:smt046:smt046:smt043:smt043Sorry nick, but that's funny.

Ginge, I suspect that was like a stab to your heart. Your rabies effected brain must have had you frothing at the mouth trying to come to terms with the wording.Of course it was very accurate and to the point. I look forward to his assessment of you Lol.

Exactly. I'm not sure what Duncan is so upset about. I'm still really pleased about the situation. We never had a say as a PLC anyway and it wasn't exactly giving us success!

Hypo - you really should not put words in people's mouths. For the record I am not "upset" or even "so upset" at recent events - I am, compared to last year, very satisfied about the turn of events. Thank God we have a club still and the Saturday ritual has survived.

However I am merely trying to point out that being taken over by a wealthy benefactor may not be the panacea to all our woes - like I said 100 times already on here it all depends on his committment and motivation. I believe ML to be upstanding and far more genuine than most of the other gun runners/porn magnates/oligarchs/bogus doctors and quick buck merchants who are increasingly becoming involved in the game.

Right have you got that Hypo? Not looking to be negative, just cautious and unwilling to raise my expectations too high too soon.

And for positive Pete (sorry Alpine) no I have not got "too close to Crouch" - apart from a couple of recent interesting phone calls re Pinnacle I have not spoken to him since the AGM.

When news first broke about Paul Allen there I was telling my son we would be bigger than Man Utd one day and we would be signing all the big stars blah blah blah - how stupid was that. I have come to realise English football is diseased by money, lust and greed and although I'm glad Southampton will be able to compete in the whore house I cannot be completely again seduced with the knowledge that although I can buy the prettiest girl in the brothel it will be with someone else's money. Like someone said perhaps I am getting old. 30 years ago no doubt I would have been kicking down the door to get in.

Anyway chaps this is a debating forum after all - forgive me for offering a slightly different perspective. I have already purchased my ST and I will be there a week on Saturday as nervous as a kitten as usual.

Good post FF, but let's be honest, although we all feel an 'ownership' of our club in reality we have no control over its destiny whoever funds the show.

All we can expect as Saints supporters are decent owners reflecting the ethos of the Corbetts and Ted Bates; a proud family tradition on the 'terraces' and a team that plays for the shirt with workrate, pride and flair.

That is what we were brought up to appreciate and there is no reason to now expect any less.

Please let this be true, hopefully hear something later today if this is the case.

Maybe you ought to start a new thread, as this one seems to have precious little to do with Stern John!

Well you don't get it.I stated from the off that it was not a criticism. It was my summary of how things will pan out, all IMHO. ML's business philosophy is that businesses are not subsidised but run on their own. Therefore i draw from that he will not be spending big and the club wil run off its own steam. Perhaps an initial spend to get us back on track, but the thought of lording it over all the other league clubs with big spends is not likely.

As i say not criticism but realism.

The club was bought outright and there in NO debt, therefore the 2.4 m mortgage repayments will now not have to be found, all helping the bottom line.

As for the Kaka snipe, perhaps you will put up a post where i have ever expected high class players? I am grateful to have a club, it is all the overexpectant fans who have gone overboard who are taking my comments as some kind of affront.

I think it was what appeared to be a positive comparison between ML and RL which got up a lot of goats, or possibly got a lot of goats up, on their hind legs braying wildly.

In comparison with the arrogance with which RL treated the world, especially his customers and employees, his "good" points come up very short indeed. Let the man sink peacefully like a stone, settle on the bottom and never be mentioned again.

His legacy, in part or in whole, cannot and should not be subject to any attempt of resurrection. Such arrogance is only worthy of contempt. Let's now move on to more interesting subjects.

John signs one year deal according to nott forest website, were they after him?

Odd way to hear, what with the lack of leaks from SMS, that this turns up on a Nottingham website. Is this a case of SJ phoning a mate there and it getting out that way?

Nosey, me.

completely agree, the horizon is looking much brighter, the sun is just peeking above to show us the new dawn. This site will stay quiet due to that as well

Let's give Pards some time.

