bigtonesfc Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I had tickets for Itchen north,but by the time i got to the ground they had shut the gates,ended up in Chapel corner!Thousands stuck outside and were still coming in half way through first half!Saying that though,there was no Northam but still three "ends" singing...2 in the Itchen! Really enjoyed the game,just strange being lost at half time looking for a pie when you at home!

My 2 lads & I got there over an hour before the game. Ended up sitting just by the Northampton dugout. Really great game, really great seats:-) well worth turning up early. Felt really sorry for the steward who had to keep a load of seats free for WAGs and friends of players , just behind the dugout. Only about 10 turned up, and he was left guarding a load of empty seats.

I have to say we ambled up at 7:35pm last night with our pre-purchased tickets to find the club was gradually opening all the turnstiles in the Itchen to get everyone in asap, and we were in within 5 minutes once we'd found the shortest queue. Though the queue to the Northam-side ticket office (as opposed to the Main one) was back to block 41 outside at that point ! I also didn't see anyone coming into the ground after kick-off, which I thought was weird given how many there were outside 5 minutes before. And there must have been WAY more than 10,900 there, weren't both the Itchen and Kingsland practically full ? Isn't that over half the ground, at least 15,000 anyway with the Itchen-end segregation ? Actually thought the club dealt with it pretty well, shame people all seem to think they have the right to pitch up just before kick-off and walk straight in. And I think moaning that "we had tickets to the Itchen North" when the game's been unreserved seating for a few days, is a bit petty.

And it was very noticeable how empty the Directors' Box was - just a few in the very front row and a rather solitary figure sitting on his own half way back (left specs at home so haven't got a clue who it was). No sign of the genial Geordie, old Mr Southampton himself, - must be on holiday. This policy of 'pay for your own seat' has certainly thinned out the good and the great.

As soon as the game kicked off, we were told we could go to turnstiles and pay on the gate if we had the right money. Only to go into the Kingsland though.

He couldn't have reserved his ST seat cos there was no option to. Must admit I was a little envious that my seat was taken up by a rather large lady who I managed to sit behind. Hope she hasn't damaged my seat in anyway

For me it was not having a beer but travelling 30 odd miles parking up and then walkiing to the ground.I was not expecting a queue that stretched back to the burgar vans...perhaps I got in the wrong line.lol

How long after the first tickets were sold (with seat allocation) did it change to open seating? The lesson here must be for everyone to check the OS for any changes to the ticketing policy for cup games.

If he got thrown out, it was in the second half because he came back down to the front at half time. yeh it was during the half-time break.....from what i could see/hear he took a photo of the lad who was sitting in 'his' seat on his phone (without asking) and the people around the lad got irate and started shouting at him........thats when the stewards removed him. stupid bloke wasted £10 on a game he never really got to see......:smt102

The Leon and Lawrie Box was open last night (one of 3 or 4 boxes in use) and there were 8-10 in that box. I couldn't see who was there.
