Double LOL, not worth getting infracted about though ! I posted something like that initially and then on reflection downgraded it to general "poke-the-idiot-with-a-stick" type stuff.

yeah but Scott this what a forum is all about, people of differing opinions debating the finer point of both sides of the argument

*why dont my winky thing work?

You've entirely missed the point Phil - this is not about a work permit - it's because he wants more money...! ;)

....and in your own works: Whoosh - didn't see that one coming... did ya..?

I don't agree it's about money

WHY did the Work Permit issue NOT come to light, until well into the negotiations ???? ..... is that not one of the FIRST questions you ask if you want to sign a FOREIGN Player ??? .... or is that too simple ???

The whole scenario is a load of Cobblers .........

Didn't we have a promising youngster at one point ?? Peryplotikin ?? Supposed to be the next shevchenko ?? What happened to him ??

I know we couldn't get a permit

Believe it or not...he was on loan at Derby last season from a latvian club. Didn't do anything at all for them - and he wasn't retained.

We had him on a Student visa and when that expired he went back to Ukraine. Ironically he is now a Latvian citizen, which if he had have been then, we would have been able to keep him under EU rules.

Someone made a good point though, i know it's not as easy as this but.

He has been here for 5 years, why can't he get citenzenship ?? Or he could just marry someone, any one up for taking one for the team ??

Maybe he doesn't want to become a UK citizen? Believe it or not, some people on the planet don't want British citizenship.

not to stir anymore, but i just think that a man with a trade, money, and guaranteed job wouldnt be the worst addition to british soil. Especially if he is considered better value all round than a british citizen. Hardly a xenophobic view, especially as i live abroad myself, and have experience in dealing with labour markets at home and abroad. I just dont agree with some the regulations the current immigration service use

'Tis unfortunately a view of the masses my friend, rightly or wrongly. :(

"My mate down the pub says immigrants are freeloaders."

"Oh yeah, what does your mate do ?"

"He's got a bad wrist so he's been signed off for 4 years."

"O RLY ?"

Not sure it's so much the majority view as the "majority of people who like their baseless opinions to be heard in the pub", though.

Problem is, there is ignorance both sides of the fence, the best way is to have a view of both sides, it helps when debating.

I have views, against both arguements, but i am not digging up the old threads again ;), lets keep it football guv

But an awful lot of them want free NHS & Social Security ;)

Meanwhile, for arguments sake, I notice a couple of points

1) The OS hasn't made any mention that we are looking to sign Jaidi

2) The OS hasn't made any comments about the fact that he has applied for a work permit.

Think this thread is just Post Traumatic lack of takeover thread Syndrome

Just a thought and sorry but I don't have the time to look through all the posts but why has there been nothing on the OS about him and the work permit or even that he was even offered a contract etc. It may well be that they plan to appeal an then place a report. Just seems odd to me.

My original comment was tongue in cheek I can assure you. But your point about why was the question of a work permit was not addressed at the initial stages of negotiations is a very good one. Who knows, perhaps it was and it was percieved that there wouldn't be a problem. If, on the other hand, this problem has only just come to light - you would have to question the negotiation & agreement process.

Not xenopohobic, no, but "more use than all the freeloading immigrants" and "he'd be a useful addition to British soil" are not exactly the same viewpoint, and I had to go back and see that the post above was from the same person who made the initial one, to be honest.

MM................I'm really struggling to see where you claim to be a fan. FFS, you are continually moaning, just be grateful that you have a team to support. Look around you pal......clubs are in trouble all over the place, and you keep coming on here, and having your little grizzle. Wake up, smell the roses, greet the new dawn at St Mary's with a smile.

Ginge - Everyone has got their right to whinge or moan just as everyone has got the right to see everything with rose-coloured glasses.

I think sometimes the moaners moan more when the rose glasses brigade get too happy clappy and vice versa. It's called human nature. I am a bit of a moaner (you'd never have guessed) but when I am with my Dad I turn into a big happy clappy because he is the moaner from hell. That's football supporters I guess and that's Saints. Being positive doesn't make you more of a fan if just that you and MM have different ways of approaching it.

F*ck off you xenophobic tw*t.

Nice typical display of Liberal tolerance for free speech.....No surprise there then.

I find this thread amusing in a way......The English game is now over run with foreigners and dying on its feet, with little room for English players to develop in their own leagues. Yet here is a load of peeps crucifying the FL for having at least having 'some' rules in place to give English players a little protection in the lower leagues.

