hypochondriac Posted 21 September, 2009 Share Posted 21 September, 2009 He stands just over 6 foot 3, Rickie, Rickie, He’ll take us to the Premier League, Rickie, Rickie, He gets the ball, he takes the ****, He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss, Rickie Lambert, Southamptons Goal machine Met a few lads in Winchester the other night as we found out they were Saints fans, and we sung some songs on the way to a pub, and they started singing this one. Turns out they stand directly behind us in the Northam and none of us realised. When Lambert stood up to take his first penalty about 10 of us sung this but no-one else did. This was sung at Swindon, Northam Girls even handed out sheets of paper with the words on it. It was sung at Charlton too, in the pub and in the ground. I was at the pub in Charlton. That was brilliant.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 21 September, 2009 Share Posted 21 September, 2009 (edited) I was at the pub in Charlton. That was brilliant. Yeah it was, thought it was great when it was sung in there. The whole atmosphere was terrific, no complaints about our support that day. The song just needs a bit more of a push to make it a mainstream one like the others that get sung week-in, week-out. Cool, 1000th post. Edited 21 September, 2009 by RedAndWhite91

RedAndWhite91 Posted 21 September, 2009 Share Posted 21 September, 2009 Were you at the pub with the disabled kid swearing at skates? That was hilarious. No, sounds good, wish I had been haha. Was in there for only about 45 mins, we had been at the Hole in the Wall for a bit... Wilko Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 Is it 'over six feet three' or 'nearly six feet three'? I think it needs to be clarified. Wilko 5'
RedAndWhite91 Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 He is 6 foot 2 so it should be changed really, but the one we all currently sing fits well and is already known by people... Next time it is sung I will sing "He stands at nearly 6 foot 3" just for good measure.

Next time it is sung I will sing "He stands at nearly 6 foot 3" just for good measure. Accuracy doesn't really come into mate, just what sounds good and works mate. He stands at six foot 3 Rickie - Rickie He'll take us back to the Premier League Rickie - Rickie He gets the ball, he takes the p1ss He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss RICKIE LAMBERT, SOUTHAMPTON'S GOAL MACHINE NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA RICKIE - RICKIE NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA RICKIE - RICKIE He gets the ball he takes the pi1ss He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss RICKIE LAMBERT, SOUTHAMPTON'S GOAL MACHINE After all, we still sing "we're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen" I love the Super Saints but we're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen ;-)
RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 Not enough syllables in the first line Needs to be either "He stands at nearly six foot three", or "He stands just over six foot three"... The latter is already sung, the former would be better. But as long as its sung I don't mind, it's my partial claim to fame that song! But yeah, good point about the accuracy and the singing of 'greatest team the world has ever seen'

RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 I highly doubt this song will catch on. Shame - this is actually decent unlike the pigbag. Well it was sung a lot at Charlton, before the game in the pub and during the game. It seems to have gone down well with away game followers, just need to break it into the home games. Me and a few people around me sung it at Yeovil, but it didn't really catch on, so Northam Girls' song sheets are needed!!! What tune is it , I heard a lot of na na na na na nas in it Animals go in two by two, hurrah, hurrah... etc...

shurlock Posted 10 October, 2009 Share Posted 10 October, 2009 The chant is still a bit complicated for most fans - yesterday, most fans didnt know the lyrics but were joining in on the la la la la bit. And the Waigo chant is pants - it is too short, builds no momentum and exhausts itself quickly.
saintsforlife7 Posted 10 October, 2009 Share Posted 10 October, 2009 I think the lyrics are slowly catching on for Lambert, more people sung it last night than at any other game so far this season, and another good rendition next week and it will hopefully get going at St.Mary's While we're on the topic of songs, surely Lallana deserves a proper song now, he's one of our most in-form players yet he doesn't have a song? Something along the lines of that "lord of the dance" song? Ash Posted 10 October, 2009 Share Posted 10 October, 2009 Last night was the best I've heard it. My Mrs was stood singing it on her own at our end of the stand for a while. Although the atmosphere was good last night it was largely coming from one end of the stand. The bit I was sat in joined in occasionally but I felt left out. I sat in the noisy end when I arrived but had to move when some blokes insisted in sitting in their allocated seat despite it being unreserved seating Benders
