Chez Posted 10 August, 2009 Posted 10 August, 2009 It would probably work as well. Wasn't he on 72.8% or something? Edit: Although the theory breaks down a bit when you see he's not in the squad...... http://www.cafonline.com/competition/african-cup-of-nations-angola_2010/news/3160-tunisia-squad-for-ivory-coast-friendly.html yes it would have made 75%, do friendlies count anyway?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 August, 2009 Posted 10 August, 2009 Get this deal done too and we will be laughing
Andy_Porter Posted 10 August, 2009 Posted 10 August, 2009 If we could somehow get this deal sorted it would be awesome alongside the signing of Lambert, add those 2 Stockport guys, Tom Craddock & the Kilmanock midfielder to that & we will be looking very good! Which Kilmarnock midfielder? think i've missed that thread. Please say he's a winger...
saints_is_the_south Posted 10 August, 2009 Posted 10 August, 2009 Which Kilmarnock midfielder? think i've missed that thread. thorpie the sinner Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Is this definitely dead now? hope not, he could do a fantastic job for us!
Alright Dave Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 (edited) Is this definitely dead now? Tac-Tics stated yesterday on the Lambert thread that Jaidi was again with Saints yesterday, so they are clearly still hopeful of doing a deal. He also mentioned we have had a bid accepted for a Midfielder which is rumoured to be Craig Bryson of Kilmarnock. Look out for Tic-Tacs updates today he seems to be very ITK when it comes to player dealings down a staplewood. Edited 11 August, 2009 by Alright Dave

Alright Dave Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Just checked Tac-Tics activity and he was last on at 6ish this morning, but did not post. I am sure he will be on later with some news.
Smirking_Saint Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 (edited) Any news on whether Jaidi is in the Tunisia squad for the friendly ?? Ok, just looked it up and he has NOT been called up for the match tommorow against ivory coast, so the speculation on whether he would reach his 75% tommorow has been put to rest, which is a shame, hopefully there are other ways round it. Gigersaint Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 The Sun still says today that Jaidi is set to join Southampton. Last sentence on transfer page, have to hunt for this type of news these days http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2569648/More-of-todays-stories.html

hypochondriac Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I think it is rather pathetic that we are all (I include myself here) sweating on a soon to be 34 year old signing on a free transfer. Dont get me wrong I am very grateful that I still have a club to support but we have hardly exploded out of the traps. Lot of sense in proceeding cautiously and all that but it would have been nice if Mr Liebherr could have least given us (and the club) one shot up the arse, or something to get a little excited about. So far we have the arrival of Andy Oldknow (who comes with baggage - even he will have to admit), a Chairman called Nicola who surely can't know his way around professional football with a background in Swiss banking/corporate sports and the unpalatable fact that David Jones is still a director. I know I should bow and scrape and be eternally grateful because my club has been saved but was just wondering how much longer we are expected to be so subserviant? Flame away I am sure. Well doesnt your comment look foolish now. I hope you are suitably repentant. I really hope he signs, will be exactly what we need and will mean we have almost sorted out the back. One more striker and a midfielder or two and we are good to go!
Alright Dave Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Is it possible to follow Tic Tac Toe on Twitter? i don't know you will have to ask him I am not his personal secretary!

niceandfriendly Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 In todays Echo Pardew said (about the Jaidi deal) "I think that situation is probably against us, but I haven't completely dismissed it. I look at this side and I've made it clear a centre half is part of that brief and we will get one in. Whether it's the big fella I'm not sure." So it's not 100% dead but unlikely, but I guess we all knew that anyway.
Give it to Ron Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I did the Man Utd tour the other day whilst up here and saw some Prem managers arrive for a meeting, Moyes, Pulis, Big Sam, Fergie and McLeish who I spoke to about Jaidi. He said AP had called him and that he thought he was definately joining us and that he would still like him. He did say that his legs were not up to a high dividion but he would do a great job for us.

Also in the echo Pard's confirms the deal is not dead. I reckon he could still sign + another CB.

Matthew Le God Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Makes you sick doesn't it. Why? He meets the rules. Jaidi doesn't and is at the end of his career.
Colinjb Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Why? He meets the rules. Jaidi doesn't and is at the end of his career. Untired player in the english leagues who is not proven at uinternational level passes. Experienced proven centre back who has played in the english leagues for years and has at the very least a few more years of play ahead with more international caps then their nipper can yet dream of is denied. F*ck the rules, it just doesn't make sense.
Window Cleaner Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 EU player. since when has Serbia been in the EU? Might be a dual national I suppose.

Armitage Shanks Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Serbia is not in the EU because they are a bunch of murdering loons who won't cooperate with the International Crminal courts. Just my opinion of course.
SaintRichmond Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Serbia is not in the EU because they are a bunch of murdering loons who won't cooperate with the International Crminal courts. Just my opinion of course. That's why they have to resort to smuggling themselves into this country ..... and then disappear beneath our wonderful welcoming viel of UK Beaurocracy
skintsaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 joint slovakian nationality apparently fail, ignore my ramblings and anger then
Mouldy Coat Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 if we sign Jahidi i think we would have an outside chance of playoffs if he stayed fit all season

westofshannonsaint Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 just said on SSN that work permit appeals needed to be submitted by yesterday afternoon. is this the same in the lower leagues?
Bad Wolf Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 just said on SSN that work permit appeals needed to be submitted by yesterday afternoon. is this the same in the lower leagues? Think it's only for players with clubs. Jiedi is a free agent so normal transfer deadlines don't apply to him
Scummer Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 just said on SSN that work permit appeals needed to be submitted by yesterday afternoon. is this the same in the lower leagues? He's out of contract isn't he, so we could sign him whenever we want. The SSN bit about appeals would only be for clubs trying to sign people before the dealine.
S-Clarke Posted 1 September, 2009 Posted 1 September, 2009 just said on SSN that work permit appeals needed to be submitted by yesterday afternoon. is this the same in the lower leagues? afaik the work permit request has been submitted
