STERN rejects Saints offer

For all those who somehow think Stern John owes SFC anything...consider this...

He joined the club...scored roughly 1 goal every 2 games....kept us up on the final day against Sheff Utd. What was his reward? .....To be told 'Sorry Stern, you're too old and too slow to be part of our sexy new total football dutch revolution - be a good lad and see if you can find yourself another club.'

He got no loyalty from SFC 12 months ago, why should we be expecting him (or Saga or Rasiak) to be loyal to SFC now. I wasn't thrilled when we signed SJ, was surprised by the goals he got for us, (but he missed a shedload more) and I will always be grateful for those goals v Sheff Utd.

Thanks Stern. All the best - wherever you end up.

That is not the point. I am not saying he should necessarily show us loyalty, but what I am saying is that he has clearly fooked us about for his own gains. He has used us. He should have made it clear as soon as his contract ran out that he was looking for another club, as is his right to do so given he had no contract with us.

On the other subject you raise, how we treated John is a bit of a moot point. I think if we had the choice, we would certainly have kept him rather than send him out on loan. Fact is, we couldn't afford his wages anymore, so we had to do whatever to get him off the wage bill. The 'brave new world' of youth was something that was forced upon us due to mismanagement over many years.

Why did he say he wanted to stay and to get a new contract. ffs.. timewaster.

perhaps he thought that the billionaire owner would chuck silly money at him. I'm glad they didn't. Lets get hungry rising stars here.
