revolution saint Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Just what does this say about our owners? A total lack of ambition. I've specifically taken this week off because i was promised signings and so far....we've had one. That's not good enough. Not even any good rumours either just people saying who they think would be good. I'm prepared to rave about players I've never seen as long as we've bought them (and hopefully trebled their wages) but so far since way back yesterday there's not been a sniff of a signing. SKY Sports has just reported that there's less than 22 days till the end of the transfer window - that's not enough time to get the 300 players I feel we need to really make an impression in this league.

You're quite right. Having new owners with a German/Swiss background, I'd expected that with typical Teutonic efficiency we'd have things running like clockwork on this front. It couldn't be that our English manager is the weak link that is holding things up, could it?

It couldn't be that our English manager is the weak link that is holding things up, could it? That's the other thing....why do we need just the one manager? I love new manager threads as well and to be fair we've never had enough managers for my liking. We need at least one per player or we'll be relegated. When that happens i want more than one chairman to blame as well.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I think you will find the club is on the verge of announcing that Anthony Pulis has signed a contract extension - great news I think we can all agree .
the saint in winchester Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Gentlemen - and that rather fine lady on Draino's avatar, There may be MANY 24 hours where we don't sign anyone. It just builds the excitement for the next signing and gives us a chance to gather a head of steam and overcome with anticipation. Who are we predicting next? I think that Scottish midfielder will be next - the wee man as recommended by the wee man.

John B Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Get in! Scottish Midgets Rule! I dont really understand why somebody from Scotland would come down here to a League 1 club but I await developments with interest
Panda Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 You know, it is the take over threads I really miss ... we have not a had a really good take over for over a month now and it is just not the same somehow thinking about, talking about and watching football. I liked the thrust of political debate, the taking sides, the name calling, the smart ITKers, the subtle use of irony, etc
SNSUN Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I think you will find the club is on the verge of announcing that Anthony Pulis has signed a contract extension - great news I think we can all agree . I'm wasting my last post of the day to say I lol'd at that. I actually think the club is being run very badly. I'm sat at home, glued to SSN and the internet, and nothing. Where's the bloody drama? As a Saint since 88, I've never experienced such a lack of drama and quietness. It's boring. I was so bored the other day in fact, that whilst watching SSN, I had to crack one out at Millie Clode just to liven things up a bit. YAWN! If our next signing doesn't have a double-barrelled name, I'm shaving off my pubes. Double barrelled names are the way to go from now on IMO. Never should have let Dutton-Black go. A fine double barrelled name there.
IamLeGod Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Clearly we have all been taken for mugs again, anyone got a number for Tony Lynam/Fialka or Marc Jackson? Liebherr needs to be ousted! Pardew needs to go too, he has had like 3/4 weeks now and we havent been promoted yet. Another false dawn blah blah blah

bigchrisy Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 And I wanted a 30 goal a season striker! 29 is no where near good enough!

