saint_stevo Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 Reccomendations please........ Considering a 1.9 tdi Astra, but a bit lame looking unless i go SRI then out the price range. Considering MK5 Golf, Megane, Astra, Focus but open to others. Also....how much am i likely to get for a Mk4 Golf Gti 125bhp, 1999, 1yrs MOT, 6months Tax 109k, some SH? Better the trade or sell privately?
sotonjoe Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 you could get a skoda fabia vrs in that price range. It all depends what space you want though I guess.
saint_stevo Posted 30 July, 2009 Author Posted 30 July, 2009 Well i have no Kids (that i know of....) Just something sportyish looking and fun to drive Maybe no higher than Ins Grp 10 though, dont want a bigger premium. any idea what group the fabia vrs is?

sotonjoe Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 It's be worth driving one. The engine will cause you much more excitement than anything you will get in the other cars mentioned.

sotonjoe Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 I though the 2.0l Gti only produced 115bhp so I've just learnt something new there.

Ponty Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 Laguna 175GT or RenaultSport Megane 175. Nice engine that.

Post-it note Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 Will you be transferring the ants to your new car?
Sev Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 saint_stevo said: Correct, santos stalker. No, just one of those VAG geeks that Ponty loves so much. No stalking necessary anyway, seeing as you've seen fit to publish your history of car problems on a regular basis. You've said diesel but you haven't mentioned why? Out of the models you've mentioned, the mk5 Golf 140bhp diesel is good, and can be had in fairly 'sporty' GT / Sport spec, but used Golfs are often overpriced compared to similar cars and at that price you'd probably looking at high mileage. Focus TDCi seems like a safe bet for your money, that's if you can find a diesel model that is sporty enough for you. Stick to the newer shape Focus if you do though, because the older Foucs has a pretty minging interior on all but the very top models, imo. You thought about Leon TDI? They're more sporty looking than some of the others mentioned, or would it be a major no-no having a diesel version of the car of the man 'responsible' for ending your football career? http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/SEAT+LEON/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-20-25-51-54-62-144-240-4294965066-4294966202/advert.action?R=200931338736335 http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/SEAT+LEON/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-20-25-51-54-62-144-240-4294965066-4294966202/advert.action?R=200931338812494

Quite like the Focus TDCi, and will consider the Leon, but ideally don't want that many miles as the ones you posted, thinkin 60k plus. The Golf has stung me really in teh amount it has cost to keep on the road, so i am after something newer and less abused this time. Oh and P-I-N, the Ants will not be transferred
