Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 Have to admit its grown on me a bit, but I'll not be buying one. Its miles better than the grey monstrosity. Problem initially with the blue - too close for comfort for me, but someone above mentioned it being too dark! Any lighter blue and it REALLY woudl be getting too much like our smelly neighbours. The9 Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 The last years of the (S) regime were a joke, absolutely disgusting shirts made by appalling kit designers. Ouchie. I happen to disagree, though the short-arms on the Uhlsport style white/grey and all yellow shirts did annoy me. The Umbro quality is better, but that's hardly the designer's fault ! I also think the flint kit is pretty lame, and the techno-wasp "thing" on the back of it is utterly awful and pointless. This season's Umbro kits are pretty much all throwbacks to the early (West Brom, Sunderland) and late (West Ham) 1980s, other than us becoming Wimbledon and the nice ornate badge imprint, there's not a great deal to get excited about with this Umbro kit. The exact copy of the current Sweden shirt would have been a mile better. Bought the navy thing yesterday, it's alright. Shorts seem to be made of cheese grater material though. The9 Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 I mean the one Wotten is wearing in the photo a few posts above, the long sleave shirt. I did not see a shirt looking like that in the store. And James' one looks way too light as you can see the stripes clearly running down it where as on the one i have it is much darker and have to be up very close to see the stripes. If you look at the pics on the Saints photos vs Ajax you can see what i mean http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1726966,00.html Very dark. The kit is exactly as it looks in the original OS pics, very dark with some pairs of shadow stripes in the navy part. Strangest part for me is why they chose to have a yellow flash on the side of the yellow shorts, not a contrasting colour like all of the other teams' Umbro shorts in this style this season. The navy piece is on the back and frankly silly. I like the pin-hoops on the socks a lot though, reminds me of the navy/black Man U away shirt from 1999 with Sharp Viewcam on the front and thin grey hoops. graymalkin33 Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 Looks like a poor man's Wimbledon kit from the late eighties. stinhk Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 Reckon it's designed that way to give our guys a broader upper body look! Boggin' awful as far as I'm concerned.
