Saint_clark Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Would be a decent signing. Scores a few from set pieces as well.
jam Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 From wikipedia: Said to be interested in a move to Southampton FC under the Alan Pugwash revolution.
Saintjersey Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 From wikipedia: When did Captain Pugwash invade us? I'm guessing Master Bates was with him.
MerceSaint28 Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 He would be an excellent signing in my opinion and exactly what we need to beef up our weak defense. I can't remember the time when we were a threat from a set piece and he would be ideal. If we could pair him with Fortune is avaialble on a free then that would be ideal. Personally i think Perry is too light weight, Thomas is injury prone and Lancashire is simply not good enough. I think it would also send a message to a close rival in Charlton and the rest of the league that we mean business and have the financial muscle. Charlton are in financial trouble, so we should be able to more than match what they have offered Jaidi. Get it done Pards !!!
Bearsy Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 I did hear Pardew is actively seeking a replacement for Perry, who he doesn't fancy as a first-choice CB.
Draino76 Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Whaa, the CB of last years Charlton? Not great. Oooops. Not reading properly. First time for everything I suppose.
the saint in winchester Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Not sure if Colin is impressed or not???? Don't know much of Jaidhi's work .. but in Pardew we trust.
Katalinic Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Exactly the type of bruising man mountain we need at the back.
beatlesaint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Fortune would be a good signing too. Played for Charlton in the Prem, must still be quite a young age. I think he has had some injury problems but if fit would be good for this League.....and thats what we need to remember, players who would be good for this League cos in reality its probably going to take a minimum of 2 years to get out of it. Players for the Championship and beyond come later
(not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 didn't he play for Brum when we murdered them at home the other season? He was all over the shop, although in his defence Kenwyne was pretty much unplayable at that time and BWP was in a rare run of form. Maybe for L1 he'd be a good, solid signing.
Smirking_Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Whaa, the CB of last years Charlton? Not great. Oooops. Not reading properly. First time for everything I suppose. ?? He played for Brum ?? I would take him, think he would be very very good in this league. Pards, if you read this, have a look at J.Fortune and DEFO have a look at Mr Shelvey !!!
spank_182 Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Bring him in. Bit of a tough guy in the centre of defence, which partnered with Thomas would definately add some much needed steel to the team. Plus, we'd actually do well with corners for once.
eelpie Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 every pugwash fan should be in mourning today So sad. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8166946.stm RIP Pugwash and Flook
Colinjb Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Not sure if Colin is impressed or not???? Don't know much of Jaidhi's work .. but in Pardew we trust. I would be impressed.... just to clarify.
Calvin Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 is he actually any good anymore..? I was wondering the same thing!
Bad Wolf Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Would LOVE him. Rated him ever since the 4-3 against Birmingham. Brilliant defender, brilliant experience. I'd be amazed if we signed him.
Thedelldays Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 I was wondering the same thing! just cant see how the "i love it if he came here" is actually justified..? when was the last time anyone saw him play..?
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Him and Sodje would be great for the back 4.
Thedelldays Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 one thing i have noticed and this thread reminded me.. many are decided what would be great signings without seeing anyone play or at least play recently.. no wonder we fans have no idea..lol
Calvin Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 just cant see how the "i love it if he came here" is actually justified..? when was the last time anyone saw him play..? That is a valid point. He is 33 years old.. getting on a bit!
Saint_clark Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 That is a valid point. He is 33 years old.. getting on a bit! Chris Perry is what, 35? Lucketti was 37 two seasons ago.
Thedelldays Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Chris Perry is what, 35? Lucketti was 37 two seasons ago. niether are that good either
John B Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 That is a valid point. He is 33 years old.. getting on a bit! Having never seen him play or never even heard of him I am not able to comment on his suitability But 33 does seem to be a bit old
Master Bates Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 (edited) So sad. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8166946.stm RIP Pugwash and Flook Ah s**t! I only had a pm from him the other day too! Edited 24 July, 2009 by Master Bates
eurosaint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Is he better than Olly Lancashire, I ask myself ??
Smirking_Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Is he better than Olly Lancashire, I ask myself ?? Im better then OL
Calvin Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Is he better than Olly Lancashire, I ask myself ?? Olly is only young though. He still has a lot of time to improve. You cant see Jaidi improving at his age, unless his fitness is good enough.. but than again fitness doesn't matter too much in this league..
Smirking_Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Olly is only young though. He still has a lot of time to improve. You cant see Jaidi improving at his age, unless his fitness is good enough.. but than again fitness doesn't matter too much in this league.. Yeah but TBF he has a LOT to improve. He is a terrible player, almost akin to the one man disaster that was davenport. Clueless slow and rash
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 You want to see a lot of mistakes, then Jaidi is your man.
the scud Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 You want to see a lot of mistakes, then Jaidi is your man. nearly every CB we have had has made mistakes tbh
Calvin Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 yeah but tbf he has a lot to improve. He is a terrible player, almost akin to the one man disaster that was davenport. Clueless slow and rash olly! Olly! Olly! Oi! Oi! Oi!
LeBenali Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 6 foot 4", believe he was (may even still be) Tunisia captain, seems like the type of player we need. 33 isn't young, but if partnered with a younger CB then should be ideal.

S-Clarke Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 He's the sort of player we should be looking at tbh. Loads of experience, a lot of that in top level European competition with bolton too. Obviously he's not as good as he was then, but he'd cope with league 1 - I'd offer him a 1 year contract, see what he can do.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Would LOVE him. Rated him ever since the 4-3 against Birmingham. Brilliant defender, brilliant experience. I'd be amazed if we signed him. Surely we should sign the forwards from a 4-3 and not the defenders!
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 nearly every CB we have had has made mistakes tbh Yeah, exactly, and we don't want another one.
Smirking_Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 one thing i have noticed and this thread reminded me.. many are decided what would be great signings without seeing anyone play or at least play recently.. no wonder we fans have no idea..lol He played nearly the whole of last year at birmingham ?? And played very well
Chez Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 he's a ****ing monster, a ball winner, exactly what is required if Murty and Mills are going to play. Pace is the issue, he has none. That means Perry is a non starter next to him.
NickG Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 sounds like Harding is going to be first choice LB - Pardew says his quality is he will perform well every week
Colinjb Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 sounds like Harding is going to be first choice LB - Pardew says his quality is he will perform well every week Why do I find it a relief that we have a manager who wants players who will 'perform' every week..... am I that deprived of competance!?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 He played nearly the whole of last year at birmingham ?? And played very well says who? or is that "played so well" but they released him anyway!?
Smirking_Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Ahh, he played well but he is probably too old for PL, he is slow, as Chez said he needs someone next to him with a bit of pace, but will do well in this div as he is a brute
Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 Ahh, he played well but he is probably too old for PL, he is slow, as Chez said he needs someone next to him with a bit of pace, but will do well in this div as he is a brute Have you ever seen him play? Frank Bruno is a 'brute' should we sign him?
Smirking_Saint Posted 24 July, 2009 Posted 24 July, 2009 I have watched him against us and seen him a little when watching Brum on the Tele, i am no expert on the bloke, but then who is an expert on players outside of southampton really ?? As far as i am aware he is a very good centre back, no nonsense ball winner.
