miserableoldgit Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 So, accepting your premise that a family of four living in a house together and all saints fans can post on here under four separate aliases, out of Nineteen Canteen, Sundance Beast, Flashman at the Charge, Speculator, something or other bear, etc, which one is the father, which the mother, which the sons? I'm guessing that Nineteen or Speculator for dad or mum, as Flashman and Sundance were both particularly nasty pieces of work and far more juvenile. If on the other hand, these are all multiple personas of one individual, then as the psychiatrist said to his wife on Fawlty Towers, "there's enough material here for an entire conference". Rupert?? It would be fitting.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 Rupert?? It would be fitting. I don't know about that but allegedly Goldilocks may be innocent as no one considered the obvious possibility of a fourth bear. Hence the importance of questions and challenges to sometimes popularly held points of view / misconceptions.
The Rover Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 A family of four living in a house together all massive Saints fans and all largely of the same opinion and accessing the web through the same access point. Justin C Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 The new rumour is David Dein is ready to step in for pompey with some guy who used to have something to do with Arsenal. Lets hope any rescue for them is 1st Sept!
macca155 Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 "Al Fahim takeover seems about to collapse. Latest rumour is David Dean to step in with perhaps eventually The Kazakstan guys who currenly owns a chunk of Arsenal." No idiotic abuse here Eyes K8 I remember the pain of our summer all too well to gain any satisfaction from your clubs plight. However I think you may be clutching at straws with this one, Dein has been associated with every takeover going and frankly haven't Pompey had enough of dodgy owners. Marcus may well be looking for a quick profiut but I guarantee he'll leave Saints in better shape than he found them, though couldn't have been much worse really. The answer as it is with all clubs really is to take your medicine cut and slash where necessary. Sell to survive (as a club) and run the club as a going business. Yes that means relegation maybe even 2 but it's the only way the fans will ever feel that they have some control over the club. Macca

Meet the skate version of Pinnacle. One notable difference though IMO - you don't have your greatest player (whoever that may be) endorsing the bid and perhaps clouding your judgement. Whatever happens I hope Portsmouth survive their current problems as it wouldn't be the same without you. Hopefully, here's to many happy derby games in the CCC over the coming seasons, if not next, courtesy of some unhelpful delays.

Meet the skate version of Pinnacle. Quite. Personally I hope that you recover from you problems - I really do. But the biggest problem that I think you will have is servicing your current running costs. Even with all of the debt wiped away and everything zeroed - I can't see you getting enough through the turnstiles to run as a going concern. Ergo - you need to downsize on your wagebill. Whether you can do that and still remain competitive in the Premier League remains to be seen - but 100 million pounds is not enough to bank roll a club for any considerable amount of time. Will be interesting to see what happens post (and let's face it, he looks history) the Doctor, but failing attracting a 'sugar daddy', you then need to attract a fairly rich investor(s), and to do that you need to be an 'attractive investment proposition', which unfortunately - I don't believe you are right now. That said - good luck.

Usually I find myself in agreement with your opinions. Not this time. We'll be mid table at least, whereas the Skates will go down unless they get a new owner who spends some money on replacing some of the quality they have shipped out. On Match of the Day, both Hansen and Shearer thought that Pompey were the favourites to go down. So in that eventuality, we will be one division apart. CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 16 August, 2009 Share Posted 16 August, 2009 Against middling opposition at home Pompey got off to the expected poor start yesterday . Extract from the Sunday Times : http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/portsmouth/article6797574.ece Clint Dempsey’s 30-yard shot had more power than threat until Bobby Zamora turned his broad backside to it , sending the ball wide of David James’ left hand .... there was no doubt the striker would have the sizable cheek to claim it . The above as well as being very funny this goal proves yet again beyond any doubt that the Gods of football never grant teams that desperately need luck any of that most elusive of favours . MOTD may well prove to be unusually amusing this season .

Firstly Nineteen says he only joined the forum this year and was never Sundance/Flashman etc etc etc and the Mods on here say that they have no knowledge of 19C being a reincarnation of a banned poster. Then straight after that Ponty announces that 19C was previously Sundance and that he was allowed back under an amnesty (so the Mods did know he was a previously banned poster after all;) but told us otherwise, ummmmmmmmmm). However, despite this announcement by Ponty, 19C still continues to claim he wasn't Sundance et al!!! Now he has admitted to being the previously banned posters. But now there are other members in the same household logging on???? And he still has other user names???? There is indeed enough material for an entire conference LOL. Anyone got the number of a good shrink:rolleyes: As for the OP, being honest I'd take Pompey's position over ours as the Premiership is where the money is and money does indeed make the football world go round!!!! If they're facing relegation come next Spring, then that's a different matter entirely!!!!!!