labibs Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 You mean we haven't signed anyone so far today? I have been in meetings all morning and fully expected to log onto here to see that we have signed at least five players, preferably all in positions where we already have ample cover (we're desperately short of a keeper aren't we..?) And we're not in the play-off places yet. The season is already 4 days old. Disgusting
Redondo Saint Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 You're quite right. Having new owners with a German/Swiss background, I'd expected that with typical Teutonic efficiency we'd have things running like clockwork on this front. Dan Johnson Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 300 players I feel we need to really make an impression in this league. Just 300... you lack ambition... ffs
dubai_phil Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I'm totally in agreement with the OP, I think it is a complete disgrace that we haven't stolen some much loved superstar from a rival club for 24 hours. In fact it is so disgusting I think it is time that we started putting our efforts into rebuilding the Saints Trust. Us fans need a voice. While you chaps over there get on with that, I'll see if I can Skype MJ, I'm sure he still has the biz plan, I know he had one dead keen and experienced backer that he had to turn down before as he'd already made his bid toFry at the time What's more I can call him for free down here...... Wonder what his surgery hours are?
westofshannonsaint Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 SKY Sports has just reported that there's less than 22 days till the end of the transfer window OMG.... that is nowhere near enough time to build our squad to L1 standard... Were 9 points away from safety FFS and ALREADY 12 points away from promotion. You're quite right. Having new owners with a German/Swiss background, I'd expected that with typical Teutonic efficiency we'd have things running like clockwork on this front. It couldn't be that our English manager is the weak link that is holding things up, could it? Very true, it's just like on Grand Designs when the German Builders get held up, I too am surprised that our new owner did not go for an efficient manager (sorry, Head Coach) with experience in the lower (European) leagues.
madsent Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I dont really understand why somebody from Scotland would come down here to a League 1 club but I await developments with interest Because a decent Scottish player can earn more in our L1 than at most clubs in the SPL. A good example is Stephen Hughes at Norwich. He's earning £7k/week in L1 which is a lot more than he was earning at Motherwell.
Chez Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 The exact wording in the echo: "Pardew said he is also hoping to secure the services of a new centre back soon and added a deal for Radhi Jaidi wasn’t completely dead yet. " to me suggests that Pardew has identified and made an approach for a centre back - perhaps Raynes from Stockport - and the Jardi deal may turn out to be in addition to this signing, rather than a choice between the two. That would be fantastic in my eyes as neither Thomas of Perry are good enough IMO.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Don't know what everyone is bleating on about - I've never been happier TBF. (lol).
Crispypie Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 where can i buy some shares so i can be voted on to the board and stir some s**t so we can get some new threads going?
IamLeGod Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Taken for mugs again? I have an uncomfortable feeling that the ST ticket deadline has once again co-incided beautifully with the start to the season. And like other previous years, we all stump up our ST money hoping for a rejuvenated and improved team, only to be informed that there's no money to improve the squad. AP's latest commentary in the Echo on playing kids is not too encouraging - heard that one before have we not? I know we've just been saved and we should be eternally grateful and all that stuff, but I hate feeling that I've been taken for a mug once again by paying my hard-earned for a sub-standard product. Come on Markus and Alan - give us something to really cheer about so we can start this next season of games on a high. PLEASE! This I'd imagine?
SaintDonkey Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I - (cartoon character) - sheep - Benitez Is this is a hidden code? Iris bat ewe nose = I is batty you knows? Crouchie's Lawyer is just trying to say he's lost it
Hatch Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 What I want to know is, was the fiver I donated to sponsor Gillet ,spent on Lambert or are they saving it for someone else. I have the serial numbers if they want to check.
amsterdam Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 And where is the llama-monkey zoo we were promised?? And the Princess Diana Towers? Were these simply pipe-dreams to con us ST-holders out of our hard earned cash? There's a recession on, in case Misters so-called ML and AP don't realise...
wightman35 Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Sorry, I think I'm in the wrong room, nurse. I'm looking for the takeover thread, so has it happened yet?
Minty Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Whilst I can't argue with some of the observations on this thread, and clearly Saints need to sort this mess out, I think we should cut them some slack, as I've heard we're about to sign an all time great striker's cousin.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I'm still waiting for f***ing Bierhoff Skacel and Adebayor FFS !!!!! Sack the F***ing board!!!!!!!!!!
david in sweden Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Hasnt Skacel signed yet? ....No, but I understand that Agustin Delgado is still around, I wonder if ...?

A bit disturbing I agree, but it's likely some tactic not to upset the team selection for tonight. Anyone who plays badly may find his place in jeopardy, when someone else is signed tomorrow morning.
ruddick Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I'm glad you said that, I will sleep more peacefully now. Hmmmmm I might sleep forever on that news.
stardustonmyfeet Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Signing Skacel would be a real statement of intent IMO. It would show the rest of the division that we are serious promotion contenders. I'm wetting myself at the prospect of him joining us.
Ruffo Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Because a decent Scottish player can earn more in our L1 than at most clubs in the SPL. A good example is Stephen Hughes at Norwich. To be honest unless you are playing for Celtic or Rangers you are not really in the SPL. you are just there cannon fodder
