Most people think the Isle of Wight is behind the times, you obviously think it is ahead No matter, here in Wiltshire its past your bedtime Still odd, it is on the Football League web site, but nowhere else By the way, the FL site says we are away not home...Unless of course its 2 legs, thought they scrapped that. converted_saint Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 did anyone actually understand the draw?! what with the seedings etc. already determining some teams were home/away, made for a very c*ck-*rsed draw. whatever happened to just drawing teams at random?! The 13 Premier League teams not in Europe, Newcastle and Middlesborough (who recieved a First Round bye) and the 10 remaining Championship sides with the highest final League position from last year were seeded. The other 25 teams were not. Before the televised draw, all the unseeded teams were assigned whether they would be at home or away, and placed in some arbitrary order. Then, the 25 seeded sides were drawn out on SSN one after the other. The first seeded side to be drawn will play the first unseeded side in the ordering, the second plays the second, etc. Hopefully that explains it. I'm not sure why they've gone at it like this though, I seem to remember that previous years have had a seeded and geographically split First Round, but then a free draw for all the rounds after. Cabrone Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Decent draw, great chance for the lads to see how well they can do against prem opposition. Hopefully by the time of the game we will be confidently in the winning way and Brum will have had their backsides kicked a few times. If we play well I think it's winnable. Given both us and Pompey were drawn at home, one of the games will be on Tuesday and one on Wednesday I assume. Old Bill don't allow us to both be at home on same day AFAIK.
