Saints foreva Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 If they can give him good service - he will be a good signing. If not - He will be a poor signing.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 Good luck to him, we didnt treat him well after he helped keep us in the championship, all the best
Glasgow_Saint Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 A one year deal? Didn't we offer him two? One year in the CCC being paid 8k a week or 2 years with us being paid 3k a week. You do the maths
Thedelldays Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 A one year deal? Didn't we offer him two? someone on the echo site reckons our deal was around £2.5k a week Palace offered him around £10K a week with a larger signing on fee.. dont know how true this is
saintray Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 10 grand a week for stern john? Now dont get me wrong i think he would of done a fairly good job in league one and rather he stayed, but if he was asking for 10k a week, i say good riddance!!
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 Booo, he used us by returning to the club citing his wanting of a new deal with us to then play in friendlies and gain match fitness marketing himself to get another club with no actual intention to sign a contract with us. IMO out of contract players (unless obtained away from SFC - eg Murty) should not be allowed to play in friendlies until they have committed to us.

IMO he's not worth £8k - £10k per week in L1 or CCC.

SNSUN Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 I'll say it quietly because my mate is a Palace fan, apart from the link with Ryan Smith, Warnock has strengthened the front line quite well this summer. The loan signing of Freddie Sears could be the CCC signing of the summer.
Puddings and Monkeys Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 Good luck to him, we didnt treat him well after he helped keep us in the championship, all the best How did we not treat him well?
Dannyboy_Saint Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 How did we not treat him well? When the management tried everything to get him to leave, freezing him out of the first team in order to get him off the wage bill.
Fan The Flames Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 How did we not treat him well? By forcing him to go on loan to Bristol City and slgging him off on the OS when he went, shameful, Lowe at his lowest.
sotonjoe Posted 30 July, 2009 Posted 30 July, 2009 By forcing him to go on loan to Bristol City and slgging him off on the OS when he went, shameful, Lowe at his lowest. If you let the Lowe hatred go, you'll see that having to drastically reduce the wage bill was probably a necessity.
Big Ron fan Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 If you let the Lowe hatred go, you'll see that having to drastically reduce the wage bill was probably a necessity. The necessity was to have a proper manager/coach and let him do his job, rather than installing a 'revolutionary coching set-up'. We were relegated due to dreadful footballing decisions by the Chairman/coaches, not because of finances. Having said that, let's all move on from those dark days please...
Puddings and Monkeys Posted 31 July, 2009 Posted 31 July, 2009 When the management tried everything to get him to leave, freezing him out of the first team in order to get him off the wage bill. Perhaps we just could't afford him, nothing more than that?