First, he has to see what he's got

Second, the window does not close for while yet

third, We have to fix our defensive frailties (1-0 at home & 0-0 away would get us into the play offs, even with at -10 start)

Fourth, We do not want to waste money on a 'maybe'

shame he's gone - more time wasted and less time to get someone else bedded in.

One worry I have (and this is not criticising AP) is that the friendlies should be used to blend, settle and introduce players into each other's style but come Millwall we will have a team of virtual strangers lining up for us.

Hearing some more disturbing stories about Pinnacle too which makes me even more annoyed about the time they wasted.

He used us, first for training since nobody wanted him, then as a bargaining chip, and for that I hope his b*lls rot and fall off, but I'm sure I'll get over it.

What is more to the point with regard a post I wrote what seems ages ago, during the takeover, is that OS was first with the news!

That never used to be the case in the past, when the club's news and rumours alike leaked everywhere and the OS was the very last place to go for any authoritative statements. Mainly it was used for corporate chestbanging, trying to tell us the most inane nonsense, such as we hade "the fastest growing" radiostation in the south, or that the club was renowned for it's catering - (Of course it didn't mean the appalling fodder sold to fans on the concourse, which only claim to fame is that it is beaten in quality by burger vans and home brews, something of a world's first).

This might mean that I will have to change my searches to start with OS, rather than to add it as an afterthought.

I think it is a combination of the OS upping their game, people concerned about losing their jobs if they leak stories and people who have posted info on here being criticised for doing so after sometimes being wide of the mark as no fault of their own.

The OS should have the head start over all others, time will tell if they stay there.

I hope all our posters on here read this.......maybe just maybe, some of the younger, more impatient ones, will start to understand. I won't hold my breath!!!!

I think after the initial furore of the new owners arrival, it will sink in to most that we have RL part 2 but with a much better PR face. The club they said from day 1 would have to stand on its own feet, and apart from a little bit here and there i suspect we will be run as a profit making company.I would keep back from lauding it over other fans as i think it may back fire on you.

we are saved that is the best bit, the rest will be struggle and perhaps an initial putting in a bit of funds to help stave off the relegation thing, after that we will be much on our own.

A leopard does not change its spots.

Iam not against that by the way.

Nick, they have imho started to show committment already

offers to KD and SJ

Alan Pardew

turned down offers for Lallana and Schneiderling.

Lowe would not have done this.

They have said they ideally want a self-financing club however realise they need year on year investment to get us to the premier league.

Why are you so sure that we have RL mark 2 - most are excited by him and are more than willing to give him a chance.

I'm following a team on the continent as well, where the website is authoritative and ahead of the rest of newsmedia. Seems like good management to me and I hope we can carry it on.

If all three go we are f***ed.

behave. If all three go the wage bill will be massively reduced and AP will have much more flexibility in the transfer market. Whetehr or not he brings the right players in is of course a different matter.

But it is a positive thing not negative IMO. If we cut our cloth and grow through our own wealth creation you have a long term future. ML is not a young man in the Ambramovic group, and we dont know what provisions the club have if god forbid anything happened to him. Therefore if the club is strong on its own feet we wont have the spectre of financial woes again. Why is being prudent seen as a mistake in our society nowadays?

I do expect him shortterm to feed some funds in but I do not ever expect to be up with the Man citys and Chelsea in buying star players. That is all

I'm quite pleased that we don't have dodgy leaks from the Club but I thought we had employed a P.R. company ,one of whose jobs is to create a feel good factor which would be helpful to alleviate the jitters that are creeping in again, much too early in my opinion the man has a plan..P.R. guys get it out there pronto......also who is going to be the heralded Director of Football, that has gone quiet...why?

**** PR spin and rhetoric. I'd sooner be kept in the dark.

Look at the Skates and all the players they're going to sign but never do. Until deals are done it's best all round if club keeps their cards close to their chests.

Was there going to be a DoF? I though that was a Pinnacle thing.

We haven't actually been privy to any of ML's plans for the club so, for the most part, it's all conjecture and guess work!
