hamster Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 Great news for us lower league supporters in that there is to be a new publication every Sunday just for us Div 2, 3 and 4 fans (also some scotch bits). First one out on Sunday 9th Aug priced £1.50. http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10416~1737487,00.html
Toadhall Saint Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 Also are the BBC not focusing more on the "lower" leagues this season? I'm sure I've seen an advert with all the club mascots running around.
Colinjb Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 They should start selling that in the club shop. The old non league paper is a great read too, deserving of far wider circulation.

They're broadcasting a football league highlights program after MOTD. Don't know if they have any rights to the live coverage.

Scudamore Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 Think i'll stick with the Pink...so to speak... Could they not just change the name of the damned thing...people always give me a funny look when i mention it over here in Bournemouth...
SaintDonkey Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 This is about the third relauch for this. I used to buy it before it last went belly up - not the greatest but only way any of us exiles from Southampton are ever going to get a write up of any Southampton games the old fashioned way.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 Am I excited about this? Err, let me think about that.... Err. Errr. ....I guess that's a no then.

mikec Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 They're broadcasting a football league highlights program after MOTD. Don't know if they have any rights to the live coverage. BBC will be showing 10 live games during the season starting with WBA v Newcastle on the opening day. They are only showing Championship matches though :-(
londonsaint1604 Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 ..and there's more: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=15353 Sorry, how could I forget: Steve Claridge will be adding his expert analysis
CB Fry Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 BBC will be showing 10 live games during the season starting with WBA v Newcastle on the opening day. They are only showing Championship matches though :-( I'm not sure the BBC can justify putting games on involving tiny little lower league clubs that no one has ever heard of like Leeds United, Norwich City, Charlton and Southampton.
Pancake Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Anyone managed to track down a copy of this yet? Ive tried everywhere around here.
SaintDonkey Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Anyone managed to track down a copy of this yet? Ive tried everywhere around here. They had a copy in my local newsagent - that doesn't really help anyone outside of Holloway though
stevegrant Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 I hope the quality of the journalism has improved from its previous efforts...
Charlie Wayman Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 They're broadcasting a football league highlights program after MOTD. Don't know if they have any rights to the live coverage. They do. This year they outbid ITV and it'll be interesting to see how they manage all four leagues without everyone dozing off. I bet the Prem prima-donna's won't like sharing their spot with the pub teams from the Football League
VectisSaint Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 They had a copy in my local newsagent - that doesn't really help anyone outside of Holloway though Hope the parole comes through soon
Professor Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Lets hope the paper does well. The national press behaves as if the public are suddenly interested in Burnley, Hull or Stoke because they have gone up a division, or that people lose their interest in Newcastle or WBA if they've gone down. Fact is people want to read about their own team, regardless of which league its playing in. It would be nice if the nationals gave balanced coverage to all football instead of fawning over the ones getting the TV money, so good luck to The League.
Saints67 Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 If this is the same as the one launched about 2 or 3 years ago then I hope they've improved it. I found it was just a re-hash of stuff which could be easily found on the internet.
Wilko Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 It's an excellent paper. I encourage you all to buy it on the off chance that wage may increase.
chrisobee Posted 11 August, 2009 Posted 11 August, 2009 Anyone managed to track down a copy of this yet? Ive tried everywhere around here. Always available in Sainsbury's on a Sunday morning..........at least here in Watford anyway !

Well unless it really is bad I'll be getting it every Sunday. Seems Ok to me though given how many games it covers a few of the reports on Sunday weren't up to much but that's not surprising.

Block 5 Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 I haven't managed to find a copy in Salisbury yet. Has anyone else got a copy?
