St. Jason Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Saints have been drawn at home to play Birmingham in the second round of the Carling cup, a winnable game imo!!
converted_saint Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Good home tie. And one that I'm optimistic we could win! Maybe?!?!
saints_is_the_south Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Repeat of the score from last season would be nice too!
St. Jason Posted 12 August, 2009 Author Posted 12 August, 2009 A yawn of a tie. not with our new super dooper team and mentality!!!
Saint Charlie Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Not bad, they will play reserves probably so could be winnable. At least we are at home.
topsteward Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 should be a tuesday night as pome£ are at home also.
S-Clarke Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Not bad i guess, nice to be at home - should be a decent game
saints_is_the_south Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Atleast the Northam should be open too. Tickets on sale tomorrow or Friday I'd imagine considering it's only a week Tuesday since the game, shouldn't be any more than £15 I'd imagine, hopefully ST holders to be renewed with lower prices again too!
converted_saint Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 listen to all this postivity, not been heard around Southampton for many a year!
markr27 Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Should be a decent attendance for the game, probably to be touted as against the "premiership newcomers Birmingham" in an attempt to boost the numbers... Unreserved seating is out the window I suspect also!
countysaint Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 And theres me stying up 'till 10.30 on a work night to watch SSN to see the draw live and St Jason goes and forsees that we got Birmingham in the next round! Oh well off to bed then.
the_barmy_saints_army Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 to be honest i didn't care who it was as long as it was at home!
WealdSaint Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Our first act of giant killing ;-) Not a bad draw...........winnable
dune Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 A good draw against good opposition. That's just what we need. If you play sh*t you play sh*t.
docker-p Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Possibly the most boring uninteresting tie we could have got. yawn
TopGun Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 A good draw for us. An early chance to test our new mettle against a better rated club. Quite sure Brum won't be pleased.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Home draw, always helpful. And another chance to have some fun at the expense of Mr Vodafone, Kevin Phillips.
farawaysaint Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 We get to play a prem club at home??? I predict a full house
westofshannonsaint Posted 12 August, 2009 Posted 12 August, 2009 Our first act of giant killing ;-) Not a bad draw...........winnable Just what I thought, how many times have we fallen victim to opposition two leagues below us? I am starting to believe in Karma...
saint_boysie Posted 13 August, 2009 Posted 13 August, 2009 "Stand up if you've ****ged kev's wife" i was just thinking that! i have a feeling an old friend might get a run out!!! hahahahahaha..
fanimal Posted 13 August, 2009 Posted 13 August, 2009 Lovin it! Two wins? Rather have the three points v the Bees? Back in the UK for good from the 21st, best return welcome!
chrisobee Posted 13 August, 2009 Posted 13 August, 2009 Can think of many worse/more boring draws than this one. We have a Premier league team at home and a realistic chance of winning. Give me that than say Spurs away any time.
saints_is_the_south Posted 13 August, 2009 Posted 13 August, 2009 Tickets might be on sale tomorrow, club just agreeing ticket prices with Birmingham at the moment.
Fan The Flames Posted 13 August, 2009 Posted 13 August, 2009 Possibly the most boring uninteresting tie we could have got. yawn I do tend to agree, it not an unusual local derby, or rarely played lower club. Its a tie against a smaller club that happen to be in the prem. The only interesting thing about it is that it is a home tie.
Lets B Avenue Posted 13 August, 2009 Posted 13 August, 2009 Hampshire are at home that evening in a floodlit game v. Glouucester. Any chance of Saints doing the decent thing and playing Wednesday.
Chez Posted 13 August, 2009 Posted 13 August, 2009 Hampshire are at home that evening in a floodlit game v. Glouucester. Any chance of Saints doing the decent thing and playing Wednesday. great idea. Let the club know.
paulwantsapint Posted 13 August, 2009 Posted 13 August, 2009 Offer Brum a win on condition Kev Phillips signs for us & brum pay his wages SKP & Rickie The Hitman Lambert up front would be worth about 60 goals
The Saturday Boy Posted 14 August, 2009 Posted 14 August, 2009 (edited) Match confirmed to be played on Tuesday 25th August, which rather annoyingly clashes with Hampshire's day/night game against Gloucs at the Rose Bowl. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1754454,00.html Edited 14 August, 2009 by The Saturday Boy Muppetry
