Taken for mugs again?

Why don't we all give him some time and stop whinging because it's actually pathetic. We have a new owner we shouldn't have all this petty moaning, our job is to get behind the new owner, the new manager and play our part in making this club great again.

You were doing really well until you got to this bit - nobodies whinging and posting on here is pathetic eh??? Well that covers everyone including yourself then! What you're saying is, if you don't agree with a persons POV then that persons POV is petty moaning and that person is playing no part in making this club great again. Either you're mad or a very poor conversationalist, or both?

Wise men say that only fools rush in !!

Ahhhh!!!! But procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday. Remember, Robinson Crusoe had everything done by Friday. And a man too.

I think the biggest shock is going to be who will be on the new Board. That's when we'll see just how much we've been taken for mugs. Patience is indeed needed but I'm not at all impressed by the lack of ambition shown by Pardew's back up team. Seems to me more like he's avoiding taking on anyone who might pose a threat to himself as manager in future. I just can't can't imagine what some of the young players are thinking about what's being said. I'm hoping Pardew was thinking more of the Ollie Lancashires than those other youngsters that give the all for the club.

2 people who've managed at this level and have excellent reputations as coaches? Where's the lack of ambition there?

Okay so it's not Sven as director of football but do we really want that?

Davis

Murty

Harding

Thomas

Perry

Mills

Schneiderlin

Gillett

Thompson

Rasiak

Paterson

If someone had said after the Forest game that would be our starting XI for the first game of the season I would have been delighted.

People are going way OTT with the whole we need 7 players...

Murty STILL hasnt signed from what I know (one of the longest trials ever?) and Thomson and Patterson are largely unproven, so i'm not massively happy with that team tbh. If we could sign up Murty and get another centre back in as first choice, then the defence looks very solid, the midfield is very young but no doubt keen, and Rasiak will obviously be one of the best in this division but there's large question marks over whether he'll be here.

Yep the market is dead......

Norwich signed 9

Brentford signed 6

Brighton signed 7

Exeter 6

MK Dons 7

Oldham 7

Teams that have bought 1 player or less = 2 (Us and Stockport)

Haven't we brought in 2 players = Harding and Murty ?? Or is Murty not on board yet ?

Sorry - I see someone answered the Murty thing above!

I cant believe it, what has the new owner done for the Club, apart from saving it, clearing the debts, sacking a hopeless manager, appointing a new Manager, resigning our player of the season and offering reasonable priced season tickets? He needs to get his finger out, why haven't we signed 10 more players on mega long term contracts, after all he's been in charge 6 weeks and Pardew's been here nearly a month. The blokes worse than Rupert Lowe, he needs to go............
Yes the respect is well earned.

It is silly to worry that not only have we sold a few of our players but we are starting on minus 10 and that it seems we have not as yet replaced them.

Whilst i have faith in the new regime it is not strange to still be concerned. Millwall is a tough start, even at home (the last time I can recall winning the first game of the season was in the late 1980's with Colin clarke scoring against QPR)

This time next week we may have 2-3 new players, but they will not have played in the team by then. It is not ideal but lets not worry, and just grin and bear it. The OP is fair and it is to all our benifit that the team is strong and starts well. This site is slow and so threads like this at least gets people on here posting.

Frankly you seem to be forgetting that Rasiak is unlikely to stay possibly Schneiderlin as well oh and you forgot Lallana and Wotton. I think the current squad is not good enough and will start the season next Saturday on -10 points. Hence I am getting worried particularly about the lack of forwards and centre backs and any statements from Mr Cortese or Oldknow about the immediate plans for the team. I want to know now not at the end of August......

I would agree with you Andy. However, there's no news of Murty signing one week since a good performance in the Hearts game. All the signs are that Rasiak wants out and will not be stopped from leaving. Schniederlin has not played with the 1st team alongside Gillett in a decent friendly. Thomas couldn't make it past 70mins in the Hearts game. The squad is paper thin in terms of depth.

Hit the ground running....

Try and overturn our -10 asap....

add some confidence to us battered fans....

give us the best chance to gain promotion....

If we just crowbar 7 new players into our squad we won't hit the ground running at all.

If Rasaiak goes he will need replacing, Holmes needs replacing and we probably need another centre back because Thomas and Perry won't last all season. Add Murty to that and we should have a pretty strong starting XI and subs bench and we won't have a whole new team to gel.

Personally I hope Rasiak stays, Murty signs and we get a decent winger and centre back in before the 8th. Really don't see an urgent rush to bolster any other position.

Makes no sense to panic buy a load of players who are no better than what we have only to shift them on or replace them in January.

Oh, and C. there is no garuntee's of fitness

or D. be loads better than we have E. Be fit and ready F. help us to overturn our -10 G. Show our intent and help all those that have bought season tickets feel alot more optomistic

But surely the 'market' is very slow ATM anyway? Not THAT many signings in any of the divisions from what I've seen.

If ML is as shrewd as has been reported, he's probably suggested 'we' play a quiet hand so 'we' don't get ripped off by agents / players / clubs thinking we've got a small fortune to spend (or even a large one).

I think you will find ML has set the budget, not the strategy in buying players.

This will be down to Oldknow and AP - I hope.

I know Murty hasn't signed but it must be a forgone conclusion we wouldn't mess him around for this long.

