Our Position Or Pompey's?

So, accepting your premise that a family of four living in a house together and all saints fans can post on here under four separate aliases, out of Nineteen Canteen, Sundance Beast, Flashman at the Charge, Speculator, something or other bear, etc, which one is the father, which the mother, which the sons? I'm guessing that Nineteen or Speculator for dad or mum, as Flashman and Sundance were both particularly nasty pieces of work and far more juvenile. If on the other hand, these are all multiple personas of one individual, then as the psychiatrist said to his wife on Fawlty Towers, "there's enough material here for an entire conference".

Rupert?? It would be fitting.

A family of four living in a house together all massive Saints fans and all largely of the same opinion and accessing the web through the same access point. Are they allowed their own username or hide behind one collective? Don't make any asumptions Hypo it's just a theoretical question.

For house I'm reading body here.

"Al Fahim takeover seems about to collapse. Latest rumour is David Dean to step in with perhaps eventually The Kazakstan guys who currenly owns a chunk of Arsenal."

No idiotic abuse here Eyes K8 I remember the pain of our summer all too well to gain any satisfaction from your clubs plight. However I think you may be clutching at straws with this one, Dein has been associated with every takeover going and frankly haven't Pompey had enough of dodgy owners. Marcus may well be looking for a quick profiut but I guarantee he'll leave Saints in better shape than he found them, though couldn't have been much worse really.

The answer as it is with all clubs really is to take your medicine cut and slash where necessary. Sell to survive (as a club) and run the club as a going business. Yes that means relegation maybe even 2 but it's the only way the fans will ever feel that they have some control over the club.

I know better ways to blow my bonus than buy a ramshackle club teetering on the edge... there are a lot better 'investment' opportunities out there thats for sure. Lets be honest as well - in the world into which he is stepping, how for is his 100 mil going to go - pay off some debt, fund a few players, and then what...?

Ah, so besides being a Property Magnate, A global TV superstar, Acquirer of Football Clubs, he is also a global expert on Algae.

Soooo, he's obviously going to do for the Skates what he has done for the many investors in his business

and of course, he'll do for the Skates what he has done for the beaches in Brittany and the duck pond here in Dubai

Oh and is it normal to give big bonuses to people removed from their high profile jobs?

And where did all those dodgy loans go that never got paid back?

Yup, to buy Lambos & Porsches which are then left in the car park at the airport for all those poor homeless bankers, me & Eric to come and collect....

And you all thought it was people doing a runner YOUR way..

Lol, I have so much trouble these days do I put the Ferrari or the McLaren in the garage leaving the Bentley out in the road....

(Last bit is actually as real as Sultan Bin Trump's secret cash pile)

:D

(Oh btw I did mean that it is unusual to pay bonuses to ex employees, even here, and as we don't have a pension system he won't get a Sir Frediie)

Well that's pretty fair. There is a potential business opportunity in building the new ground but I think you need to throw £150m at it overall. If he's dependent on his £100m, it's not enough. I hope it all falls through. Meet the skate version of Pinnacle.

One notable difference though IMO - you don't have your greatest player (whoever that may be) endorsing the bid and perhaps clouding your judgement.

Whatever happens I hope Portsmouth survive their current problems as it wouldn't be the same without you. Hopefully, here's to many happy derby games in the CCC over the coming seasons, if not next, courtesy of some unhelpful delays.

Quite. Personally I hope that you recover from you problems - I really do. But the biggest problem that I think you will have is servicing your current running costs.

Even with all of the debt wiped away and everything zeroed - I can't see you getting enough through the turnstiles to run as a going concern. Ergo - you need to downsize on your wagebill. Whether you can do that and still remain competitive in the Premier League remains to be seen - but 100 million pounds is not enough to bank roll a club for any considerable amount of time.

