SaintRichmond Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 We have lost One striker ..(John) We are very weak in the middle of defence IF Rasiak plays, we may score But ... ( Sorry) .. I predict 3 - 1 to Millwall
Genk Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Going on the basis that we haven't won our first game in god knows how many years, i'm going to go for a nice 1-1 draw. On another note, Anybody know how many tickets have been sold so far?
Matthew Le God Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Going on the basis that we haven't won our first game in god knows how many years, i'm going to go for a nice 1-1 draw. What relevance does how we did in 1993, 1996, 1999, 2005 etc have on the 8th August 2009? NONE - Different players different team
ottery st mary Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Saints 3-1..We are on the move up the ladder after3 more wins.. We are the best... New signings on Monday/Tuesday..........Hopefully.
egreog Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Almost never win first game of season........therefore 0-2 and reality kicks in that we are adrift by 10 points and badly need a spine to the team
the boy from saints Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Can see us leading up until the 70th-ish minute then they'll score and we'll hit the post a couple of times...1-1. I can feel it in me waters!
sidthesquid Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 What relevance does how we did in 1993, 1996, 1999, 2005 etc have on the 8th August 2009? NONE - Different players different team That's what I say every time, but it doesn't seem to make much difference
Kaiser Soze Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 2-1 Saints. When was the last time we won on the opening day?
Junction 9 Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 We'll lose and end up on -13 at close of play.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Saints 0 - 3 Millwall a tough lesson learned.
madsent Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 We'll lose and end up on -13 at close of play. It's not possible for the other 23 teams to win on the first day We won't be more than 10 points back of safety unless there's a glut of draws. I'm going for an 2-2 considering we don't have any chance of stopping Millwall from scoring.
shurlock Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 A draw with confirmation at the final whistle that the division is a load of s**t and we are unable to be ruthless when it matters.
SW11_Saint Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 1-1 although it won't surprise me if Millwall nick it, they are a force in this division, and we are (at present) much weaker than we were last year. Have patience though, once AP has the right players in the right places, we will start flying.
Denzil Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 2-1 Saints. When was the last time we won on the opening day? Coventry away in '97 I think mate, I could be wrong though.
Pat from Poole Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Coventry away in '97 I think mate, I could be wrong though. Think it was '99 at Cov. Good train trip that day.
Charlie Wayman Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 0-2 unless something changes for the better this week. Although I did have a strange dream that we beat millwall 2-0 and the jam got back together..........both very unlikely,in fact more likely that the jam will reform.:-) 0-2 is exactly how I call it as well bearing in mind what we have seen so far in the build up. We are not ready; even if AP manages to bring in "two new faces this week" how on earth can anybody expect them to blend in by Saturday. Even Ronaldo & Beckham wouldn't alter the outcome that much Our lads were cream crackered yesterday 'cos the poor souls had to work too hard in training last week... effing dingbats, they're not even fit yet. I can see us being on -10 for quite some time and if we get turned over three times in the first week, boy we are going to struggle all the way. Mid table is where we are heading if this happens
SaintBobby Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Tough opening game. It will take some time for the team to gell, especially if a couple of new players come in. Milwall are one of the btter sides in this division - although they are probably the weakest side we have started a season against in 20+ years. I'd be happy with a point - and a good performance from Lallana, who might (just might) be our key man this season.
Robsk II Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 I didn't know you were 15, I thought you were younger.
Whitey Grandad Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Hmm, a difficult match to call. I suppose I'd settle for a draw. I'm fairly certain that next Saturday's team will be nothing like the the one we have at Christmas.
dubai_phil Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Meh Is it on Telly? If so I'll be in the pub watching the game without Eric (he got a sick note -he's coming over to catch swine flu) so we'll concede a goal within the time it takes me to say phew hopefully we won't concede a goal within the first oh bugger If not then I reckon it will be 45 minutes of "oh, so nothing's changed then" as we naively play ourselves into a 0-2 half-time deficit Then suddenly we'll remember that things HAVE changed and it will be emotive edge of the seat stuff and we'll come back to either 2-2 or a lucky deflection/dodgy ref decision will see it ending 2-3 C'mon gang, this is Saints, sure new era and all that but we're bound to have a reminder before we really move on!
dubai_phil Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 0-0 or 0-1,0-2,0-3 Wow, that's pretty emphatic then...... Say hi to Grammy for me
AussieDog Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 We will get something positive out of the game....if we can sign a striker and a CB this week then I will go for a thumping win by Saints (4-1?)...if we don't make any signings . then first priority will be a clean sheet, so maybe 0-0
SFC Forever Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 I am sorry to say it but I fear a defeat and 0-2 the score.
yorkie Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 I had a weird dream on Friday night - we beat Millwall 5-0. Two things that were really strange: 1. I was under the East Stand at The Dell? 2. I didn't recognise any of the team! The 3rd goal was surreal - Millwall couldn't clear their lines and a young centre forward hassled and robbed the defender - and stuck it in the back of the net. I say surreal because that's the sort of thing that catches us out! If anyone can analyse this dream I would be very interested! By the way I think 5-0 is a little optimistic...still might be worth a fiver!
fanimal Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 The Northam will help dig out an edgy 2-1 win, just need a bit of luck as in 90% of football matches. And the fact we are on -10 is a huge incentive! COOYRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSS!
itchen_dan Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 It's on Sky = Defeat I hope I'm wrong but I say Saints 0-1 Millwall
Toomer Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Saints 2 - Millwall 1 Just out of interest is there going to be a prediction league this season.
WGC Saint Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 We ALWAYS lose the first game of the season - FACT. We ALWAYS lose when we're on Sky - FACT. We haven't exactly set the world alight pre-season....... Therefore I predict a Saints win 1-0! (Though my head is really saying 2-0 to Millwall)
Fozzybear Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 First game of the season/on SKY - the omens aren't good Our defence is looking as ropey as the opener against Crystal Palace a couple of years ago, and we know what happened then. An uphill struggle without some decent signings, i predict a defeat 2-1 Millwall (though i wish to god that i am proved wrong!)
John B Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Absolutely no idea probably like the rest of the posters
SaintDonkey Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 Unless we sign a centreback I can't see us keeping a clean sheet with Thomas injured. And I can't see us scoring with a pair of want away strikers. Saints 0 - 2 Millwall I hope I'm wrong
SaintRichmond Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 We'll lose and end up on -13 at close of play. Don't get yor logic ......... We start on -10 If we lose, we get "0" points .... so we will still be on -10 Where do you get -13 ......... or was it a "joke" ???
