richie Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 I have been to a few matches on my own. There arent many saints fans in Bucks but I go with my Dad or take the missus. Went to Goodison park once on my own. It was a long way!!!! Its not too bad actually and it gives me time to concentrate on the game. I like people watching and my own company! same thing with golf. Quite often play better on my own, though I have a few playing partners, as I can concentrate more.

Your own company and the Super Saints to watch is fine by me.Wouldn't want to be on my own every match though.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 I've gone to matches alone before. Went to Middlesboro' the year we went down alone and to Doncaster and Swansea last season
Red&White Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 I go on my own now, family`s grown up mates have got fed up going. I wasn`t too keen at first but find now I mostly prefer it. I usually go for a pint in a Saints pub there is always someone to chat to about the footie. Perhaps a few of us loners could meet up for a beer before a game ? waddya think ?
cellone Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 I've been going on my own for 5 yrs. This was o.k in the kingsland north as I got to know those around me and had enough room if a few mates did want to come. When they closed the corners I got dumped in a single seat in the centre where a polite clap is the maximum noise tolerated.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 I have sh*t loads of mates if anyone ever needs to borrow some.

sperm_john Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 Well I have spent 18 hours in the air ( 4-5 of it in heavy turbulence over Asia ! ) another 3 hours on a coach .Cost me a packet and gone to the game still all alone ....and Ive done it more than once ! Mmmm ....if your a sad case I dread to think what I am ! Thats commitment! I went to the brum game last season on my own, its not that bad, you just become more aware of some of the knuckle head fans we have that travel away!

spain saint Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 with GH I assume Glenn Hoddle was in my bar last week with Graham Rix and a few nobodys!! True story!
Amesbury Saint Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 last few seasons most of the time on my own.
Dalek2003 Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 Glenn Hoddle was in my bar last week with Graham Rix and a few nobodys!! True story! Really ? Wow !
Ash Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 You're not on your own (being a Saints fan in lincs that is) There's also me, a friend from work, my 2 year old boy - he sings super saints anyway and my Dad. Whenever a thread likes pops up a fair few Lincolnshire saints turn up but I have lived here over twenty years and never bumped into one of them. We need some kind of secret haircut to identify ourselves to each other. Whereabouts do you all hide? Nobody around the Sleaford area?
Deppo Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 More often than not. We are all alone, essentially...
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 1 August, 2009 Posted 1 August, 2009 Most often on my own, grew-up abroad and strangely none of my neighbours seem keen on coming with me.
Deppo Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 No - what a loser!! Says the man on SWF at 3.36 in the a.m...
chrisobee Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Says the man on SWF at 3.36 in the a.m... Responded to by the man who is here at 4.40am !
*Halo* Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 i actually prefer going to st. mary's on my own alot of the time. a match day is a thing i have to do between me and southampton football club. it makes it more special that way Same for me, I usually go alone through choice. Saturday's are akin to making a Sacred Pilgrimage to St. Mary's for me. It's a personal journey, back to my Home City, which I enjoy to undertake with just my own company. The sense of pride, in the pulling on of the Red and White Striped shirt... The train up to Southampton from Bournemouth, with the build up of the feelings and anticipation of 'coming home'. Arriving, stepping off the train into Southampton Central, and the walk to the Ground, filled with the buzz of being back in my Home City that I love, and the excitement of once again entering the 'Holy Place' of St. Mary's, and 'Worshipping' within the fellowship of my brethren, at the back of the Northam. There is nothing like it, the Sacred Pilgrimage to St. Mary's; and whilst I sometimes let my Dad accompany me (as he understands my 'Reverence' for the occasion) it is definitely a 'spiritual' journey I enjoy most to take alone; almost like a 'religious' experience.
exeter_saint Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 im based in exeter in the week and will be travelling back for week night games next year i suspect! gizza' lift! lol
Deppo Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Responded to by the man who is here at 4.40am ! No I wasn't.
OfnPanad Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 My family are in Southamprton so any home games I go to, I go with them. I'm the only Saint in my area (as far as I know) so away games I always end up going to alone. Feel a bit sad sometimes aye but once the game is underway who cares?
Saint_Jonny Posted 2 August, 2009 Posted 2 August, 2009 Ive been on my own quite a few times, when my mates cant be arsed I always can! Plenty of you lot to keep me company so its all good
thesaint sfc Posted 3 August, 2009 Posted 3 August, 2009 I've gone on my own a few times and usually ended up talking to the bloke I'm stood next to and getting on really well and going out for a few beers after. Saints fans are the best in the world. FACT.
Liquidshokk Posted 23 October, 2010 Posted 23 October, 2010 Any loners in the itchen intrigued by the post match stuff in the starting today but concerned about standing around on their own??? I sit on my own in row K block 7 and quite like the sound of it but someone to share a pint with would be good! :-D
JustMike Posted 23 October, 2010 Posted 23 October, 2010 i go on my own but always bump into people i know. I also dont see it as "going on my own" as around 19,000 of my family are there too
negium Posted 23 October, 2010 Posted 23 October, 2010 Ever since we built St Marys I have been going on my own. got to know people around me but a lot of them have stopped coming over the years as we have declined. My fiance comes along when she can ut only about 4 -5 games a season
