StuRomseySaint Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 1) Only 2 home midweek games. 2) No international break. 3) No breaks for FA Cup weekends when we have already been knocked out, unless the team we are playing are still in. Feel free to add yours, the less midweek games the better, didn't we have 7 last year?
Griffo Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 4) New grounds 5) Terracing 6) A lot of local away games
RedAndWhite91 Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 7 ) We are in it. 8 ) New pubs. Mind you, I like midweek games, I like the evening aspect of it, for some reason.
Neil Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Cheaper New grounds to visit - terracing New towns/cities to drink in (and some good old ones) Carlisle trip Hartlepool on a freezing wet Tuesday in late-November 'Proper' fans visiting St Mary's (ok maybe a few day-trippers as well)
Matthew Le God Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 2) No international break. It is quite likely we will have international breaks.
saint_stevo Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Playing against the team Jeff Stelling supports?
Griffo Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Why is that a good thing? Because that means everyone stands and therefore we can create a better atmosphere.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Because that means everyone stands and therefore we can create a better atmosphere. Too right! Sitting down at football is neither pleasant nor fun.
Tac-tics Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 It is a bit nice to experiance a few new ****ty grounds. Terracing is something that will give me a blast from the past Hartlepool on a freezing wet Tuesday in late-November More chance of Southampton bloody winning something!!! (I say with optimism)
Hatch Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Women linespersons ( i don't actually know if this is correct or not)
RedAndWhite91 Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 it is when your knee is gammy as **** *Unless your knee is gammy as ****.
hamster Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 1/ Bye's in the JPT 2/ Quicker escape home due to no blimmin wimmin shoppers. 3/ Steaming flasks of tomato soup (the only real soup ever - FACT) 4/ Something to look forward to when you are having a **** day at work (this should be number 1 probably) 5/ Something to talk about the next day when you are having a **** day at work (this should be number 2 maybe) 6/ The bed's nice and warm when you get in it.
offix Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 The best thing about League 1: Getting promoted out of it!
saints_is_the_south Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 A lot of the games are quite close. 4 in London, 1 in Bristol, Swindon, Yeovil...etc
Flyer Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 There arent any, trust me. 3 years watching my team in it was more than enough. Virtually every team plays hoofball, the football is dire. Saints will be one of the big names, every team will raise their game and also come to defend at SMS. Even the novelty of new grounds will wear off.
dellboypete Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 5) Terracing Why is that a good thing? Because that means everyone stands and therefore we can create a better atmosphere. Too right! Sitting down at football is neither pleasant nor fun. especially at Hartlepool on a freezing wet Tuesday in late-November
VectisSaint Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Good things about League 1: Its not League 2 End of...
fish fingers Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Why is that a good thing? because sitting down is ghey
dellboypete Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Why is that a good thing? The away end at Hartlepool is all seated.. It's got to be one of the coldest grounds I've been to - and that include aberdeen on a snowy January night
saint_bert Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Being able to say to the nipper in 15 years time when were ace, that I was there at Hartlepool....,,,, losing 1-0
Badger Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Don't forget : Southampton FC is now a 'Rupert-free Zone'.
sadoldgit Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 At the end of the day it is the Third Division, and that sucks marginally less than the Fourth Division!
sadoldgit Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Don't forget : Southampton FC is now a 'Rupert-free Zone'. Don't get me going on this one....I remember only too well a number of well respected fans saying that they would rather us be relegated than have Rupert at the helm any longer. Frankly I would rather have anybody at the helm but still be in the Premiership, but each to his own.
dellgirl Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 I'm just thrilled that I have a team to watch and dreams of promotion in the years to come...Come on you Reds.
chrisobee Posted 4 August, 2009 Posted 4 August, 2009 Don't forget : Southampton FC is now a 'Rupert-free Zone'. As should this forum be !
sidthesquid Posted 5 August, 2009 Posted 5 August, 2009 The chance for two promotion parties, not just one, before we are reinstated in the promised land
ottery st mary Posted 5 August, 2009 Posted 5 August, 2009 A lot of the games are quite close. 4 in London, 1 in Bristol, Swindon, Yeovil...etc Not forgetting SUNNY old Exeter......It has rained for 40 days and 40 nights:mad:
SW11_Saint Posted 5 August, 2009 Posted 5 August, 2009 You get an extra 30 mins lie-in on a Sunday, before getting up to watch our 5 second 'highlights' on The Championship...
chrisobee Posted 5 August, 2009 Posted 5 August, 2009 You get an extra 30 mins lie-in on a Sunday, before getting up to watch our 5 second 'highlights' on The Championship... I think the highlights are on BBC on Saturday night now so no need to get up at all on a Sunday !!
