I have...more often than not..when I bother to makethe trip up from plymouth, most of the lads I used to go with either work on a Sat or do stuff with their kids etc..

does anyone else go on their own or am I complete saddo..?

Never have done in the past, but as I got my season ticket with just one other person it is more than likely I will go on my own at least once this season. Don't worry, it's not sad, just a bit loner-ish.

but if you go to games and sit in the same place, you normally make friends around you.

I go along with my daughter, but speak to many around us....whether they want to or not Lol

Yes.I quite often go on my own both home and away, unless my son comes with me.

He is at uni next month so will be going on my own again.

I don't mind in the least,as I can please myself what time I get to the ground etc.

I have to say that don't I as I don't have a lot of choice. :D

i actually prefer going to st. mary's on my own alot of the time. a match day is a thing i have to do between me and southampton football club. it makes it more special that way, especially if the game is sentimental - i remember making a point of not allowing any1 to go with me after we went into admin, and to many other games. when im in the ground i feel like i have 30,000 friends sat with me (or maybe nearer 20,000 these days)

Well I have spent 18 hours in the air ( 4-5 of it in heavy turbulence over Asia ! ) another 3 hours on a coach .Cost me a packet and gone to the game still all alone ....and Ive done it more than once !

Mmmm ....if your a sad case I dread to think what I am !

Sort of, but I knew the people I travelled with on the train and knew the bloke who sat next to me all season.

Nothing wrong with choosing to go to games on your own TDD but it sounds like Saint_clark is hopelessly trying to be liked by almost anybody in some way. Can't see it working out myself.

Been to a few home games by myself, though being in the Notham, it didnt seem like it, only once done an away game alone, the game was crap norwich away in December the guy next to me was annoying oh yeah and it was ****ing freezing!.

Yes - I have went to one last season - Cov City at home. When I lived up North I used to go to away games by myself - and that was in the days when Saints only took 50 so to away games because of the aggro. So you're not a saddo - you're a fan !

I've gotto say - I always head for the Northam end because the atmosphere sucks you in and you don't feel like you're on your own......

Did we lose 3-1? Belmadi scored for us and then Dean Ashton scored a hattrick for them? It was snowing so much you couldn't see the stand opposite. Am I talking about the right game?

I've always had a mild touch of agoraphobia, not that i can't leave my house but that large groups of people leave me uncomfortable, brought on i think by millenium eve when crushed in London. In the past, i've only made a couple of journeys to away games when i can get friends to come, but this year i'm over it and will be travelling alone to St Mary's as much as work allows!

Absolutely. As a fellow Lincolnshire exile a few years ago I realised I wasn't going to get to many games without going on my own. You can tempt the Arsenal, Man Utd etc. fans once or twice but nobody is going to very often.

Thankfully the Mrs now comes and keeps me company and as a result I go far more often but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to go on my own should she pack it in.

I travel to games with mates but do not sit with them, all the different people I have had s/t's with no longer attend, but I like my seat so have stuck with it.

I usually know a few people that sit close, so can have a beer with at h/t if I wish.

Doesn't matter who you are with when the game is on anyway.

Yep,done a few on my own.

Mainly when i was living in london, used to get the coach from Heathrow down to Soton, couple of sherberts before and after then back on the coach.

If and when I go to away games I generally go with other people. Swindon game will be the first time on my own to an away game! Anyone from Gloucester or Cheltenham going down on the train in the evening????

But I have gone to several home games on my own - as someone else has already said, everyone is there for the same thing so it doesn't really matter.

now and again from exeter, went to bristol last year on my own as it wasnt far, can usually find one or to who are up for it tho!

im based in exeter in the week and will be travelling back for week night games next year i suspect!

I go on my own most of the time. the majority of my friends are football hating philistines lol. my gf has shown an interest of late so had some company for those games. got to know the guys sitting around me so still get to have a good chat and tend to take a radio so get the match commentary as i am watching it lol

I've been going to games on my own since '92 plus several away too. My ex wife did go with me for a few years when we were together. Being short of money prevented me having an ST since '04. But I've had a turn around in fortunes and will be renewing my ST again on Monday... again on my own.

I have friends who reguarly get match day tickets so more often than not see them before a game and at half time but apart from that I'll still be watching the games alone.

I have got a season ticket and I will be stood next 2 as of now unknowns. I often travel to games on my own due to shift work, but I go to the same pub each game and meet up with guys I know. After drinky poos I wander to the ground on my own as I am in a different stand to the rest. So in reflection I am a plastic saddo.

Ok. I'll admit it. I go to games on my own most of the time. It's probably been for the best that I drive back to Reading on my own these days though. I probably wouldn't be very good company.

That happens a lot at Test matches and always puzzles me. Do you not believe what your own eyes are telling you !!

This season I mostly will, since many of the family have moved far away from Southampton. That's a shame, but with a season I expect to get to know one or two around.

When they are back the seats around me will be occupied, but we'll meet up in The Dell Bar. And they hated my singing anyway.

You're not on your own (being a Saints fan in lincs that is)

There's also me, a friend from work, my 2 year old boy - he sings super saints anyway and my Dad.

Only been to a Saints game on my own for a half - my mate had to leave at half time as Arsenal were on the TV (it was when the ground was pretty flooded and our start got delayed against Leicester; pleased to say that we won and Arsenal lost!)

Only been on my own once when I started uni and didn't really know anyone to invite. Since then I've managed to convert a few mates to Saints fans and SMS regulars and sometimes have 10 or so mates who want to come to games! Makes getting seats together in the Northam a bit harder though!
