Tell you what, why dont you ask the admin guys to ban us? That way you could all convince yourselves into thinking you've been Real Madrid in disguise for the last 200 years, with a billion fans around the world, the finest stadium ever built, complete with a trophy room the envy of the entire footballing world, safe in the knowledge that no-one can ever rudely intrude with a merest hint of an alternative view now and again?

Go on, ban us. You know you want to! I might even get me fiver back :D

You've got more chance of getting blood out of a stone than getting your fiver back matey.

;)

In any case, of course you shouldn't be banned (unless you do something to warrent it, as with all of us) and as a full member you should be free to air your views on any post you want (so long as it is not obvious trolling). However, I am neither or mod or admin so it's up to them what they do.

As an aside, being ex-RN I spent many years both working and living in the PO postcode and thus have many friends who are some of the blue FEW! Virtually every single one of them is at the wrist slashing stage and are not only expecting to meet us (Saints) in CCC derby matches next season but they also think we will do the double.

What are your thoughts?

As this is a Lambert thread I'll keep it brief- I just don't know anymore! I'm ex-RNR by the way ;)

I wouldn't be surprised to see him move to Saints, but do Saints have the money? I know Pardew likes him and he'd want a target man however, a target man is something that Rickie Lambert most definitely is NOT. He scores a few around the six yard box sure, but most of his goals for Rovers came from 25 yards or so, plus the odd penalty.

Simeon Jackson is a real target man. Perhaps try to get Jason Puncheon for creativity? I know Pardew knows all about him. Trundle can't get a game at Bristol City, neither can John Akinde.

Or why not get in some loanees?

I live in Bristol and watch Rovers a lot. There's lots of speculation about Lambert, but I'm not sure Southampton is the club for him. It took Rovers well over a season to get him scoring goals, meanwhile travelling media writers were calling a waste of money!

first call for Puncheon?

Wow, someone got Dean Hoyle's email address, this is golden now.

Huddersfield Town chairman says no to Bristol Rovers' Lambert

DEAN HOYLE today scotched rumours of continued Town interest in Rickie Lambert and said both he and manager Lee Clark are delighted with the five signings made so far this close-season.

Despite denials by the Galpharm club and Bristol Rovers, stories of a deal for the £750,000-rated striker, who was a Town transfer target last January, refuse to go away.

However chairman Hoyle, who is cycling 70 miles a week as he prepares for his charity bike ride to the opening League I match at Southend United on Saturday, August 8 (see Page 10), insisted: “A move for Rickie Lambert is a no-no.

“No disrespect to a very good player, but it’s a simple matter of economics. Any deal would cost a minimum of £750,000 plus add-ons for a player who is 27 and who would want a three-year contract.

“Even if he scored 30 goals a season for those three years, by the time the contract is at an end, the player would be 30, and therefore there would be little or no resale value.

“That means that even before meeting wage demands, the signing would cost £5,000 a week, and this club cannot do that kind of business.

“If Rickie Lambert was 22 or 23, it would be a different matter, but he’s not and suggestions that we will sign him are nonsense.”

Lambert, who has a year remaining on his Rovers contract, bagged 29 goals last season to take his total club haul to 58 in three seasons and spark rumours of a move away.

But he is back in training with Bristol and director of football Lennie Lawrence said: “I am bored with this story. We have received no contact and no offers from Huddersfield.

“And we haven’t received anything from anyone else and I haven’t spoken to anyone about him. As far as I am concerned he is with us for the rest of the season.”
