Adam lallana......not much change?

Well, he did get his act together and is now a much better player and IMO a very good player in the left midfield position that seems to be his most productive,

It took him a while to find and adapt to his 'position'. Credit to our coaching staff for maximizing his influence on our team.

This post doesn't make you a moron. No. Anyone of us could have made this mistake and been made to look foolish 2 and a half years on.

What makes you a moron is that you consistently spout utter drivel like this and that you consistently make snap judgements based on temporary changes in circumstance i.e. one bad result, one bad performance, one good result for our rivals etc.

Of one thing I am certain; you have absolutely no clue about football whatsoever.

You got nothing better to do than dig out 3 year old threads? Sad.

A psychologist might venture that an old thread like this has as much relevance today as it did 2 years ago. Not because of the specific subject matter but because it highlights how judgemental human nature is at any moment in time.

If humans are reminded how easy it is to jump to the wrong conclusions in the past they might be tempted to offer a more pragmatic viewpoint in the present and future.

There again, this is human nature we're talking about here....

Ha ha the footballing genius "Derry" doesn't come out of it too well either

At that time he was, apart from a good touch pretty poor and he could have failed at that point but the Norwich game that season was the turning point. He made an obvious effort and was much more effective settleing in on the left side. He was at a cross roads and could easily without the personal effort he put in have slipped backwards, something that has happened to thousands of talented youngsters. I made that point at the time. Obviously reading and understanding doesn't come easily.

Lallana will need to be coached how to play the wide role this season because we are not playing the 4-2-3-1 that he grew up with in the academy. He won't play in the role just in behind the striker so he will need to learn how to play on the wing. Pardew had it right playing him on the left because a technically gifted right footed player on the left has a major licence to roam in field or surprise the full back by going down the outside. I think we may have to see a few more ineffective performances from Lallana before we see the best of him.

Oh you just can't get it more right than that.

Wouldnt necessarily say that -he just had a dip in form and was dragged down by a poor team. Looked a real prospect in the NPC at least before the team suffered a death by a thousand cuts. Hard to say any one game turned things - if anything, his form picked up quite early on -around the time of Mellis arrival-remember he was fantastic against Gillingham and had a great run after that.

That said, I wouldn't make him out to be untouchable either. I still think he leaves Fox exposed - one reason why Fox can't bomb on as people berate him to. And his decision-making could improve: he could be much quicker/more clinical in his passing.

Rubbish. Anyone who knew an ounce about the game could see that Lallana had something about him. He certainly didn't get everything right and was a long way from the finished article but clearly he had something, of that there was no doubt. This is the first time you came on my radar and I've followed your posts with interest ever since. Sitting with Ron Manager's Book of Footballing Cliches in one hand and Footballing Strategy 101 in the other whilst typing away doesn't do you any favours.

So what your suggesting is that no one should venture an opinion on the forum in case three years down the line they turn out to be wrong:p

Its funny to see the only three original players from the doomed days,Morgan,Kelvin and Adam who have all taken a pasting on here at one time or another stick to their guns and i hope that they get rewarded with a trip to the Premiership its what they deserve for their loyalty

If he is going to be a big player in pardews new setup he has to improve on that display today.

He was too lightweight, too easily knocked off the ball, went down far too easily and wasn't very quick getting back to his feet.

Opposition defenders will look at that display and realize they will have a quiet 90 minutes taking him out of the game.

Also his haircut makes him look like a Romanian orphan:-)

But on a serious note he really needs to up his game otherwise we might as well send 10 men out. Rant over.

ER...don't look now, but he has improved a bit since then .
