saint_bert Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 If you could sign one player from L1 who would it be? For me I'd love the nipper from Charlton Jonjo Shelvey This isn't a "he would never come" thread it's just who you would like to see sign if it was a dead cert to happen
Ludwig Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Shelvey rejected Chelsea yesterday. (It would probably be Shelvey for me, also, perhaps Delph)
Dan Johnson Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Has to be jermaine beckford for me, 54 goals in 82 starts... says it all for me really. not that keen on his attitude, but I think he'd be a "love it when he's playing for you, hate him when he's playing for someone else" kind of player
IamLeGod Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 (edited) For me Delph, not only one of the best in the division, but one of the best outside the Premiership, think i heard Hughes is interested at City, Shocker... Edited 3 August, 2009 by IamLeGod ooops
saint_bert Posted 3 August, 2009 Author Posted 3 August, 2009 Also i'd love the Millwall CB Zak Whitbread
Pat from Poole Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 If you could sign one player from L1 who would it be? For me I'd love the nipper from Charlton Jonjo Shelvey This isn't a "he would never come" thread it's just who you would like to see sign if it was a dead cert to happen Jermaine Easter will score loads for MK Dons.
saint_bert Posted 3 August, 2009 Author Posted 3 August, 2009 Jermaine Easter will score loads for MK Dons. Completely agree
skintsaint Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Snodgrass impressed me last season. x2 Shelvey will get booted across this division this season, expect him to do nowt.
Give it to Ron Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 I rated Andy Bishop from Bury when we played against them the other year. Has a good record of goals in this division but has had knee problems and out with hernia op ....seems ideal to keep Pulis and Thomas company!
Yate Saint Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 A good centre back would be Danny Coles (Bristol Rovers). If he can stay fit he would be a good signing.
forever a red and white Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 obvious suggestion could be ricky lambert
saintrich Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Joel Porter...Hartlepool Pretty sure he's left them.
ottery st mary Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Pretty sure he's left them. Good spot ..He has gone back to Australia.....Gold Coast.. My choice would now be Liam Sercombe at Exeter.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Jermaine Beckford, proven goal scorer at this level.
The9 Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Adam Lallana, tricky, talented England U-21 international, great first touch, bit of pace, excellent at turning in tight spaces, scored a cracking goal against West Brom the other year in the Championship... tons of potential, etc. Oooh, wait a minute...
saint_bert Posted 3 August, 2009 Author Posted 3 August, 2009 Adam Lallana, tricky, talented England U-21 international, great first touch, bit of pace, excellent at turning in tight spaces, scored a cracking goal against West Brom the other year in the Championship... tons of potential, etc. Oooh, wait a minute... I get the irony. However I suspect that there are fans of teams in this league that are writing pretty similar words about Lallana. If Pardew can get him motivated and he doesn't let speculation turn his head if he performs, IMO he is up there with the best this league has to offer
SNSUN Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 I think we have one or two of the best 50 players in League One this season, but if i could bring one in it'd be a goal machine. Beckford.
labibs Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Adam Lallana, tricky, talented England U-21 international, great first touch, bit of pace, excellent at turning in tight spaces, scored a cracking goal against West Brom the other year in the Championship... tons of potential, etc. Oooh, wait a minute... Great point about Lallana. Apart from Delph and Shelvey, you don't see many league 1 players being linked with moves to the premier league. I would imagine any other club in league 1 would love to have Lallana on their books. As for someone I'd want here, I have to admit to not knowing a great deal about League 1 football, but either a hot shot striker, or a hard as nails centreback. We haven't had a rock at the back since Killer did his knee and I think it's shown.
FMPR Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Think you already have him in your team. Kelvin Davis
Saint Samuel Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Kelvin's surely gotta be the best 'keeper in the league, outfield I would say Delph, Beckford or Lambert.
Give it to Ron Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 McLaggon Where does he play and who for in League One? The OP asked for who would you sign!
Winchester_Saint Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Think you already have him in your team. Kelvin Davis Ha ha what a shame that it took a Pompey fan to mention KD and that none of us listed his name before! If he performs as he did last season then he is up there with the best for sure
Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Beckford would be useful - would he be any better than Rasiak? Not so sure. Better than Saga - YES.
MorningtonCrescent Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Anthony Pulis ! (I'll get me coat) ! Yes, indeedly a coat is required! As for using your 999th post on that... well..... See you in the Eagle pre-match this weekend? Early KO though, not sure what time they open?
Chez Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Bailey at Charlton impressed me greatly in both games last season. Shelvey is a talent as well. What we need most though is pacey talent up top and Backford is the proven talent there.
S-Clarke Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Bailey at Charlton impressed me greatly in both games last season. Shelvey is a talent as well. What we need most though is pacey talent up top and Backford is the proven talent there. Bailey is an excellent player, kind of similar to Gillett though in many aspects. I'd say one to look out for is Jordan Rhodes at Huddersfield...
