Song for Lambert (Proper)

Griffo

Recommended Posts

He stands just over 6 foot 3,

Rickie, Rickie,

He’ll take us to the Premier League,

Rickie, Rickie,

He gets the ball, he takes the ****,

He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss,

Rickie Lambert, Southamptons Goal machine

Met a few lads in Winchester the other night as we found out they were Saints fans, and we sung some songs on the way to a pub, and they started singing this one. Turns out they stand directly behind us in the Northam and none of us realised. When Lambert stood up to take his first penalty about 10 of us sung this but no-one else did. This was sung at Swindon, Northam Girls even handed out sheets of paper with the words on it. It was sung at Charlton too, in the pub and in the ground.

I was at the pub in Charlton. That was brilliant.

Yeah it was, thought it was great when it was sung in there. The whole atmosphere was terrific, no complaints about our support that day. The song just needs a bit more of a push to make it a mainstream one like the others that get sung week-in, week-out. Cool, 1000th post.

Were you at the pub with the disabled kid swearing at skates? That was hilarious.

He is 6 foot 2 so it should be changed really, but the one we all currently sing fits well and is already known by people... Next time it is sung I will sing "He stands at nearly 6 foot 3" just for good measure.

Accuracy doesn't really come into mate, just what sounds good and works mate.

He stands at six foot 3

Rickie - Rickie

He'll take us back to the Premier League

Rickie - Rickie

He gets the ball, he takes the p1ss

He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss

RICKIE LAMBERT, SOUTHAMPTON'S GOAL MACHINE

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA RICKIE - RICKIE

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA RICKIE - RICKIE

He gets the ball he takes the pi1ss

He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss

RICKIE LAMBERT, SOUTHAMPTON'S GOAL MACHINE

After all, we still sing "we're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen" I love the Super Saints but we're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen ;-)

Not enough syllables in the first line ;) Needs to be either "He stands at nearly six foot three", or "He stands just over six foot three"... The latter is already sung, the former would be better. But as long as its sung I don't mind, it's my partial claim to fame that song!

But yeah, good point about the accuracy and the singing of 'greatest team the world has ever seen' :)

He stands just over 6 foot 3,

Lambert, Lambert,

He’ll take us to the Premier League,

Lambert, Lambert,

He used to play in Blue and White,

And then he thought ‘That’s ****ing ****e’ (Couldnt think of anything else!)

Ricky Lambert, Southamptons Goal machine

Then you can build up this part:

Na na na na na na na na Lambert, Lambert,

Just like the torres one.

Is this the one that was being sung at carlise. If it is, it sounded good.

The hole in the wall that was very funny we taught the lad the Ricky Lambert song and had it going on in there & in the Antigalicain at Charlton this song needs a push to get off the ground would sound brill at Home games if we can get it going me & my Brother are giving it a bash in the Kingsland corner we be good if it gets going for Bristol game.

we have also modified it for Papa

He's Sengalise he's fast as f u c k Papa Papa

He's sengalise he's fast as f u c k Papa Papa

We brought the boy from Italy he don't look bad the TV

Papa Waigo Southamptons number 9

Would be great to hear it on Tuesday night especially as we are playing his old team!!

Here are the words (AGAIN!)

It gets sung at away games and in pubs so why not inside St. Mary's!

I highly doubt this song will catch on.

Shame - this is actually decent unlike the pigbag.

Well it was sung a lot at Charlton, before the game in the pub and during the game. It seems to have gone down well with away game followers, just need to break it into the home games. Me and a few people around me sung it at Yeovil, but it didn't really catch on, so Northam Girls' song sheets are needed!!!

What tune is it , I heard a lot of na na na na na nas in it

Animals go in two by two, hurrah, hurrah... etc...

The song really took off last night! The whole end seemed to catch on with all the words and I've been told you could hear it on the radio. Hopefully it will now catch on at home games. Somebody must have got a video of it last night????

Yep heard it clearly on the radio continuously for about 10 mins mid to end of the 2nd half, Sounded great would be amazing if we had (at least) a rendition of this from the home crowd though ... anything the scousers can do ... ;-)

Yep sounded brill and even Lambert must have heard - 1st to come over and clap us. Lots of people saying it sounded good on radio so maybe it'll catch on at home - hope so. Another good rendition at Oldham and home fans will wanna know what it's all about. Great effort from us all last night - sore throat this morning lol :-)

I think the lyrics are slowly catching on for Lambert, more people sung it last night than at any other game so far this season, and another good rendition next week and it will hopefully get going at St.Mary's

While we're on the topic of songs, surely Lallana deserves a proper song now, he's one of our most in-form players yet he doesn't have a song?

The chant is still a bit complicated for most fans - yesterday, most fans didnt know the lyrics but were joining in on the la la la la bit. And the Waigo chant is pants - it is too short, builds no momentum and exhausts itself quickly.

My suggestion...

'Papa don't pass, shoot insteadddddd'

(Papa don't preach)

No? Ok then.

Was giving this some thought the other day...

Something along the lines of that "lord of the dance" song?

"Dance, Dance, when Waigo scores in Red,

With his left, his right or even his head,

he danced when he scored a goal in italy

and he'll dance when he scores for Southampton FC..."

...shall i get my coat..??? I should point out that I am very bored...

Could be a decent chant, not sure if the 'even with his head' bit fits in with the tune though.

Last night was the best I've heard it. My Mrs was stood singing it on her own at our end of the stand for a while.

Although the atmosphere was good last night it was largely coming from one end of the stand. The bit I was sat in joined in occasionally but I felt left out.

I sat in the noisy end when I arrived but had to move when some blokes insisted in sitting in their allocated seat despite it being unreserved seating :( Benders :(

Edited and it works. Good chant that.

It did sound good last night, my only slight criticism would be that last night nobody did the last verse, everyone just did an extra 2

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA

Only a small point but I think it sounds better as typed above, try it, you know I'm right ;-)

Nobody has said we do the "gets the ball he takes the p**s" bit again at then end, it works better how it is, and he stands at six foot three, and he'll take us back to the premier league doesn't even fit into the tune.

Let's leave it how it is, it's starting to take off and everybody knows the words how they are, let's not change them again

Very creative, but I'll need to hear someone sing it first before it'll sink into my tonedeaf head! The first two lines work really well but I can't remember the tune well enough to get last the 3rd line without thinking I've scr*wed it up !
