Ricky Lambert and Andy Bishop would be good. Get Tom Carddock in too to provide competition. Simples.

 

I like the sound of that, Bishop was very good against us.

Well Gordon Watson has a big dossier on league 1 and says he is who we need to watch out for and need to bring in!

Good point Tac tics, I know that Flash was working for Leicester as a scout last season and seeing as our own scouting has been described as dire we could do worse than listen to him!

 

Lambert would be an excellent signing for this league but I'm sure he rates himself higher than ourselves at present, the lack of bids for his services seems odd after his what? 34 goals last season! I think I read somewhere that rovers want close to 2million for him so a little bit over priced to my mind.

The asking price for him is between £1m -£1.5m apparently, which isn't ''too expensive'' - esp if it's someone who gets you out of this league!

 

Said from day one we needed to go for him, he took the **** out of us when we played Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago. - as well as scoring the bloody winner.

He is overrated IMO. Better players out there. He would do nothing in a higher league and is not young.

 

they said the same thing about Steve Howard to be fair.

scored a load of goals inn this division in the past couple of years, my mate is a rovers fan and they'd hate to lose him

Apparently a done deal - 800k agreed, will sign in the next couple of days.

I can't believe some people. OK Lambert did a good job yesterday managing a great Colchester performance against Norwich but do we really need a new manager again? Give Pardew a chance FFS!

The Basel I quoted has been spot on with a couple of things R.E. Rovers over the summer. Like I said, I didn't believe it when I heard it yesterday, but if Rovers fans are near certain it will happen then i'm actually quite excited - which fits in with what Cortese promised.

Now the big question from me is who is this guy as ive no idea other than reading from the rovers thread he scored 28 odd goals last season.....

We never managed that with a total squad of 32 players alone last season hahahaaaaa

I wouldn't be surprised to see him move to Saints, but do Saints have the money? I know Pardew likes him and he'd want a target man however, a target man is something that Rickie Lambert most definitely is NOT. He scores a few around the six yard box sure, but most of his goals for Rovers came from 25 yards or so, plus the odd penalty.

 

Simeon Jackson is a real target man. Perhaps try to get Jason Puncheon for creativity? I know Pardew knows all about him. Trundle can't get a game at Bristol City, neither can John Akinde.

 

Or why not get in some loanees?

 

I live in Bristol and watch Rovers a lot. There's lots of speculation about Lambert, but I'm not sure Southampton is the club for him. It took Rovers well over a season to get him scoring goals, meanwhile travelling media writers were calling a waste of money!

Watched that clip and noticed that most of his goals he celebrates with his team mates on the half way line, I thought at first that he keeps running there to celebrate, but after studying it properly i noticed that he likes to score them from that distance.

 

haha bring him in as i reckon we might have a space for him. :-)

Gasheads "in the know" saying it`s true and Rickie Lambert will sign for Saints tomorrow.

Rochdale to get some money from this deal too.

 

at least they have ITK fans too ;)

 

it really does look like it's a done deal though - can't wait for tomorrow.