Will be interesting to see what happens post (and let's face it, he looks history) the Doctor, but failing attracting a 'sugar daddy', you then need to attract a fairly rich investor(s), and to do that you need to be an 'attractive investment proposition', which unfortunately - I don't believe you are right now. That said - good luck.

after two league games you have made your mind up..whilst we are clearly going to be bringing in more players and have a very good manager

LOL

No,not made my mind up,i cannot see into the future like yourself.

It's football,anything can happen.

We are not nailed onto stay up,if we were i'd be down the bookies now.

They will be taken over and survive. We will scrape survival in this league by a whisker. And we'll still be three leagues below them.

Usually I find myself in agreement with your opinions. Not this time. We'll be mid table at least, whereas the Skates will go down unless they get a new owner who spends some money on replacing some of the quality they have shipped out. On Match of the Day, both Hansen and Shearer thought that Pompey were the favourites to go down. So in that eventuality, we will be one division apart.

Against middling opposition at home Pompey got off to the expected poor start yesterday . Extract from the Sunday Times :

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/portsmouth/article6797574.ece

Clint Dempsey’s 30-yard shot had more power than threat until Bobby Zamora turned his broad backside to it , sending the ball wide of David James’ left hand .... there was no doubt the striker would have the sizable cheek to claim it .

The above as well as being very funny :D this goal proves yet again beyond any doubt that the Gods of football never grant teams that desperately need luck any of that most elusive of favours . MOTD may well prove to be unusually amusing this season .

Hmmm, early days. Just remember it's the hope that kills you. Think how low you're all going to feel when we stay up, maybe on the last day, but stay up, and you fail to even make the third division playoffs ;)

Early days indeed , the only glimmer of hope I see for your club is that the likes of Alan Hanson and Mark Lawrenson are convinced you're going down - they're more often wrong than right .

No offence intended but if you're looking for sympathy I suspect this might not be the best place to look .

As players and staff queried the security of their employment at P*mpey, it was an uncomfortable irony that Jobsite.co.uk were their new shirt sponsors when Canterbury, who make the kit, went into administration last month.........

.... whoops

Or think how much we're going to p1ss ourselves when you go into Admin next month and we make the playoffs from -10.

as the psychiatrist said to his wife on Fawlty Towers, "there's enough material here for an entire conference".

LMFAO.

You're going to have to help me out Wes as the latest revelations up here have me all confused!!!!

Firstly Nineteen says he only joined the forum this year and was never Sundance/Flashman etc etc etc and the Mods on here say that they have no knowledge of 19C being a reincarnation of a banned poster.

Then straight after that Ponty announces that 19C was previously Sundance and that he was allowed back under an amnesty (so the Mods did know he was a previously banned poster after all;) but told us otherwise, ummmmmmmmmm).

However, despite this announcement by Ponty, 19C still continues to claim he wasn't Sundance et al!!!

Now he has admitted to being the previously banned posters.

But now there are other members in the same household logging on????

And he still has other user names????

There is indeed enough material for an entire conference LOL. Anyone got the number of a good shrink:rolleyes::rolleyes:

As for the OP, being honest I'd take Pompey's position over ours as the Premiership is where the money is and money does indeed make the football world go round!!!!

If they're facing relegation come next Spring, then that's a different matter entirely!!!!!!

Welcome back from your hols, Um. I'm sure that you will have had a great time in the Far East. I see that you have begun to bring yourself up to speed with the postings of the site's Clown Prince, no doubt in an attempt to bring some levity and a light-hearted mood to counter the feeling of anti-climax that comes with returning here after a holiday in a tropical paradise.

I see that you picked up on the possibility hinted at by Nineteen that there might actually be other members of the clan who have logged on here and vented their spleens at other posters in the inimitable style of Nineteen, Sundance, Flashman and other aliases. I am led to believe that one of these offspring might be Speculator and I have my suspicions that Wiltshire Saint might belong to the same gene pool too.

Is this a good thing? One has to balance the pure entertainment value against the downside that several good threads have been hijacked and reduced to petty bickering.

According to the Mail, James is off to Spurs, Distin is wanted by Villa and your boss Hart has likened Pompey to Fawlty Towers....

You couldn't make it up...