I should probably have put Lallana right wing ahead of Thompson. Paterson might be unproven but he looks class from what i've seen he seems to have everything apart from the eye for goal, would make a good partner for Rasiak.

if Rasiak goes he will need replacing as number one priority, we won't get anywhere without a recognized goal scorer, will be just like last season all over again.

Obviously Pardew knows that and I imagine he will be in talks with strikers now if Rasiak is on the move.

GK - Sorted

RB - James (Murty possibly) if not Cover needed

LB - Harding (Molyneux, not good enough imo) Cover needed

CB - Perry (Can he play every week? Unlikely) Lancashire to cover

CB - Thomas Cover or better needed

RM - Sorted (Lallana, Thomson and McLaggon)

LM - Mills and Holmes (Holmes stays fit then sorted) if not cover or better needed

MF - Schneiderlin Cover or better needed

MF - Gillet (Wotton can cover)

ST - Patterson Cover or better needed

ST - White Cover or better needed

If Rasiak or Saga stays the delete ST needed

I have an uncomfortable feeling that the ST ticket deadline has once again co-incided beautifully with the start to the season. And like other previous years, we all stump up our ST money hoping for a rejuvenated and improved team, only to be informed that there's no money to improve the squad. AP's latest commentary in the Echo on playing kids is not too encouraging - heard that one before have we not?

I know we've just been saved and we should be eternally grateful and all that stuff, but I hate feeling that I've been taken for a mug once again by paying my hard-earned for a sub-standard product.

Come on Markus and Alan - give us something to really cheer about so we can start this next season of games on a high. PLEASE!

keep saying 98% of transfers are within last 24 hours of window.

most teams haven't signed many

our squad actually doesn't need that many additions to make it competitive -as Hearts game indicatated.

I didn't renew expecting cash to be splashed around, nor did most.

Ridiculous lack of patience.

Probably didn't make my point properly, he's still here but he can't be relied on imo. Too many injuries.
Thanks, I really like him and hope he gets more games in this season. He really was taken out badly by that QPR defender.I dont think he can be blamed for getting that injury.

He's very good when he's fit but last season he only managed 11 games and so far in pre season he got 45 minutes against Eastleigh where he went over on his ankle and hasn't featured since.

He will be lucky to play 10 times this season imo.

Surely these are just excuses though? If the new regime were really any different to what we've previously experienced, AP would have the resources necessary to make decisive moves for the men he needs.

As an example, if that's the case, why has Murty not signed - it seemed a nailed on certainty to me? Either the offer is derogatory to him or AP does not want to make an offer yet or he has been let go. All strange possibilities given the circumstances of our ownership, previous messages of hope and the fact that we're so close to the season starting.

I do wonder whether AP is finding it very hard to convince players of any worth (i.e. better than the youngsters) to come to us.

The amount of 'stop whinging' posts are also very annoying. We are entitled to vent our frustrations and will continue to do so.

We need 7 or 8 new players (imo) I am frustrated as im sure AP is.

The season starts next week not in Sept, so players are needed yesterday not end of Aug.

Agreed ... but if The Pinnacle Plot hadn't happened ...... we would have had FIVE more weeks to get players in..........

(I suppose when MI5 open the Files in 30 years time, we will find out the truth)

Yet another thread........yet more moaning fans demanding that we sign someone, anyone, just because the owner is rich. The time to be bleating is December, not two weeks into the new dawn. AP said great fans, I hope he doesn't look on here and see all the negative vibes coming from the whining few.

What I am saying is, the last 24 hours is not a great idea - it was the old regimes way of doing things and we paid the price in two relegations. Why keep on doing this? I may be wrong, but I for one am not impressed with the idea that it will all come good once the season starts. It has nothing to do with expecting cash to be splashed as such and it is not about patience...its all about proper preparation. If ML bought the club not thinking that there would be every likelyhood that we would need emergency resources very quickly, then he was poorly advised IMO.

My impression was that ML and his team DID know there would need to be urgent attention to the squad - the trouble is we're still waiting to see some sign that AP will be supported adequately to arrest the decline.

AP is ambitious, just like the 'moaning' fans on here. He wants top 2 this year and knows its not possible without new signings.

If AP did read this site, im sure he'd say he's just as frustrated as us 'moaners'

true, new owner has only

bought club

paid off debt

signed Pardew - would never have afforded him last year

signed Asst manager with more experiece than last years manager

agreed contract with KD

signed LB - one more than we has last year

offered Stern John contract - which we couldn't afford to do last year.

turned down offers for Lallana and Schneiderlin - giving public statement that we do not need to sell any player

The fast food generation demand instant gratification...

Interesting statement that... who are these people? 'Fast food' has been with us for at least 25 years now, so that's a couple of generations. Does that mean that if we were born more than 25 years ago for example, we are not a part of this group of people (counts me well out!)?

Fast food ain't what it used to be either...fast food my *rse!

Yes wanting the best for our team and hoping that we can overturn our -10 must be considered 'rushing in'

Two types of fan on here -

the happy clappy "we have our club back" & "I will be happy to stay up this season"

and then the ambitious amongst us that realise (like AP does) that a few signings and we could be promoted this season.

Charlton have signed just three players, one of which was only today. We've signed Harding and at a stretch you could say Davis. Christ stop being such a drama queen. Quality players at the right price and on the right wages are hard to get no matter who you are and what level.

I dont think we have been taken for mugs but, with a ten point deduction and with the present squad this season could be over before its begun, except for a relegation scrap. I thought that those days were behind us,but things ( on the playing front ) appear to remain the same.
