Dog Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Just been to see my new puppy gundog, it's a caramel labrador with excellent pedigree. I am sending it away to be fully trained at a cost of £5000 and I will not get him back for 12 months when he will be a top gundog. The only problem I have is I need a name before he goes off to camp. So far we have the following names. Worzel Buddy Bertie Migs Twix Any suggestions please?

Two things:- First - what is a "caramel" lab? Yellow? Chocolate? Black? Secondly - why are you sending it away and spending loads of money to train it up? There are plenty of weekly gundog training sessions where you can bond with him and work with him at the same time. Oh.. and Bomber!

Robsk II Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 If you haven`t got the time now, what are you going to do with him when he is a top gundog? Good point. If you can't look after it, don't get the dog, Dog.
SNSUN Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Thierry, the greatest Gunner of them all. (And wouldn't it be so incredibly camp shouting "Thierry, COME!" across the park...)
Jillyanne Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 I like the idea of a gunfrog. Maybe a guntoad? What about a guncod?
Deppo Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Any feedback would be appreciated, Dog. I'm busting my hump here.
Dog Posted 2 August, 2009 Author Posted 2 August, 2009 If you haven`t got the time now, what are you going to do with him when he is a top gundog? I haven't got time to train him everyday, also the thought of a puppy chewing, peeing and pooping everywhere puts me off, but my main concern is the fact that I have an old dog which is on its last legs at home and I don't want to upset her in any way by getting a puppy that will take over. She wont have another 12 months in her, and so it will work out well. Once he is fully trained he will come to work with me and come shooting and beating every week. OK? That's the dog story over, now back to names please... Migs Hector Diesel
Dog Posted 2 August, 2009 Author Posted 2 August, 2009 (edited) Jillyanne why am I a liar? I'm as serious a cancer when I'm in the lounge. The dog is paid for and going to school next week. Enjoy your evening. Edited 2 August, 2009 by Dog
Jillyanne Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Ok, I think we get the message. Still a waste of money IF you are being serious.
Robsk II Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 What about a guncod? No, I've got it - a gunsloth. Best thing ever. Train this:
Jillyanne Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 RobskII - I feel the need for a new thread - on you go luv!!!
hypochondriac Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 I'll train him for half what you are paying!
Jillyanne Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 I'll train him for a third of what you are paying, I will also thow in a Bengal kitten.
Dog Posted 2 August, 2009 Author Posted 2 August, 2009 Stick your Bengal kitten up your ar.se, and how exactly would you train it to be a fully trained gundog? Walking it to the shops to get a loaf of bread and half ounce of liqurice torpedos aint gonna get me my quarry retrieved.
hamster Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Seriously Dog Ther is only one name that fits your requirements. Trigger Close this thread, don't thank me.
