Matt Holland to sign and take the number 7 shirt. Also, confirmation that John has signed a new 2-year contract.

Oh and I'm just speculating. Not ITK at all on this one. ;)

Hopefully if there is one it will be to announce a number of signings, as surely if we just were announcing one there wouldn't be a need for a press conference (unless it was a world class player, which isn't going to happen)?

Nothing from the Echo on Twitter.

I cant be arsed to phone SMS reception again as they will think Im stalking one of the girls. Can someone else do it please?

It was on the comments under the article about pardew on the phone too much. Someone was moaning that all the pictures of pardew were of him wearing his charlton gear and someone from the echo replied saying the picture has been changed to one from the salisbury game and they will be at staplewood for the press conference this afternoon so will get more pics. Sounds stupid I know but the puc has been changed

Can you not just put a hankie over the handset and call from a phone box?

Phil Burner, says...

10:04am Fri 24 Jul 09

"Dear Romsey Saint, Burton Saint and Dickosfc.

Changed the pic over to one from the Salisbury game and our guys will be down at Staplewood today for the press conference so looking to get some more pics then."

Do we ever do anything these days that enough media care about to have a press conference? No...not really. Sky Sports ain't gonna come rushing down to report on an ageing pro signing for a League 1 team.

It's official business - they are ging to announce opening the Itchen North - and be renaming it the "Rupert Lowe" stand as a mark of respect for the man who led us in our darkest hour!

Once renamed they are hoping to attract a less vocal and less passionate supporter who will sit down, shut-up and not look at those scarey away fans!

The Saints Trust were asked to comment - and they stated "We already have a place like this - it's called The Kingsland. However we endorse anything to do with Rupert Lowe and welcome the news!"

The Ha,pshire police have welcomed this news saying that "The work at St.Mary's has been a lot less entertaining since they closed the Itchen North Stand. We look forward to being able to interface with the fans on a personal level once again."

Season ticket holders were up in arms as they have not be give the opportunity to go back to their roots. One aggrieved fan who wishes to remain annonomous was overheard to have commented "I can't understand why middle-aged, overweight football fans with memories of the 70's and 80's have been alienated by this decision. Sure we like to sing, we like to have a bevvy or three, and love discussing the finer aspects of the game up close with the away fans. As for re-naming the stand "We're the Lowe Stand, We're the Lowe Stand, We're the Lowe Stand over 'ere" does run off the tongue easily - I nearly choked when I tried it!"

Finally Alan Pardew wanted some input into the decison stating "Anything that makes this stadium a hostile place for the visitors to come and play football is a must!"

Mr. Lebherr was heard to have been considering his options over the additional cost of a few policeman.

Ah the infamous press conference thread. I wonder if this will turn out to be that most elusive of things- a press conference thread that correctly predicts a press conference!

Yeah right! Quite annoying usually as there's a Press conf. thread every couple of days on here and I remember there being about...2% of the supposed claims that actually materialised.

Generally, when there's a press conference, it's announced to the press (not just an internet blag board!)

I would assume this is just a normal "pre-match" friday afternoon press call rather than a press conf.

This has just gone up on Twitter from Official Saints

"Just the normal press briefing ahead of Hearts. Full details will be on http://bit.ly/c2GRt by the end of the day as normal."

Just came on tweeter that its the usual press conf for the Hearts game will be on the OS later.

I hate being right all the time...
