CB Saint Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 I'm disappointed he has chosen to leave, but I am beginning to get the jitters as there seems to be more outward transfer than inwards at the moment. I know that a certain amount of patience is required, I advocated as much myself, but it still making me twitch.
TopGun Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 Not to bothered to be honest, rather have players who want to play for us. Sounds like he doesn't want to play in league one but rather contradicts what he said the other week that he wanted to stay. Exactly. Get rid of all those who want out. OldNick Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 Good jobs you boys are rich or players might turn you downyep we are now gunning for Bopp. We have told him 14 cases of Tolberone and a 2 day time share in the Alps is better than a camel ride and a night out with a lady boy sailor in Goldsmith avenue. Micky Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 At least we can see him for what he was, a mercenary. No shame in that he wants what is best for his family. He would have been lauded as a legend if he had stayed.Only KD fits the bill in my eyes at present as he turned down bretter to stay with us. Methinks this accolade is being 'earned' rather lightly these days, your post intimates that he could go from mercenary to legend in a single season whereas I would simply say that, during his time with us, he did a job. No more, no less, and certainly nowhere near legend.

saint_bert Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 Can I just say thanks to Stern. I for one won't forget his goals the other year in what was a dreadful side. That volley against hull was pure magic. And of course the Sheffield United game!!
Crowds Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 Alittle disappointed he used us to get fit then ****s off. I have to say im nervous how we need to sign 4 or 5 asap. But im sure AP knows what hes doing

Saint Fan CaM Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 Mmm, a little bit concerned now. Not so much in the individual player, as I think AP has other options, but in the time available to select and settle a cohesive team and re-assess areas of weakness. The more time drags on, the more need there is to spend more (i.e. fee, wages or both) to get the right man (men). But perhaps more importantly, if key players are dropping out this late on the harder it becomes to assess the balance of the team and hence finalise a 1st team squad. This happened to Burley to a degree IMO - he was panicked into spending big money on his mates with little thought to team balance. It's not easy for AP admitted, however the remainder of this week will now be crucial to obtaining the right players. I can only hope that Rasiak and Saga make their intentions clear very quickly - if they're going, the sooner they get off the books the better so AP nows what he can spend. Assuming they go, we need two strong, fast and experienced strikers. Without them we'll be cast adrift in League One very quickly IMO.
Dan Johnson Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 Happy with this TBH, Although Stern did score allot of goals for us, I was never really happy with his work rate, never really rated him as a player either and think we could probably attract younger better players who want to play here.... Freddy Eastwood anyone?

Chez Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 I'm pleased to be honest. I've never seen a lazier player ever in 26 years of watching saints. As I said on another thread discussing his potential move to Palace, John never gave a **** about Saints. There are other fish in the sea so to speak. Smirking_Saint Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 V dissapointed as i thought he would do well at this level, but at his age if he wants to take the CCC opertunities then i can understand that. I think it is too early to panic, i believe we will be ok. Just think personally looking at the limited game time he had at bristol he may be making a bad choice. lordswoodsaints Posted 29 July, 2009 Share Posted 29 July, 2009 Be prepared for a long hard winter people, with or without stern it was always going to be the case. IMO we will struggle in this league even if we do manage to sign a couple of players. We needed to sign 5 or 6 players that are too good for l1 and I really can't see us signing more than 1 or 2 at best. Tbh I don't think the owners share the same amount of urgency as me,I just hope that they have some secret plan otherwise we could see the repeat of last season, the only difference being that we are in a lesser league. Losing SJ is not the end of the world. How can you continue to slate AP for not bringing in players after such a short time in charge? You have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, just jumping on the nearest band wagon you can find. And yes, we are Saints, on -10 in L1...what do you seriously expect? and if anyones taking the **** its you. *edit* and yes it will take time to gel etc etc, even if AP had bought on mass as you seem to be suggesting, they still wouldnt have gelled by 8th August. As it stands he is a BIG loss - he scores goals - we have limited quality already - yes we may get someone else, but to date we haven’t - season starts in a few days - if we cant convince John to stay then I worry about convincing other talent to sign - John has played a pre-season with us and will be settled at the club – new players will not To say that John not signing makes no difference is silly