Jeez your Dad wasn't THAT bloke who used to sit on the Bench seats under the west stand was he.?....

Now THAT was a moaner

But nothing like the ex wife...

I think that Ginge is saying that considering the hell we have been through over the last few years, it would be nice if people gave the new regime a chance and some slack and if they could look at things with a more positive viewpoint. Call it rose tinted if you must but to me it's just healthier and would make a nice change.

I'm generally of the view that most issues aren't as black and white as the pigeon-holers want them to be. Especially on the Lowe Luvvie, happy clappy, rose-tinted blah blah front. It's just lazy stereotyping in the main...

...all thicky stuff, like from those racists.

Oops.

Everytime somebody says something you don't like or has a different opinion you play the 'just be thankful that you have a club to support' card.......this is the extent of you argument and it is wearing a bit thin.

How long are we supposed to be grateful? There were many fans who 'went Wilde for mike' (not me),he was the new saviour to some and they rolled out the same tripe as you are,and what happened?....nothing apart from more fook ups and disaster.

I am glad I have a club to support, but let's not kid ourselves,ML is not doing it for nothing, there is always a price to pay........I don't know what that is yet but in time we will all know.

I am right behind the new regime but I will continue to question the lack of activity in the transfer Market that is leaving us dangerously short of quality to compete.I don't want to see another season of struggle and heartache but if pardew is struggling to attract any players then that's what it will be.

Closing your eyes and shouting 'be grateful' will just hold us back.

Publicising that we're glad to have a club and should appreciate it for a bit isn't going to affect things one way or another. I think Markus Liebherr, as a shrewd businessman will want to see what we've got before any remedial work takes place.

I bet you any money you like he did come over here at one point at least. I rule on pedantry...

In that article it said that he hadn't bothered to apply for a work permit as he didnt believe it would pass not that it had been refused. If he does apply for one then he might still be accepted.

This is a point everyone else has missed and also makes me wonder about how keen the player is to come here anyway.

WTF!!!! this just doesn't make sense. if he didnt think he would get a work permit then he wouldn't have bothered with the medical, contract negotiations and all. There is no harm in at least applying for the permit. simply doesn't make sense and thus i don't believe the article has an ounce of truth if im totally honest. may just be optimistic thinking - and there may well be a delay in the signing due to the WP so we'll make do with perry and lancashire on saturday at least.

Jaidi is a professional footballer .... I cannot believe that he, and his agent, did not bother to check out the work permit situation .....

Thick as some footballers are .... SURELY he must have realised that if he had no permit, then he would be "out of work"

Absolutely STUPID

It could be that when they got all of the documentary evidence together, it was apparent that all of the criteria would not be met to get a work permit and instead of applying and awaiting to be turned down, they are looking into going straight to the 'Panel' stage? This would presumably be quicker in the long run.

i thought schneiderlin was supposed to be able to play center half ?

According to JP he could play there. - but in reality he can't. To play CB you need to be able to put in a challenge and head the ball, and no disrespect to Morgan....but he's not very good at that side of the game!

Odd how he couldn't get a work permit. Would it not be worth appealing?

Bugger!

How the hell can someone who has been playing in England for the last 5 (?) years get refussed a f****** work permit! Thats b*******!

S*** rules, majorly p***** off on that one!

The wording on the OS says he hadn't applied for one has he didn't believe he'd get one. How on earth would he know until he asked and, simple thought, how has he been able to play for these last few seasons? Surely he's had one?

I think it's a ruse and he'll sign for a better contract elsewhere within days!

Longer than 3 weeks........I'm saying, that within a 5 year plan, coming on here whining every 2 minutes, 3 weeks in, sucks in my opinion. I saying, give the new boys a chance.

There were many fans who 'went Wilde for mike' (not me),he was the new saviour to some and they rolled out the same tripe as you are,and what happened?....nothing apart from more fook ups and disaster.

I have no beef with you over this.........but it is wearing a bit thin, when every post has the same names, moaning that things arn't happening as fast as they would like. They will happen, at a speed that is complient with what the board/manager wants........so give them a chance.

This seems like a load of cack to me. Jaidi didn't think he needed a Work Permit because he doesn't!

He has been here over 5 years and can apply for settlement.

At the moment, you must have been in the United Kingdom for a continuous time of five years in an eligible immigration category before you can apply for settlement.
