Lambert

So he doubled his wages - not a bad move for him then - this must mean that either Saga or Rasiak is off soon ?

The Rasiak "injury" sugests he will go before Saga. I wonder if we will recoup much of the £1m for Lambert?

It doesn't matter who we stick up front if we create as many chances as we did on Saturday....

Two wide players with pace who can cross the ball are a must now ( as well as a centre back, a box to box central midfielder who can run, pass and tackle)

We had 11 shots on goal on saturday, which is more than Millwall had.

And you'll find all box to box midfielders who can run, pass and tackle playing in the Prem.

I'm absolutely delighted with this signing. It's a massive statement of intent from AP and the board. Lambert and Paterson could be a quality front two for this division. He'll be on decent money, but almost certainly less than Saga and Greg individually. Finally we have the target man up front we've been lacking since Kenwynne left. Bit random that he played on Sat if this move was in the works, but thankfully he didn't get injured.

Really fired up for the new season now.

Great idea....

Who's that coming over the hill it's Rickie Lambert! it's Rickie Lambert!

Who's that scoring a goal, it's Rickie Lambert! it's Rickie Lambert!

Think it was originally done for Michael Chopra (which was very amusing)

bet he brakes his leg tomorrow night

I hope that you meant that in the theatrical sense of "Good Luck." :p Not as in Stern J! (ok I know it was his Arm.)

In any case, what a brilliant signing to start the week. Well done NC, AP and all. "Southampton F C;pride of the South!" It's starting to ring true again.

Thank you TAC-TIC for your well informed posts:).

i find it wierd that there is no official photo on the OS as they have clearly been taken. is this the OS being **** again or are they waiting til our mystery midfielder signs??

It will probably have been a press photo-call at Staplewood - so the OS prob will have sent a photographer but Echo can just email it back as soon as it happens.

I would imagine a release went to the paper with details of the photo-call in, say, an hours time after the release is sent.

Yep. I sort of agree.

Now Lambert has to play in the shadow, with very high expectation and the fans getting on his back if he doesnt deliver immediately and every game.

Agreed. With double wages from last job he will have high expectations - needs to be top goalscorer in the League or thereabouts if he gets enough games and keeps fit.
