Give it to Ron Posted 30 July, 2009 Share Posted 30 July, 2009 Completed ....the fares are extortionate for such a small crossing compared to Dover-Calais.

Handyman Posted 3 August, 2009 Share Posted 3 August, 2009 I heard that it was the most expensive short distance ferry trip in the world. That was years ago. I wonder if it still is?
saint lard Posted 3 August, 2009 Share Posted 3 August, 2009 I heard that it was the most expensive short distance ferry trip in the world. That was years ago. I wonder if it still is? Cost myself £35 for a car 2 adults and 2 nippers on friday, using Red funnel. I believe i travelled the most expensive water crossing whilst on the island, east Cowes to west Cowes,£1.50 for about 40 seconds worth,on the official chain pulled boat. I think they were pulling my chain more like.
Mewsta Posted 3 August, 2009 Share Posted 3 August, 2009 £35 per car when i went a few weeks back Yea but doesn't that mean you can take 5 people in the car for that £35 quid, which IMO doesn't work out too expensive (that is if you can get 5 people that want to go )
Dicko Posted 3 August, 2009 Share Posted 3 August, 2009 £35? - that's cheaper than a few years back In 2001, I regularly took my car over on business & it cost me £51 for a day return A few weeks back, I took my car from Jersey to Weymouth & returned 4 days later -it cost £235 return Perhaps IOW ferries aren't so expensive after all
Islander Posted 3 August, 2009 Share Posted 3 August, 2009 Completed the survey! The cost depends on when you travel - time of year, time of day etc. Sometimes they do special offers and it can be cheaper to book in advance BUT it's still way too expensive.
