mightysaints Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 I have just got hold of an Arcam 8R amp and a freind has given me his old NAD 2100 power amp. Can i hook these 2 up If not does anyone know the value of the Nad as i might sell it to get hold of a DAC unit.
Al de Man Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 It appears the Arcam is an integrated amp rather than a pre-amp so you couldn't hook the two up. No idea how much it's worth.

St Landrew Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 The arcam has a pre out on the back so i am assumming it can be done, just wondering what sort of an improvement i would get Why don't you do it and find out..? I suspect you'll not find much improvement, rather a difference in tonal characteristics. A&R Cambridge amps were/are always pretty good, for those on a budget. And NAD amps are pretty good for those on an even tighter one. If memory serves, I think that NAD 3020 you were selling the other day can be used as a pre-amp only too.
