Legod Second Coming Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 Is the recession or threat thereof meaning that you are spending or are planning to spend less watching Saints, buying merchandise, etc? I'm interested to know what effect the economy might really have on us?
eelpie Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 I did cut back by not getting a season ticket this year, since I was unable to get to several midweek games last year. That is my economy. But I still intend to go to as many games as I did last year with the ST. So for me it is small savings like that only.
Thedelldays Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 of course the recession (or what ever we are supposed to call it) has an effect...the way prices are going up I would be amazed if we had the same crowds as last year...everthing is just more expensive... still, easier to blame lowe etc
Saints1980 Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 As I live 40 miles away and a non driver, I'm just picking my games more carefully.
Jesus Reigned Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 I can't really see how a recession per se would affect anyone, unless they got made redundant or something as a result of it? If I was to lose my job, as a fair number of my colleagues recently have, of course it would affect my decision of whether to go or not, but until I do any recession would not play any part.

Deppo Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 I will be buying a gnome, but not attending the games.
Jesus Reigned Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 The guy was asking about the THREAT of a recession, and the threat of a recession has no bearing on me whatsoever.
H Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 I wont be buying a gnome. And I certainly won't be going to the James Bond premiere ...
Weston Super Saint Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 And I certainly won't be going to the James Bond premiere ... Oh come on, £65 to watch a movie is great value
harvey Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 Is the recession or threat thereof meaning that you are spending or are planning to spend less watching Saints, buying merchandise, etc? I'm interested to know what effect the economy might really have on us? It is what it is, but my own personal opinion is that if the media didn't do so much scaremongering, then things wouldn't be so bad. Would the recent slump in the economy stop me doing the things that I enjoy, not at all.
Colinjb Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 All I know is that things are now more expensive. Fuel is killing me.
harvey Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 All I know is that things are now more expensive. Fuel is killing me. My thoughts are with you mate. I put approx £70.00 of diesel a week in my van, but I'm not paying for it (firms fuel card). If I had to run a vehicle out of my own pocket, it would cripple me .
Andy_Porter Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 It doesn't affect me in the slightest, i'm spending the same amount on merchandise (£0) and still got my ST and going to a few away games when I can be arsed.
LGTL Posted 5 September, 2008 Posted 5 September, 2008 Spend money while you have it I say. Might be dead by tomorrow.

Rattlehead Posted 6 September, 2008 Posted 6 September, 2008 No difference here. I still can't be bothered to go.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 6 September, 2008 Posted 6 September, 2008 It's not just the threat of a recession , it's very much a living breathing reality now . My firm's going to have a staff meeting on Tuesday where redudancies will be confirmed . If I'm on that list I'll have a season ticket but no means to afford the travel costs to actually attend the games I've already paid for , not an ideal situation to put it mildly .
Mmm Donuts Posted 6 September, 2008 Posted 6 September, 2008 The fuel costs have made me choose which games we go to this season. As we live in Bedfordshire, me and my son will go on more away days than home games this season.

I do hope your name is not on the list

I wish you well fellow Saints supporter with your employment. As regards match days contact me as I travel up from Honiton quite a few times through season to see family and attend games and will be able to help. I am sure there are a few others coming from this direction.
tttdcs Posted 6 September, 2008 Posted 6 September, 2008 I blame Lee Todd. For the recession or the gnome?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 6 September, 2008 Posted 6 September, 2008 Thanks for the kind words Half Time & Ottery , hopefully I'll be alright but it's a worrying time as I'm sure you appreciate .
West End Saint Posted 6 September, 2008 Posted 6 September, 2008 I have bought my ST but I wont be going to as many away games as I have the last two seasons and I wont be spending as much on pre match refreshment for the first time in years I now have to carefully consider before spending Boooo it is rubbish

InvictaSaint Posted 6 September, 2008 Posted 6 September, 2008 Calm down all - once this new super particle accelerator kicks into gear next week, the black hole it's bound to create will see an end to the recession, the credit crunch, Lowe.....welll, pretty much existence as a whole actually. Nice knowing yers all..... :-)
Deppo Posted 6 September, 2008 Posted 6 September, 2008 All I know is that things are now more expensive. Fuel is killing me. Drink something else then.
