Thedelldays Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 well well well those who constantly slate him...what do you think now.. rasiak is our best striker and IF he stays will remain so he never runs around alot, he looks like he is lazy BUT his is an expert goal poacher and lehthal in the box especially in league 1
SaintBobby Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 well well well those who constantly slate him...what do you think now.. rasiak is our best striker and IF he stays will remain so he never runs around alot, he looks like he is lazy BUT his is an expert goal poacher and lehthal in the box especially in league 1 I doubt a close range tap-in in a friendly will do much to change anyone's mind. I'm pretty pro-Rasiak btw, but I hardly beileve this will change anyone's view (built up over dozens of matches) and neither should it. EDIT: see he's got a header too. Nice.
offix Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 I don't care if he's as lazy as Beattie, I don't care if he looks (or even IS) slow. As long as he scores, I want him in the team.
S-Clarke Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 He will always score goals, if you provide the service. In the likes of James/Harding/Holmes we have players with proven delivery - if we use the width properly, he'll get 20-30 in league 1 IMO.
Saintjersey Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 He is in the team to score goals, if he can score 25 goals in this division then I would be very happy.
Ludwig Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 No, he's crap and immobile. We should pay for him to leave.
homesick-saint Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 If we had Rasiak and John last season we would have stayed up and would be 10 points better off now.
Minsk Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 He will always score goals, if you provide the service. In the likes of James/Harding/Holmes we have players with proven delivery - if we use the width properly, he'll get 20-30 in league 1 IMO. And Murty.
kpturner Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 No' date=' he's crap and immobile. We should pay for him to leave.[/quote'] He was neither today my friend
VectisSaint Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 No' date=' he's crap and immobile. We should pay for him to leave.[/quote'] I think you did...
CanadaSaint Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 It's easy to rush to (negative) judgment on a lot of players when they are not being used or motivated properly, and Rasiak is far from the only example. For the first time in a long time we might be watching a manager who knows how to build a credible system around the players at his disposal, who knows how to motivate them, and who can see fairly quickly who can't cut the mustard. This is his first game with his hands fully on the reins, and that's why it wasn't too troubling to see him holding back on bringing players in last week. The coming week may well be very different.
Nexstar Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 well well well those who constantly slate him...what do you think now.. rasiak is our best striker and IF he stays will remain so he never runs around alot, he looks like he is lazy BUT his is an expert goal poacher and lehthal in the box especially in league 1 You mean those that looked at the facts of a striker that scored 0 goals in 6 games...what do you think now... He did well today, lets just hope he can do the same in league matches.
scally Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Never been a big fan but nobody can deny we looked far better when he came on, he looked class and we should do all we can to keep him.
offix Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 For the first time in a long time we might be watching a manager who knows how to build a credible system around the players at his disposal, who knows how to motivate them, and who can see fairly quickly who can't cut the mustard. Fricking amazing isn't it? We have a future as a club and as a team again!
Toomer Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 (edited) His second was from a great cross from Murty (get him signed) I was happy with Rasiak's 30 mins but was it an I want to stay performance or shop window. Edited 25 July, 2009 by Toomer
wightman35 Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 His second was from a great cross from Murty (get him signed) I was happy with Rasiak 30 mins but was an I want to stay performance or shop window. That is a very interesting comment. I hope it was the former!
Um Bongo Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Think Arsenal must have been there watching him because he worked his Arse off when he came on.
NickG Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 well well well those who constantly slate him...what do you think now.. rasiak is our best striker and IF he stays will remain so he never runs around alot, he looks like he is lazy BUT his is an expert goal poacher and lehthal in the box especially in league 1 he did run around today - looked up for it.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 I'd have him over Stern, but it looks like Rasiak wants to leave and Stern wants to stay.
skintsaint Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 well well well those who constantly slate him...what do you think now.. rasiak is our best striker and IF he stays will remain so he never runs around alot, he looks like he is lazy BUT his is an expert goal poacher and lehthal in the box especially in league 1 it was a FRIENDLY against hearts... just something you point out a lot
lordswoodsaints Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 I don't really rate him as he does little else but in L1 he will be an asset if he is fed the ball where he wants it,it's no good having a striker like rasiak and then expect him to run his nuts off and battle for the ball to create a chance.....that's not his game.
Causer Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Most Effort he has put in for a long time. If he can keep the efforrt up he willl score 25 goals this season.
Rasiak-9- Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 well well well those who constantly slate him...what do you think now.. rasiak is our best striker and IF he stays will remain so he never runs around alot, he looks like he is lazy BUT his is an expert goal poacher and lehthal in the box especially in league 1 We Saints fans never seem to rate our strikers - McGoldrick runs back to recieve the ball to feet and get things going and when he's not the furthest forward when we do attack we slate him Rasiak keeps his position always giving us a target to aim at and some hold-up play and when we don't have the ball and can't get it past the midfield or the other team is in posession and he doesn't run around - we slate him If you wanna play for Saints - don't play up front.
eelpie Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 it was a FRIENDLY against hearts... just something you point out a lot Bring on Millwall
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 I wasn't at the game today but obviously well done to Rasiak for scoring - I'm always happy to see any Saints player do well . However I'm not convinced he really wants to be here nor am I at all confident he'd make it into double figures even if he does stay . Stern John could/should the main man for us this coming season .

