STERN rejects Saints offer

With every single one of them having represented his country bar Aubey and Skopelitas so your point is?

They're all shoite. HTH.

As for Stern John, bit of a shame, surprised he hasn't signed, but not surprised he's gone somewhere where he'll get more money and play a higher standard. We obviously offered him League One wages. As I said yesterday, each day and each deal will give as a better idea of what the new regime is going to be about.

At the moment they're showing... erm... admirable restraint.

Still not worth flapping about it yet - if we end up without Rasiak or Saganowski and no replacements, then I'll start worrying, but as yet there's nothing to make me think we won't be signing a few players and improving the squad with some solid, experienced pros.

Mike, you're wasting your time with 0_B_S.........he's like NC, he right we're wrong, so no reasoning. He is coming out with all this crap, maybe as a wind up......but he is going to end up with some serious egg on his face.

I suspect he'd rather end up with egg on his face than be proven right.

I believe the suggestion is that AP will have signed enough quality players before the start of the season and we go on to win our first 5 games as a result.

Maybe then he could start an apology thread that doesn't really apologise like someone we know!;)

Wrong.........the suggestion is the same that I have already stated. If we go up this season, then great, if we don't, then it's not the end of the world...............that would of been going out of existence. Throwing toys out of the pram a couple of weeks after being saved from oblivion, shows a great lack of maturity.

I think that's what you actually read into my previous post Trousers!!

The club has survived - get over it!! old news now

I now want us to push on and become a team to be proud of again - thats all

Shame Stern has turned us down because HCDDAJFU , I reckon our 'generous' offer was not quite generous enough . All the signs are Mr Leibherr intends to run his club as a profitable enterprise :smt107 and we're not about to pay over the odds to get (or keep) anyone -not necessarily a bad idea considering this clubs recent history .

There's plenty of speculation Rasiak & Saganowski are off soon as well so the need for striker reinforcements is patently obvious , but let's wait and see what happens before we start hitting the panic button just yet .

I think OBS is probably just a kid so can be forgiven for his naivity.

As far as i'm concerned the club should work on the principle of "getting it right first time". I respect Mr Liebherr immensely for buying us, but don't think we should expect him to throw money away.

I do expect more signings/departures before the transfer window closes, and i expect more of the same in January. We need to stay calm and show our support by trusting Mr Liebherr and his team. I'm convinced they won't let us down.

Not massively surprised at this. Look at how many clubs the man has had during his time in England. He's not adverse to the collection of a signing fee... Don't really blame him though, last big contract and it sounds like we offered wages in line with a decent L1 striker, likely a lot less than he'd get moving to CCC on a free. He could have gone about it in a much better way though.

As I've already mentioned on another thread, yes if the two Poles also leave, we will be dangerously thin up top, but obviously AP know this as well and will have plans to bring in new forwards. Getting John, Saga and Greg off the wage bill will presumably give us a lot more to play with in terms of offering contracts.

that both clubs have been conned into buying and fielding duds. Yours cost 1.7m quid and played in goal whilst ours got ten minutes before being quickly removed.

Somefigures upto 25th April 2009:

John, 20 goals in 38 games = 0.52% or 1 in 1.9 games; Rasiak, 33 in 68 = 0485% or 1 in 2.06 games and Saganomski 20 in 43 = 0.465% or 1 in 2.15 suggests John would be the biggest loss but there's not much in it. I'm not to concerned at the moment and trust Pardew to do his job, very please that there is a SFC to watch and for others to ***** about!

This has worrying similarities to last season when we (fans) hoped to keep at least one of our top 3 strikers ( John , Saga and Raziak ) and instead we left ourselves with Mc G only who was awful at the start of the season. As for loans from higher leagues - that certainly didnot work for us either. There is only a relatively short time as we are already at a huge disadvantage on minus 10. AP is on a team bonding exercise - dont you have to have a team to field first before you worry about the gimmicks ? In fairness I think AP will think SJ has kicked him in the goolies with this one.

Personally I don't think that their Saga or Rasiak will be leaving us in the near future.

Both of their performances out on loan in the last 12 months didn't exactly start any fires.

Perhaps, they have realised that scoring goals in League 1 may the best option for them to start having other clubs knocking on our door.

Since Stern John had allegedly claimed earlier his love of Bristol and wish to leave Saints (reported elsewhere on this forum) then surely AP, AO &Co would have been aware that until his signature was written on the contract, he was not part of the plan. I believe they are shrewd enough to have various plans to achieve our success. ( I nearly said goals, but that would have been an awful pun.) Don't rush for the anti-depressants just yet, lads. Take hope from the final bit of the OS article about John; new signings expected in the next few days.

At least we still have a club and team to support. I am overjoyed at that and the professional, rumour free way things have seemed to run so far. We have had years of gloom, so it is not surprising that some of us easily become despondent, yet things will get better.

Also, I don't wholly believe the George Burley line about the team taking months to "GEL"

Not to bothered to be honest, rather have players who want to play for us. Sounds like he doesn't want to play in league one but rather contradicts what he said the other week that he wanted to stay.

Might one be lead to wonder if Stern said he wanted to stay when he had no other offers! However as it would appear clubs are now pannicking as the season approaches he seems to have had a sudden change of heart.

I have to say, and this isn't sour grapes - he looked very leaden footed and over weight against Hearts whereas Rasiak was floating around the pitch with a confidence and fitness which made me think he is the one to target with a new contract - a class apart actually.........

Didnt mind using our facilities and a few friendly matches to get himself fit(tish) for a new club did he ?

Yep, and in order to get the use of those facilities, he fluttered his eyelashes at the club, saying he was keen to earn a new contract with us. So AP works on the pretence that he would probably have John upfront for us this season, and focuses his attentions on getting players in for other positions. In the mean time, Oldknow etc. are busy preparing a new contract for John, and all the while, John's agent is busy hawking him to other clubs and lo and behold... a hint of another offer comes in, and John is away.

So AO and AP have wasted their time which could have been much better spent trying to secure the services of someone else in that position, and in the mean time potential targets have gone elsewhere, and numerous friendlies have gone by which would have been well-served in helping to bed in a new striker.

Thanks for nothing, Stern John. Good f*king riddance.

For all those who somehow think Stern John owes SFC anything...consider this...

He joined the club...scored roughly 1 goal every 2 games....kept us up on the final day against Sheff Utd. What was his reward? .....To be told 'Sorry Stern, you're too old and too slow to be part of our sexy new total football dutch revolution - be a good lad and see if you can find yourself another club.'

He got no loyalty from SFC 12 months ago, why should we be expecting him (or Saga or Rasiak) to be loyal to SFC now. I wasn't thrilled when we signed SJ, was surprised by the goals he got for us, (but he missed a shedload more) and I will always be grateful for those goals v Sheff Utd.

Thanks Stern. All the best - wherever you end up.

You're Mr Content

and you're mr impatient who stamps his feet when he doesnt get his own way. have a word with yourself mate, after all the carp we have been through and the sheer amount of rebuilding that is needed you're having a hissy fit over not getting it sorted in under 2 weeks! You, or anyone else on here for that matter have no clue as to what is going on behind the scenes, no, you'd rather just find something else to moan about and point blame.
