itchen_dan Posted 25 July, 2009 Share Posted 25 July, 2009 Speaking of the crowd today and peers, did anyone else see Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber in the Itchen today? Yeah he was sat about 2 rows behind me! He looked really scruffy! Hair was a mess and the shirt and jeans he had on looked like rags!

agboola Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 Perhaps some of the 20,000 plus at Lords were Saints fans and felt watching Hampshire in a competitive cup final in July was a greater priority than a friendly before the football season starts. Can't be in two places at once. Let's see how many turn up for the Millwall game.

Don't be such a drama queen. I didn't go as I had something more important on. It's a meaningless friendly that's all and I expect quite a few people are on holiday or, like myself, have just bought season tickets. Millwall is AP's first game in my opinion so see how many turn up for that.

I purchased 2 season tickets yesterday morning but yes, couldn't be arsed to go and watch a pre season friendly, shame on me! Didn't take long for you to start moaning about our fans did it Charlie, did you equate Hampshire in a final, a game last week, this week, next week then the big KO the following week + the worst recession for 80 years? No thats right just slag off us long suffering fans again! Note, would be interesting to see the official attendances from all of yesterdays friendlies!! suewhistle Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 I think Robsk was TT p**s, to be honest. Not too bad, in the circumstances. The overseas/Yorkshire/London/Scottish diaspora will be there for the Millwall game, so don't worry. The big question is, given the early KO: do I have my classic anaesthetic pint before the game (and where?) or just a complete debauch afterwards. Something like Junction/South-Western/Dolphin/Bent Brief/Guidedog/HL/Waterloo/ and then, who knows?

Having spent many, many thousands of pounds over a number of years following the Saints (even had 2 ST's when I lived abroad!) I do not consider that I should feel shame over missing a meaningless pre-season friendly ! If there was a message to be sent out, then the welcome party for the new owner was last week, the first game of the new season is in 2 weeks time but in between there are just warm-up games ! Your suggestion that 4,500 care and that the rest do not is nothing less than an insult to a great number of genuine Saints supporters !
latter day saint Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 thought the atmosphere was pretty good considering the attendance. got to remember it was only Hearts. not exactly a big draw are they. after the good performance & score the best parts of the day were when that bloke down the front wearing the Hibs top turned up,the stick that bloke in the kilt got & embarrasing my sister when i got up & "disco'd" a few times also can the bloke 2 rows behind me, who loudly slagged off Rasiak while he was warming up on the touchline, keep it up as it seemed to have an effect

RedWillie Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 Only a friendly against an everage Scottish team. The real effort should be made in 2 weeks for the Millwall match. Thats when it really matters, however with early August school holidays, money being tight ,early kick off - don't expect a sell out, more like 20K would be a decent gate. Perhaps we ought to start the campaign for Turn up for Millwall match now....

This friendly was (I think) only announced 2 weeks ago, i.e. a week before the Ajax game. By this time I had other arrangement made for yesterday which could not be put off. I am sure that their were a lot of other people who wanted to watch the FP Cup Final as well. I have my season ticket, the same as I have for the last 35 years.
