelings!!!!! Whatever the case, we need points quick, because as the patience doctors seem to forget... we are way behind the pack and are currently in a relegation battle (whether we are at the end of the season is irrelivant... as redknapp said when he took over spurs last season, they were in a relegation battle. same applies to us.)
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 You are over expecting to be honest and this season is all about finishing mid table. why?
Dan Johnson Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 can not believe we're putting pressure on the team after TWO games!! if this was our 10th game and we were still a drift I might share some of your concerns... we've played TWO games!

We have made a poor start, yes only two games gone but with -10 points we WILL be adrift after ten games.
eharty9 Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 will be happy if we are 10 points off the playoffs at the end of the season
John B Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 We have made a poor start, yes only two games gone but with -10 points we WILL be adrift after ten games. It is usually difficult to truly recover from a bad start but lets hope we do
egreog Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 I would imagine 3 points from the next 2 games would be considered an excellent return with the current squad............perhaps with addition of new blood, maybe 4 points............6 is way too ambitious with the current players available!
