NickG Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 several prem league players are available at knock down prices. is it worth few for our squad? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2569736/Sob-Storrie-as-Pompey-in-crisis.html?OTC-RSS&ATTR=Football
thorpie the sinner Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Talking about pompey, I see kalinic one of their main targets signed for Blackburn. Trouble ahead

The wages wouldn't cover their speeding fines !. ...and with THAT section of our fan base alive to the thought, ANY former Pompey player would be on a hiding to nothing from the start. - (even if they didn't know they would move to SMS later in their career.)
dubai_phil Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Don't think ex PL players would fit into L1 unless they are the few with wise old heads on their shoulders (CMFG/Sheringham/Merson types) We didn't have a great deal of luck with "PL Quality" players in the CCC TBH I'd much rather have really good L1 players who can act as leaders on the pitch to bring the youngsters on
labibs Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Rumours are that Lescott has put in a transfer request at Everton, why don't we go for him? The likes of Joe Cole may want a move to ensure they get first team football in preparation for the world cup, let's give him a call. We are not going to be signing players from the premiership unless they are: a) very old (34+), or b) very young (under 20). Even the young players will have been released by prem clubs (not good enough) or only on loan.

dubai_phil Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Or perhaps one was commenting that their playing staff don't have enough brains to actually DAJFU
ozzmeister Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Read in Times that they are taking that French left back who we had with us a few seasons ago on trial - Vignal was it?