But Lallana opened the scoring
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 I don't care if he's as lazy as Beattie, I don't care if he looks (or even IS) slow. As long as he scores, I want him in the team. Beattie lazy? I have never seen a harder working centre-forward apart perhaps from Rooney.
Thedelldays Posted 25 July, 2009 Author Posted 25 July, 2009 Beattie lazy? I have never seen a harder working centre-forward apart perhaps from Rooney. this is true...he (and bett) were instrumental to our success at the time... defending from the very front and they did this well
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 But Lallana opened the scoring I really don't know what to make of Lallana - the lads natural talent is there for all to see but he can be frustratingly ineffective in influencing a football match , that's hope Alan Pardew can turn him into the star he could well be .
derry Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 It's easy to rush to (negative) judgment on a lot of players when they are not being used or motivated properly, and Rasiak is far from the only example. It was unrecognisable from last week, traditional 4-4-2, the players looked comfortable. The work rate and enthusism was good, the two full backs gave us a pretty solid back four. Despite his goal Lallana's right side positional play wasn't the best and Wotton though he worked hard doesn't give enough skill in midfield. A big plus was Matt Paterson who was the hard working centre forward alongside John, then a rejuvenated Raziak who worked hard, had two class finishes and took up some good positions. Pardew was out on the edge of the pitch with pen and paper the whole game and was continually waving the pair of strikers not to come back except for free kicks and corners. He was doing the same to lallana about width and was directing the team in what he wanted. It was a pretty comprehensive win bodes well for the future.
Crispypie Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Pardew(OS):- Lallana - No financial pressure to sell, keeping him Rasiak - May not be able to keep him if the right offer comes in I think that tells us what AP thinks!
Dannyboy_Saint Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 We looked much more threatening when Rasiak and Paterson were running the line. If he is prepared to stay in league 1 then we should defiantely do all we can to keep him as he is a quality striker at this level. Also on another note, sign Murty up now he was great today. 3 or 4 fantastic byline crosses and dealt with their lanky Winger very well all game.
Saint Charlie Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Pardew on OS saying Rasiak quite likely to go.
derry Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Joe Mills had a solid game wide left whilst Gobern looked decent when he replaced him. Lancashire had a solid effective 15 mins for Thomas and James was ok at left back for Harding. The organisation and effort together with the two banks of four closed Hearts down pretty effectively.
CanadaSaint Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Pardew was out on the edge of the pitch with pen and paper the whole game and was continually waving the pair of strikers not to come back except for free kicks and corners. He sounds like Rasiak's kind of manager! It sounds like Pardew has chatted to Rasiak and knows he'd prefer to leave, so Toomer's suggestion that it was a "shop window" performance may well be right. But after two goals and not being expected to track back too much, you never know.
Arizona Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 I can't see why Rasiak would be too keen to leave if I'm honnest. Unlike Saga he is unlikely to get into the NT. He is not going to get more money elsewhere and if he stayed it's not beyond the realms of possibility he'd be back in the CCC anyway. Added to that he would be playing first team football regularly and at his age doesn't need to be proving himself at a higher level.
SaintRobbie Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Rasiak would be fantastic for us. I hope he stays and scores 30 goals this season.
Carlos Fandango Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Funny how the usually lazy Rasiak can put in a decent performance when he's looking for a move away from the club isn't it. Shame he has such a crappy attitude, he can do it when he tries.
dellgirl Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Rasiak is never going to be an athlete and he does fall over a lot,but as has been said already he is the poacher we have been missing.
derry Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 The manager's decision to keep the two attackers together and not want them to come back probably tied up more defenders and at the same time made it easier to get into dangerous positions quickly when we attacked and defenders were pulled around. Raziak looked a class act and his goals were really slick, getting between defenders on the run. Him and John sharing plus Paterson and maybe a new signing would be good for us. Saganowski wasn't even on the bench today, may be he is off. It might be that apart from the idea of the shop window maybe he is showing Pardew what he can do.
del boy Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 He looked a class above today. Gave the whole team a lift I thought. Maybe he was just trying to impress any watching purchasers.
SaintRobbie Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 He looked a class above today. Gave the whole team a lift I thought. Maybe he was just trying to impress any watching purchasers. ...maybe he was being led and inspired by a decent manager for the first time in a couple of years?
derry Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 We looked a lot more solid than I've seen us for a couple of seasons. We even had a set piece kick off to the second half with the ball coming back from the centre and swept out deep right with Paterson reinforcing wide right it was a shame it was overhit but at least they are trying things.
Professor Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Pardew was quite clear about Rasiak leaving if a club comes in with an acceptable offer. That has be reconciled with Pardew's statement that he'd like Rasiak to stay, so it looks as if its the decision of the player that he wants to go.
barney Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Must have been a few scouts watching him,he really put it in today. Linked up extremely well with lallana if he always showed that effort and desire would be chuffed if he stayed.
