hackedoff Posted 28 July, 2009 Posted 28 July, 2009 What worries me is that as it stands we have at the moment a far weaker squad than what failed so miserably last season. A few good signings could mean a decent start to this season and 20,000 + crowds, where a crap start could easily see attendances fall to half this and another spiral into decline. Losing the momentum of the buy-out could be a real problem especially as ML said that he wanted the club to stand on its own feet.
Wildgoose Posted 28 July, 2009 Posted 28 July, 2009 Less than 1 month ago we were seriously worried wether we would have a club to support at all. Today we have no debts at all... nothing, zip, diddley squat, zilch, and we have a club to support as well... I for 1 am just gratefull for that.. ML is from what I have read a very careful and astute businessman who does not splash out cash just for the sake of it.. He is not afraid to spend if the oppertunity or situation or appropriate financial possibility arises. I for one am happy to have him at the helm (even at a distance)... He will bring something to this club we haven't had for a few years now... Financial security and stability .. AP would not have taken on this job if he knew he hadn't got a transfer kitty... There has been a pleasant lack of rumours/leaks coming out of SFC since ML took over. No news/ leaks doesn't mean nothing is going on ... Just thaty nothing is being leaked about it. I'm with you on this. I'm desperate to see some signings and staff added like all of us, (can't wait! but got to....) but am confident the guys at the helm will do what is necessary to succeed. Happy to have a club to support. In ML & AP we trust!

Methinks it is far, far to early to get worried about anything much.

I don't think we really know what kind of squad we have, and we won't know until they are moulded into a good system, used in ways that utilize their talents, given solid coaching and motivation, and given some time to gel. It's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that some of last season's no-hopers will become very effective players under AP. Yes, I think we need to bring some players in - better established players for the most part - but rushing at it will A) do more harm than good, and B) waste money. Remember Sunderland's promotion from the CCC? They were crap for almost half a season and then nobody could touch them. We're Against Nutty Knee-jerk Action but that doesn't make us W*NKAs.
miserableoldgit Posted 29 July, 2009 Posted 29 July, 2009 Whilst not being overly concerned at the apparent lack of activity on the transfer/coaching staff fronts, with only a week-and-a-half to go before the opening league game, I do find it a bit surprising. I am sure, however, that AP is an experienced manager and knows what he is doing. Doesn't he??

JustMike Posted 29 July, 2009 Posted 29 July, 2009 see in todays echo it says that AP has taken the team away to a "x factor style boot camp" for a week for bonding etc etc. So, if they cant play football, maybe they can sing :-)
