There could be some awesome demos and protests in and around the Bargate.
saintwarwick Posted 26 July, 2009 Posted 26 July, 2009 olympics 2012 - are we still sucking up to the Chinese team hoping they will stay at the DeVere and train up the sports centre? There could be some awesome demos and protests in and around the Bargate. Why?
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 26 July, 2009 Posted 26 July, 2009 Why? Have you been living in a cave since Tiananmen Square, or don't you get Newspapers in deepest, darkest Warwick?
saintwarwick Posted 26 July, 2009 Posted 26 July, 2009 Have you been living in a cave since Tiananmen Square, or don't you get Newspapers in deepest, darkest Warwick? edit, just seen your smiliey thingey
Thedelldays Posted 26 July, 2009 Posted 26 July, 2009 not sure what having a Demo against Chinese athletes will do other than make Southampton look rather daft and a bunch of Yoghurt knitters
Badger Posted 26 July, 2009 Posted 26 July, 2009 so.. olympics 2012 Rugby world cip 215 and (hopefully) Footie world cup 2018 wow 2012 - Swiss Equestrian team will be training at St Mary's. 2018 - Markus & Co will rattle the City Council to become a host city.I'm sure his family will find a crane or two to help put up a new stand or so at SMS in double quick time if required. Sorted.
hamster Posted 26 July, 2009 Posted 26 July, 2009 not sure what having a Demo against Chinese athletes will do other than make Southampton look rather daft and a bunch of Yoghurt knitters Agreed, but we have more students than Oxford nowadays and they have a lot of time to kill. They would get hard just just thinking about *it. "it + showing solidarity with their Tianamnan soulmates.
Neil Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 I read today that the recommended venues to host the 2015 RWC are being put forward to a board meeting next week. Assume that St Mary's is still one of the venues?
Dimond Geezer Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Certainly hope so. I'm looking forward to it.
dellboypete Posted 18 September, 2012 Posted 18 September, 2012 Reading about this in variuos papers this morning including http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/sep/17/england-tests-away-twickenham-2015 St Mary's doesn't get a mention and may not figure, and it seems that some premier league managers are opposed to it as the RWC is from 18 September to 31 October 2015 with the possibility/probability of the pitches being damaged. I'd still love to see it at SMS but will be interesting to see how they fit the games around the football fixtuers.
