Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 I have watched him against us and seen him a little when watching Brum on the Tele, i am no expert on the bloke, but then who is an expert on players outside of southampton really ?? As far as i am aware he is a very good centre back, no nonsense ball winner. earlier you said he played "very well" all season, just wondering how you make a statement like this without some backup
Bad Wolf Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Surely we should sign the forwards from a 4-3 and not the defenders! Lol...He was one of the scorers if I remember rightly

negium Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 To be fair to him he played 30 times for them in the league last season according to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_City_F.C._season_2008%E2%80%9309#Playing_statistics
Hopkins Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 He's exactly like JPS. A dominating centre half. Will occasinally get caught out probably attempting to win headers/tackles but will more often than do well and look the part. I doubt we will get JPS now Pardew is here and wanting his own men so i'll be happy enough with Jaidi. A beast!
rick1976.4.38 Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 we need a defender who can out muscle some of the attackers we will face this season, jaidi is the type of cb we need, strong, and can also score, may not have the pace though, but had a good season with brum, coyr

I was at the Brimingham away game last season, he is easily the best centre back in the championship, even better than Size.

We need a CB who can head the ball, out of danger, 1/2 or 2/3rds up the pitch. Allied to a bit of skill in other areas of the team, brute force, and a that bit of skill around him, will get us out of this league. Simples:cool:
NickG Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 its only been mentioned, in passing, on Vital football - not the best source of info, even they say if reports are to be believed - without saying where these reports are. Can't remember him, but sounds a good signing - but don't think its a strong rumour.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 25 July, 2009 Posted 25 July, 2009 Not sure Jaidi and Thomas would be such a great partnership. Yes, they'd scare the bejesus out of people, but if we faced any team with a pacy frontline, in the words of Mr Pardew we would get "absolutely raped". Sodje would be ideal, he's physical but he can shift too. In all honesty though, CB isn't a position we should scrimp on, go out and spend some money on someone worthwhile.

I fully agree with you about Sodje. And as he is also available on a free we could sign both him and Jaidi whilst not spending a penny (in transfer fees). I honestly do think we need to bring in 2 CBs (we should have 4 and I don't count/rate Lancashire) and would be very happy to have those 2 battling it out for a starting place with Thomas and Perry.
